Foldover techniques are used to reduce the confounding when some important effects (usually lower order effects) cannot be estimated independently. This article develops an efficient foldover mechanism for symmetric or asymmetric designs, whether regular or nonregular. In this paper, we take the uniformity criteria (UC) as the optimality measures to construct the optimal combined designs (initial design plus its corresponding foldover design) which have better capability of estimating lower order effects. The relationship between any initial design and its combined design is studied. A comparison study between the combined designs via different UC is provided. Equivalence between any combined design and its complementary combined design is investigated, which is a very useful constraint that reduce the search space. Using our results as benchmarks, we can implement a powerful algorithm for constructing optimal combined designs. Our work covers as well as gives results better than recent works of about 20 articles in the last few years as special cases. So this article is a good reference for constructing effective designs.  相似文献

The methods of estimation of nonparametric regression function are quite common in statistical application. In this paper, the new Bayesian wavelet thresholding estimation is considered. The new mixture prior distributions for the estimation of nonparametric regression function by applying wavelet transformation are investigated. The reversible jump algorithm to obtain the appropriate prior distributions and value of thresholding is used. The performance of the proposed estimator is assessed with simulated data from well-known test functions by comparing the convergence rate of the proposed estimator with respect to another by evaluating the average mean square error and standard deviations. Finally by applying the developed method, density function of galaxy data is estimated.  相似文献

One of the important topics in morphometry that received high attention recently is the longitudinal analysis of shape variation. According to Kendall's definition of shape, the shape of object appertains on non-Euclidean space, making the longitudinal study of configuration somehow difficult. However, to simplify this task, triangulation of the objects and then constructing a non-parametric regression-type model on the unit sphere is pursued in this paper. The prediction of the configurations in some time instances is done using both properties of triangulation and the size of great baselines. Moreover, minimizing a Euclidean risk function is proposed to select feasible weights in constructing smoother functions in a non-parametric smoothing manner. These will provide some proper shape growth models to analysis objects varying in time. The proposed models are applied to analysis of two real-life data sets.  相似文献

Clustered binary responses are often found in ecological studies. Data analysis may include modeling the marginal probability response. However, when the association is the main scientific focus, modeling the correlation structure between pairs of responses is the key part of the analysis. Second-order generalized estimating equations (GEE) are established in the literature. Some of them are more efficient in computational terms, especially facing large clusters. Alternating logistic regression (ALR) and orthogonalized residual (ORTH) GEE methods are presented and compared in this paper. Simulation results show a slightly superiority of ALR over ORTH. Marginal probabilities and odds ratios are also estimated and compared in a real ecological study involving a three-level hierarchical clustering. ALR and ORTH models are useful for modeling complex association structure with large cluster sizes.  相似文献

We introduce a log-linear regression model based on the odd log-logistic generalized half-normal distribution [7 G.M. Cordeiro, M. Alizadeh, R.R. Pescim, and E.M.M. Some of its structural properties including explicit expressions for the density function, quantile and generating functions and ordinary moments are derived. We estimate the model parameters by the maximum likelihood method. For different parameter settings, proportion of censoring and sample size, some simulations are performed to investigate the behavior of the estimators. We derive the appropriate matrices for assessing local influence diagnostics on the parameter estimates under different perturbation schemes. We also define the martingale and modified deviance residuals to detect outliers and evaluate the model assumptions. In addition, we demonstrate that the extended regression model can be very useful in the analysis of real data and provide more realistic fits than other special regression models. The potentiality of the new regression model is illustrated by means of a real data set.  相似文献

This paper establishes a remarkable result regarding Palm distributions for a log Gaussian Cox process: the reduced Palm distribution for a log Gaussian Cox process is itself a log Gaussian Cox process that only differs from the original log Gaussian Cox process in the intensity function. We address the issue of model selection in beta regressions with varying dispersion. The model consists of two submodels, namely: for the mean and for the dispersion. Our focus is on the selection of the covariates for each submodel. Our Monte Carlo evidence reveals that the joint selection of covariates for the two submodels is not accurate in finite samples. We introduce two new model selection criteria that explicitly account for varying dispersion and propose a fast two step model selection scheme which is considerably more accurate and is computationally less costly than usual joint model selection. Monte Carlo evidence is presented and discussed. We also present the results of an empirical application.  相似文献

The adaptive exponentially weighted moving average (AEWMA) control chart is a smooth combination of the Shewhart and exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control charts. This chart was proposed by Cappizzi and Masarotto (2003) to achieve a reasonable performance for both small and large shifts. Cappizzi and Masarotto (2003) used a pair of shifts in designing their control chart. In this study, however, the process mean shift is considered as a random variable with a certain probability distribution and the AEWMA control chart is optimized for a wide range of mean shifts according to that probability distribution and not just for a pair of shifts. Using the Markov chain technique, the results show that the new optimization design can improve the performance of the AEWMA control chart from an overall point of view relative to the various designs presented by Cappizzi and Masarotto (2003). Optimal design parameters that achieve the desired in-control average run length (ARL) are computed in several cases and formulas used to find approximately their values are given. Using these formulas, the practitioner can compute the optimal design parameters corresponding to any desired in-control ARL without the need to apply the optimization procedure. The results obtained by these formulas are very promising and would particularly facilitate the design of the AEWMA control chart for any in-control ARL value.  相似文献

In this study, some methods suggested for binary repeated measures, namely, Weighted Least Squares (WLS), Generalized Estimating Equations (GEE), and Generalized Linear Mixed Models (GLMM) are compared with respect to power, type 1 error, and properties of estimates. The results indicate that with adequate sample size, no missing data, the only covariate being time effect, and a relatively limited number of time points, the WLS method performs well. The GEE approach performs well only for large sample sizes. The GLMM method is satisfactory with respect to type I error, but its estimates have poorer properties than the other methods.  相似文献
