A modification is presented to Patterson's simple method of fitting an exponential equation that makes it even more simple. The method applies to n equally spaced levels between 4 and 12.  相似文献

The report describes the development of a mathematical model of the progress of patients with Wilm's Tumour using the methodology developed by Jackson & Aspden [1, 2]. The model incorporates two prognostic factors which are shown to influence patient progress. These are the stage of the tumour and the age of the patient at presentation. The model proved adequate to represent an initial set of patient data, and comparison runs were performed with data from a later time period. These runs highlighted changes in patient progress between the two groups and illustrated the usefulness of the model in this type of analysis. The analysis also underlined the poor prognosis of patients over 5 years old who relapsed.  相似文献

Tables of orthogonal comparisons for Fourier analysis have been derived from general expressions applicable to periodic data over one cycle, for equal spacing of the levels of the independent variable. The orthogonal comparisons can be used in conjunction with orthogonal polynomials to analyse factorial experiments with any number of levels and factors of periodic or polynomial type. The appropriate grouping of mean squares for significance testing is considered. A numerical example is given.  相似文献

The U.S. population by race and urban-rural residence from 1790 to 1860 is presented. The definition of the urban population used is that population residing in incorporated places of 2,500 population or more. The rural population is the residual of the total population minus the urban population, as defined above. The tables provide previously unavailable data on the urban-rural distribution of the black and white populations 1790–1860 and are compatible with data for the total population published by the Census Bureau.  相似文献
