In this paper, a difference-in-regression estimator is proposed by using two auxiliary variables in simple random sampling. Variance of proposed estimator up to the first order of approximation is compared with other competing estimators. Additionally, by taking the known value of one of the population regression coefficients, another version of the proposed estimator is also obtained. The proposed estimator is found optimum in the class of estimators based on two auxiliary variables. A simulation study is carried out in support with theoretical results. If only the means of auxiliary variables are available, another estimator can be obtained for large trivariate normal population.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a modified version of the estimator of Hansen and Hurwitz [12] in the case of quantitative sensitive variable and consider a randomization mechanism on the second call that provides privacy protection to the respondents to get truthful information. We use variance of the modified estimator as a tool to measure privacy protection and it is observed that the higher is the variance, the lower is the efficiency but the higher is the privacy protection. To overcome this efficiency loss, we consider a linear regression estimator using known non-sensitive auxiliary information. With consideration of four scrambled models, we try to make a trade-off between efficiency and privacy protection. To show this compromise, analytical and numerical comparisons are obtained.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a new difference-type estimator in estimating the finite population mean in stratified double sampling by using the ranks of two auxiliary variables as an additional information. The proposed estimator performs better than the usual sample mean estimator, ratio estimator, exponential estimator, Choudhury and Singh (2012) estimator, Vishwakarma and Gangele (2014) estimator, Singh and Khalid (2015) estimator, Khan and Al-Hossain (2016) estimator, Khan (2016) estimator, and the usual difference estimator. Two real datasets are used to observe the performances of estimators.  相似文献

We propose a new ratio type estimator for estimating the finite population mean using two auxiliary variables in stratified two-phase sampling. Expressions for bias and mean squared error of the proposed estimator are derived up to the first order of approximation. The proposed estimator is more efficient than the usual stratified sample mean estimator, traditional stratified ratio estimator and some other stratified estimators including Bahl and Tuteja (1991 Bahl, S., Tuteja, R. (1) Can the Huang (2010 Huang , K. C. ( 2010 ). Unbiased estimators of mean, variance and sensitivity level for quantitative characteristics in finite population sampling . In recent years, zero-inflated count data models, such as zero-inflated Poisson (ZIP) models, are widely used as the count data with extra zeros are very common in many practical problems. In order to model the correlated count data which are either clustered or repeated and to assess the effects of continuous covariates or of time scales in a flexible way, a class of semiparametric mixed-effects models for zero-inflated count data is considered. In this article, we propose a fully Bayesian inference for such models based on a data augmentation scheme that reflects both random effects of covariates and mixture of zero-inflated distribution. A computational efficient MCMC method which combines the Gibbs sampler and M-H algorithm is implemented to obtain the estimate of the model parameters. Finally, a simulation study and a real example are used to illustrate the proposed methodologies.  相似文献

Whenever there is auxiliary information available in any form, the researchers want to utilize it in the method of estimation to obtain the most efficient estimator. When there exists enough amount of correlation between the study and the auxiliary variables, and parallel to these associations, the ranks of the auxiliary variables are also correlated with the study variable, which can be used a valuable device for enhancing the precision of an estimator accordingly. This article addresses the problem of estimating the finite population mean that utilizes the complementary information in the presence of (i) the auxiliary variable and (ii) the ranks of the auxiliary variable for non response. We suggest an improved estimator for estimating the finite population mean using the auxiliary information in the presence of non response. Expressions for bias and mean squared error of considered estimators are derived up to the first order of approximation. The performance of estimators is compared theoretically and numerically. A numerical study is carried out to evaluate the performances of estimators. It is observed that the proposed estimator is more efficient than the usual sample mean and the regression estimators, and some other families of ratio and exponential type of estimators.  相似文献

We consider a continuous-time branching random walk on Z d , where the particles are born and die at a single lattice point (the source of branching). The underlying random walk is assumed to be symmetric. Moreover, corresponding transition rates of the random walk have heavy tails. As a result, the variance of the jumps is infinite, and a random walk may be transient even on low-dimensional lattices (d = 1, 2). Conditions of transience for a random walk on Z d and limit theorems for the numbers of particles both at an arbitrary point of the lattice and on the entire lattice are obtained.  相似文献

In the present article, we propose the generalized ratio-type and generalized ratio-exponential-type estimators for population mean in adaptive cluster sampling (ACS) under modified Horvitz-Thompson estimator. The proposed estimators utilize the auxiliary information in combination of conventional measures (coefficient of skewness, coefficient of variation, correlation coefficient, covariance, coefficient of kurtosis) and robust measures (tri-mean, Hodges-Lehmann, mid-range) to increase the efficiency of the estimators. Properties of the proposed estimators are discussed using the first order of approximation. The simulation study is conducted to evaluate the performances of the estimators. The results reveal that the proposed estimators are more efficient than competing estimators for population mean in ACS under both modified Hansen-Hurwitz and Horvitz-Thompson estimators.  相似文献
