A slacks-based measure of super-efficiency in data envelopment analysis: An alternative approach 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The current paper proposes a slack-based version of the Super SBM, which is an alternative super-efficiency model for the SBM proposed by Tone. Our two-stage approach provides the same super-efficiency score as that obtained by the Super SBM model when the evaluated DMU is efficient and yields the same efficiency score as that obtained by the SBM model when the evaluated DMU is inefficient. The projection identified by the Super SBM model may not be strongly Pareto efficient; however, the projection identified from our approach is strongly Pareto efficient. 相似文献

This study proposes necessary modifications to the existing internationalization–performance relationship to meet the idiosyncrasies of China-specific contexts. We first hypothesize an S-shaped internationalization–performance relationship as the baseline and then investigate the moderating effects of a firm's governance structure and the degree of centralized government control on the relationship between its internationalization and performance. The results, based on a longitudinal sample of manufacturing firms in China for the 2001–2007 period, indicate that (1) the S-shaped internationalization–performance relationship holds for firms in China; (2) the governance structure moderates the internationalization–performance relationship such that increased profitability through internationalization is more likely for modernized firms than for their conventional local counterparts; and (3) the degree of centralized control moderates the internationalization–performance relationship such that increased profitability through internationalization is more likely for firms affiliated with higher level governments than for those affiliated with lower-level governments. 相似文献

This article addresses the train-sequencing problem encountered in the Korean railway. It first presents a mixed integer programming model for the problem, in which the mileage must be balanced for each train route, while various field constraints must be satisfied, including overnight stay capacity and maintenance allocation restrictions. Then, it proposes a hybrid genetic algorithm as a solution approach to the problem. The proposed algorithm utilizes a modified elite group technique along with two heuristic procedures based on the mixed integer programming model. Finally, the proposed solution approach is tested with real-world data from the Korean railway. Numerical experiments under different conditions indicate that the proposed solution approach to the train-sequencing problem is promising. 相似文献

This paper responds to the revival of regionalism in the past two decades by showing that such a re-emergence is unequal. Comparing the practice of regional planning in China and England, this paper has demonstrated that the party-state in China and the liberal-democratic state in England have responded differently to this revival and developed different framework for regional administration and planning. This study considers a typical scheduling environment that is influenced by the behavioral phenomenon of multitasking. Under multitasking, the processing of a selected job suffers from interruption by other jobs that are available but unfinished. This situation arises in a wide variety of applications; for example, administration, manufacturing, and process and project management. Several classical solution methods for scheduling problems no longer apply in the presence of multitasking. The solvability of any scheduling problem under multitasking is no easier than that of the corresponding classical problem. We develop optimal algorithms for some fundamental and practical single machine scheduling problems with multitasking. For other problems, we show that they are computationally intractable, even though in some cases the corresponding problem in classical scheduling is efficiently solvable. We also study the cost increase and value gained due to multitasking. This analysis informs companies about how much it would be worthwhile to invest in measures to reduce or encourage multitasking. 相似文献

Primary objective: To determine the relative uses of neural action potential (‘spike’) data versus local field potentials (LFPs) for modeling
information flow through complex brain networks. Hypothesis: The common use of LFP data, which are continuous and therefore more mathematically suited for spectral information-flow
modeling techniques such as Granger causality analysis, can lead to spurious inferences about whether a given brain area ‘drives’
the spiking in a downstream area. Experiment: We recorded spikes and LFPs from the forelimb motor cortex (M1) and the magnocellular red nucleus (mRN), which receives
axon collaterals from M1 projection cells onto its distal dendrites, but not onto its perisomatic regions, as rats performed
a skilled reaching task. Results and implications: As predicted, Granger causality analysis on the LFPs—which are mainly composed of vector-summed dendritic currents—produced
results that if conventionally interpreted would suggest that the M1 cells drove spike firing in the mRN, whereas analyses
of spiking in the two recorded regions revealed no significant correlations. These results suggest that mathematical models
of information flow should treat the sampled dendritic activity as more likely to reflect intrinsic dendritic and input-related

In this paper we present two main results about the inapproximability of the exemplar conserved interval distance problem
of genomes. First, we prove that it is NP-complete to decide whether the exemplar conserved interval distance between any
two genomes is zero or not. This result implies that the exemplar conserved interval distance problem does not admit any approximation
in polynomial time, unless P=NP. In fact, this result holds, even when every gene appears in each of the given genomes at most three times. Second, we strengthen
the first result under a weaker definition of approximation, called weak approximation. We show that the exemplar conserved
interval distance problem does not admit any weak approximation within a super-linear factor of
, where m is the maximal length of the given genomes. We also investigate polynomial time algorithms for solving the exemplar conserved
interval distance problem when certain constrains are given. We prove that the zero exemplar conserved interval distance problem

Classical group testing (CGT) is a widely applicable biotechnical technique used to identify a small number of distinguished
objects from a population when the presence of any one of these distinguished objects among a group of others produces an observable result. This paper discusses a variant of CGT called group testing for disjoint pairs (GTAP). The difference between the two is that in GTDP, the distinguished items are pairs from, not individual objects in,
the population. There are several biological examples of when this abstract model applies. One biological example is DNA hybridization.
The presence of pairs of hybridized DNA strands can be detected in a pool of DNA strands. Another situation is the detection
of binding interactions between prey and bait proteins. This paper gives a random pooling method, similar in spirit to hypothesis
testing, which identifies pairs of objects from a population that collectively have an observable function. This method is
simply to apply, achieves good results, is amenable to automation and can be easily modified to compensate for testing errors.
