Blocking Rumor by Cut

In this paper, a rumor blocking problem is studied with an objective function which is neither submodular or supermodular. We will prove that this problem is NP-hard and give a data-dependent approximation with sandwich method. In addition, we show that every set function has a pair of monotone nondecreasing modular functions as upper bound and lower bound, respectively.     

Why combatants fight: the Irish Republican Army and the Bosnian Serb Army compared

This article investigates what motivates combatants to fight in non-conventional armed organizations. Drawing on interviews with ex-combatants from the Army of the Serbian Republic in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Provisional Irish Republican Army, the article compares the role of nationalist ideology, coercive organizational structures, and small group solidarity in these two organizations. Our analysis indicates that coercion played a limited role in both armed forces: in the VRS coercion was relevant mostly in the recruitment phase, while in the IRA its direct impact was only discernible during armed operations. We also find that although both organizations are seen as being highly motivated by nationalist ideas, the picture is much more complex and nationalism is less present than expected. The study demonstrates that nationalism played a relatively marginal role in combatants’ motivation to fight. Instead our research indicates that individualist motivations, small group solidarity, and local networks dominate.

新疆三区革命是在盛世才反苏反共,对新疆各族人民实行残酷的政治迫害和经济盘剥的反动政策逼迫下,在苏联的策动组织下发生的,是反对盛世才和国民党反动统治,争取民族平等和解放的革命斗争.由于各种复杂的原因,在革命过程中发生过分裂祖国,反汉排汉的严重错误,但最终接受了中国共产党的领导,为新疆的和平解放做出了重要贡献.     

孙中山关于国共合作的心理场结构及其对最终走向的影响

关于孙中山第一次国共合作的态度,我们在以往的研究中或是对孙中山进行了过分拔高,忽视其阶级属性;或是将其过分贬低,仅仅等同为资产阶级利益的守护者。而引入心理场概念,对具体环境下孙中山心理场中影响国共合作的正负向量进行解析,可以还原其真实心态。这种心态也最终决定了第一次国共合作的走向。     

医疗卫生产业化改革的障碍破解

理论界对于医疗卫生“市场化”和“产业化”尚未形成统一的概念和认识,目前对医疗卫生产业化的提法也比较谨慎。卫生产业的改革和发展是我国社会改革开放和现代化建设的重要组成部分。医疗卫生产业是渐进的,不断调整完善的长期过程,需要从观念上更新、完善相关法律法规及相关政策的支持。     

Bayesian robustness of the compound Poisson distribution under bidimensional prior: an application to the collective risk model

The distribution of the aggregate claims in one year plays an important role in Actuarial Statistics for computing, for example, insurance premiums when both the number and size of the claims must be implemented into the model. When the number of claims follows a Poisson distribution the aggregated distribution is called the compound Poisson distribution. In this article we assume that the claim size follows an exponential distribution and later we make an extensive study of this model by assuming a bidimensional prior distribution for the parameters of the Poisson and exponential distribution with marginal gamma. This study carries us to obtain expressions for net premiums, marginal and posterior distributions in terms of some well-known special functions used in statistics. Later, a Bayesian robustness study of this model is made. Bayesian robustness on bidimensional models was deeply treated in the 1990s, producing numerous results, but few applications dealing with this problem can be found in the literature.     

论环境犯罪的伦理特征及其刑法控制基础

环境问题的日益加剧要求刑法的介入,但环境问题的刑法控制必须建立在正确认识环境犯罪的伦理特征,进而确认环境刑法伦理基础的前提下.弱势人类中心主义在坚持人类利益以及倡导人与自然和谐相处的基调下,为环境犯罪的刑法控制提供了伦理基础,非人类中心主义却因其高层次的道德感,无法与作为代表最低限度道德的刑罚相融合.在弱势人类中心主义的基础上进行环境犯罪的控制研究,是我国当前应对环境问题的重要课题.     

重绘山海民族的心灵史——评王志彬的《山海的缪斯：当代台湾少数民族文学研究》

20世纪90年代以降,随着两岸关系不断发展,两岸交流日益频繁,台湾少数民族文学逐渐进入大陆学者的研究视野,但研究者或是对个案作家或作品进行批评,或是论述民族文化与政治的关系之类,鲜有对台湾少数民族文学做出全景式论述之作.王志彬教授撰写的《山海的缪斯——当代台湾少数民族文学研究》(中国社会科学出版社2015年1月版)一书则对这一领域进行了深入研究.此书立足文本和作家际遇,考察了台湾少数民族文学与传统文化、现代社会以及文学环境与个人心态等多重因素,对台湾少数民族文学的发展做了细致的梳理,对其独特的审美品格进行了分析,并对其面临的后现代与传统的困境做出了较好地揭示.     

Living a Deportation Threat: Anticipatory Stressors Confronted by Undocumented Mexican Immigrant Women

Previous sociological research shows that exposure to stress varies by individuals’ social statuses and is a central mechanism in producing mental health disparities. This line of research suggests that ethnoracial groups are more exposed to racial discrimination, thus negatively impacting their mental health. There has also been a growing literature showing how legal status impacts the mental health of immigrants and their families. However, the sociology of mental health and migration literature has largely remained disparate. This paper bridges these literatures to highlight how living a deportation threat manifests itself as an anticipatory stressor that negatively impacts undocumented Mexican migrant women’s access to resources, social relationships, and social roles. Based on 30 semi-structured in-depth interviews with undocumented Mexican immigrant women from Houston, Texas, my findings reveal living a deportation threat is a perpetual anticipatory stressor that intensifies the effects of avoiding authorities, family fragmentation, and economic uncertainty. I argue this anticipatory stressor transforms into a chronic stressor that undocumented Mexican women confront daily. By situating this study within an anti-immigrant social context, it highlights the social processes and mechanisms that exacerbate the stressors undocumented Mexican immigrant women confront.
