In singular spectrum analysis (SSA) window length is a critical tuning parameter that must be assigned by the practitioner. This paper provides a theoretical analysis of signal–noise separation and time series reconstruction in SSA that can serve as a guide to optimal window choice. We establish numerical bounds on the mean squared reconstruction error and present their almost sure limits under very general regularity conditions on the underlying data generating mechanism. We also provide asymptotic bounds for the mean squared separation error. Evidence obtained using simulation experiments and real data sets indicates that the theoretical properties are reflected in observed behaviour, even in relatively small samples, and the results indicate how, in practice, an optimal assignment for the window length can be made. 相似文献
This research seeks to investigate the relationship between globalization and the quality of government. By using the Quality of Government Institute data, the paper analyzes the relationships between globalization and the government quality. The paper uses both KOF scores and the scores by the Heritage Foundation to measure globalization. The results show that economic and political globalization is a significant predictor of the quality of government. When all the variables on economic freedom are taken into consideration, fiscal, business and trade freedoms are critical factors influencing the quality of governance. 相似文献
Rural development NGOs are often trapped into indefinite support for the grassroots organisations they help to create. This article explores an exit strategy whereby such NGOs help to establish multi‐tier apex organisations of, rather than for, the people, that are able to replace them. This enables them to move on to other communities or to address their resource constraints as donor funding becomes tighter. Drawing on fieldwork, it argues that a gradual withdrawal and building on community social capital are more likely to lead to the success of such a strategy. 相似文献
In this article, we investigate the potential usefulness of the three-parameter transmuted Weibull distribution for modeling survival data. The main advantage of this distribution is that it has increasing, decreasing or constant instantaneous failure rate depending on the shape parameter and the new transmuting parameter. We obtain several mathematical properties of the transmuted Weibull distribution such as the expressions for the quantile function, moments, geometric mean, harmonic mean, Shannon, Rényi and q-entropies, mean deviations, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves, and the moments of order statistics. We propose a location-scale regression model based on the log-transmuted Weibull distribution for modeling lifetime data. Applications to two real datasets are given to illustrate the flexibility and potentiality of the transmuted Weibull family of lifetime distributions. 相似文献
MRPP rank tests for two subgroups of unequal size are studied in detail. Based on the Pearson criteria, appropriate Pearson curves are suggested for their approximate distributions. On the basis ot extensive simulations, empirical powers of these tests are compared among themselves and with some standard nonparametric tests for several underlying populations. 相似文献
Fragmented management approach makes the provision of comprehensive health care for achieving universal health coverage very unlikely. This article aims to explore the potential contribution of a systemic approach—the sector‐wide approach (SWAp)—to achieving universal health coverage (UHC), using the Mongolian context as an example. The paper describes UHC and factors that hinder its achievement in developing countries, based on the Mongolian experience. The analysis focuses on the root factors hindering the achievement of UHC and examines how these affect system and local capacity critical for achieving UHC. Two principally different approaches, a sector‐wide (holistic) approach and a standalone project (fragmented) approach are compared in terms of their contribution to the main indicators of achieving UHC. The current stage of the Mongolian health SWAp is identified and early rewards of a SWAp are presented. The paper proposes a SWAp as a potential approach to tackle these root factors to help in achieving UHC, because it is a promising instrument that promotes a systems‐strengthening and capacity‐building approach to enable effective coordination of standalone projects in alignment with the national priorities. 相似文献
A ß-expectation tolerance region has been constructed for the multivariate regression model with heteroscedastic errors which follow a multivariate Student-t distribution with an unknown number of degrees of freedom. The ß-expectaion tolerance region obtained in this paper is optimal in the sense of having minimum enclosure among all such tolerance regions that guarantees that it would cover any preassigned proportions, namely, ß×100 percent of the future responses from the model. 相似文献
Mass migration is increasing urban populations globally. One country where urban migration is significantly increasing is Bangladesh, where systematic research will explore the reasons for urban migration in order to devise policies in this area, including maintaining the balance of urban–rural developments. This study used the Urban Health Survey (UHS) 2013 to ascertain the reasons for urban migration in large divisional cities in Bangladesh. The 2013 survey examined the differences between male and female migration, alongside any significant sociodemographic factors that might contribute to their motivation for moving to the city. The survey revealed that a majority of women (64.8%) migrated for family purposes, for example, joining husbands or in-laws, or parents/children. However, in recent years, female migrants have been involved in income-generating activities mostly due to a recent garment-making boom in Dhaka and its suburbs. A higher proportion of men (85.3%) moved to urban areas for work-related reasons: searching for new jobs, better income, or transfer in services. Among the sample in this study, 77% of the respondents (79.3% female and 73.5% male) migrated from villages. This migration mostly centered on Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, where 68.1% of the total study sample migrated followed by 15.7% who went to Chittagong. The results indicate that the contemporary urban-centered economic policy in Bangladesh might require revision to accommodate the increased migrants from rural areas.
Repeated measurement designs are widely used in medicine, pharmacology, animal sciences and psychology. These designs balance out the residual effects. The situations where balanced repeated measurements designs require a large number of the subjects, partially-balanced repeated measurements designs should be used. In this paper some infinite series are developed which provide circular partially-balanced repeated measurement designs for p (periods) even. Catalogues of circular partially-balanced repeated measurement designs are also presented for v (treatments) ≤ 100 with p = 5, 7 & 9. 相似文献
