Gay affirmative practice has recently been introduced into the social work literature as a culturally sensitive model for
working with gay, lesbian, and bisexual (GLB) adults, however, this model has rarely been applied to practice with GLB youth.
In this article, the authors review the literature to present the main tenets of gay affirmative practice, outline the challenges
that GLB youth face, and delineate the environmental and individual strengths that can be enhanced to promote well-being.
The authors then apply the gay affirmative practice model to GLB youth, offering concrete information about the specific knowledge,
attitudes, and skills that social workers should acquire to better serve the unique, yet diverse, needs of GLB youth. 相似文献

We characterize sets of alternatives which are Condorcet winners according to preferences over sets of alternatives, in terms
of properties defined on preferences over alternatives. We state our results under certain preference extension axioms which,
at any preference profile over alternatives, give the list of admissible preference profiles over sets of alternatives. It
turns out to be that requiring from a set to be a Condorcet winner at every admissible preference profile is too demanding,
even when the set of admissible preference profiles is fairly narrow. However, weakening this requirement to being a Condorcet
winner at some admissible preference profile opens the door to more permissive results and we characterize these sets by using
various versions of an undomination condition. Although our main results are given for a world where any two sets – whether
they are of the same cardinality or not – can be compared, the case for sets of equal cardinality is also considered.

We introduce a new class of problems that contains two existing classes: allocation problems with single-peaked preferences
and bankruptcy problems. On this class, we analyze the implications of well-known properties such as Pareto optimality, strategy-proofness,
resource-monotonicity, no-envy, equal treatment of equals, and two new properties we introduce, hierarchical no-envy and independence
of nonbinding constraints. Unlike earlier literature, we consider rules that allow free-disposability. We present characterizations
of a rule we introduce on this domain. We relate this rule to well-known rules on the aforementioned subdomains. Based on
this relation, we present a characterization of a well-known bankruptcy rule called the constrained equal awards rule.

This paper reports on a research programme that has investigated the migration experiences of highly skilled professional and business migrants to New Zealand. Over a four‐year period, five separate studies have been conducted on the stages in the process of migration. The paper sets out a model of the stages of the migration process and the data and analysis which it has guided. Of particular interest are the information sources available to potential migrants and employers, the cultural sensitivity of settlement processes and the migrants' subsequent ease of access to the labour market. The paper analyses information flows available to migrants at crucial phases in the migration process based on a stages model of the migration process. The model indicates some of the critical steps, interactions, and decisions in the migration process from the individual's point of view. This article presents the results of a study conducted with 243 Native American students who were part of a multi-ethnic sample of adolescents attending middle school in a large urban center in the Southwest region of the United States. Native adolescents who felt a stronger sense of belonging in their school were found to report a lower lifetime use of alcohol and cigarettes, lower cigarette and marijuana use in the previous month, lower frequency of current use of these substances, fewer substances ever used, and a later age of initiation into drug use than other Native students. Research implications are discussed in relationship to school environment, culturally-grounded prevention curricula, and school social work practice. 相似文献
