Cook-statistic has been developed for detecting outliers in two likely situations of occurrence of outliers in multi-response experiments. In the first situation, more than one outlying observations vector has been considered. Each of these vectors is obtained on the assumption that a particular observation from each of the responses is an outlier. A general expression of Cook-statistic for detecting any such t outlying observations vectors has been obtained. Then some particular cases have been considered. In the second case a situation is considered where observations from all the responses may not be outliers. Here also a general expression of Cook-statistic is obtained for detecting any t observations from each of any k responses as outliers. In both the cases Cook-statistic is applied to real experimental data. 相似文献

ABSTRACT Neonatal and childhood pain experience is an unavoidable consequence of modern-day medical practice. Repeated exposure to noxious stimuli is not free from adverse consequences in adult life. Therefore it is important to minimize pain if unavoidable in early life. Parents need to be aware of the various measures available to minimize pain in infants and children. They need to be educated about the analgesic efficacy of nonpharmacological agents such as sucrose. Judicious use of these substances is advised to prevent the immediate and late consequences of early pain experience. 相似文献

This paper empirically examines the combined effects of globalization and financial development on income inequality in a unified framework for an emerging economy. Using annual data for the Indian economy over the period 1980–2014, we show that the perceived benefits of globalization and financial development have not trickled down; rather, has aggravated income inequality. Our results also indicate that while inflation aggravates income inequality, education seems to alleviate the differential effect. Proactive measures in providing access to financial services, creating equitable employment opportunities, and improving the quality of education are required to offset the negative impacts of globalization and financial development on income disparity. 相似文献

Walsh (1995) introduced a heuristic approach to motivate Stirling's formula by equating a Poisson probability to an analogous value from a normal density function. We explore similar heuristics to derive approximations for various binomial, negative binomial, and multinomial coefficients. Also, using heuristics markedly different from those of Walsh, we develop an approximation of (nk)! for positive integers n (large) and k. These heuristics are then used to validate Stirling's formula for Γ(nα) where α is a positive real number. To derive each of our approximations we use a different probability distribution, and hence each section may serve as pedagogical module. 相似文献

A modification of the sequential probability ratio test is proposed in which Wald's parallel boundaries are broken at some preassigned point of the sample number axis and Anderson's converging boundaries are used prior to that. Read's partial sequential probability ratio test can be considered as a special case of the proposed procedure. As far as 'the maximum average sample number reducing property is concerned, the procedure is as good as Anderson's modified sequential probability ratio test. 相似文献

Homelessness comes with a slew of challenges and a never-ending struggle for survival. This study examines the impact of the pandemic and lockdown on the homeless population of urban India. The study reflects on the experiences of the homeless in the major cities of India during the first wave of the pandemic as well as explores the aspect of their rights and the role of government policy in this regard. The methodology of the study is qualitative in nature, where secondary data collected from various sources such as news articles, blogs, books, journals, and reports are put to analysis for deriving the findings. The study reveals the sufferings of the homeless in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Their fight is not merely with the SARS-CoV-2 virus but also with hunger, unemployment, and neglect faced by them. The study highlights the fact that their rights are being compromised due to drawbacks relating to policy implementation. The study concludes with certain suggestions such as, addressing the loopholes in policy implementations and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. 相似文献
