An Empirical Analysis of Virtual Goods Permission Rights and Pricing Strategies

With the rapid development of the virtual world industry in the past few years, trading of virtual goods and services has grown significantly. Virtual goods creators can set different permissions to their creations, such as the length of usage, the ability to copy or modify a virtual good, or the ability to give the good to others. The permissions of virtual goods endow their creators with additional power to control the allocation and exchange of virtual goods in a virtual world. We examine how the unique virtual goods permission settings (copy, modify, and transfer) and other factors are associated with virtual goods prices. Using data from a Second Life marketplace, we find that permissions of virtual goods are not random, as creators strategically set the permissions for their virtual creations. Our results show that the copy and transfer permissions are significant factors associated with virtual goods prices. The impact of other factors on virtual goods prices is analyzed and managerial implications are discussed.

消费是人为了生存而进行的一种基本活动,一种生活方式。但随着科学技术的发展和经济的增长,现代社会已经进入到了生产过剩的时代,这必然引起大量的挥霍性消费随之而来。为此,本来作为人的生存方式的消费就成为一种违背人类可持续生存和发展利益的消费,最终也成为人类生存的最大威胁之一,因而,再次审视现代社会的消费观的理论基础是一项迫切的任务。     

‘No‐one respects them anyway’: secondary school students’ perceptions of human rights education in Turkey

The incorporation of compulsory courses on human rights into the secondary school curriculum in 1998 has been an important first step in developing respect for human rights and responsibilities among the younger generation in Turkey. Yet, these courses have many shortcomings in terms of materials, pedagogy and teacher attitudes. This paper explores Grades 7 and 8 (ages 13 and 14) students’ experiences in Citizenship and Human Rights Education courses on the basis of qualitative data collected through focus group discussions in Ankara and Istanbul in the 2006–2007 academic year. The responses of the students indicate that these courses have had little impact in empowering students or in facilitating them to consider their own or others’ human rights as an integral part of their lives. Rather, the students perceive the national and the global arena as characterized by mass human rights violations against which they feel powerless. The paper draws attention to the importance of a revised human rights education for students along with a global focus and appropriate methodology.     

School bullying and health-related quality of life in Chinese school-aged children and adolescents

To explore the association between bullying and HRQoL among Chinese school-aged children and adolescents utilizing a cross-sectional survey design. Bivariate associations were used to determine the correlation between the experience of bullying and lower HRQoL, and multivariate logistic regressions were evaluated. A total of 2,155 participants, 32.57%, reported experiencing bullying: traditional bullying, 27.80% (n = 599) (β = −3.55, p < .001, SE = 0.41), and cyberbullying, 7.47% (n = 161) (β = −2.50, p < .001, SE = 0.71). The degree of traditional bullying (β = −10.28, p < .001, SE = 1.19) was negatively significantly associated with HRQoL. Other determinants of the impact of the bullying in this cohort were the children's school performance and their relationship with parents, teachers and classmates.     

中国房地产市场波动对宏观经济波动的影响研究

 房地产的波动会通过多种途径影响一国的宏观经济状况。为说明房地产市场的波动对我国宏观经济的影响,我们通过协整和VAR分析,实证了：①房地产价格波动对我国消费的影响,得出房价波动对社会消费品零售总额的波动有显著的负影响,且房价波动对消费波动的方差贡献最小都大于2.5%左右;②我国房地产投资波动对经济增长的影响,研究表明,房地产投资额的波动对GDP的增长率有显著的正影响,当房地产投资额的增长率上升1个百分点时,GDP增长率上涨0.181个百分点,且1个单位的房地产投资波动的冲击在第4个季度时达到最大,之后缓慢衰减,这说明房地产投资的波动对GDP有长期的影响;③我国房地产价格波动对通货膨胀的影响,计量结果表明,当房价的增长速度上升1个百分点时,通货膨胀率则上升0.118个百分点,且通货膨胀率对房价波动冲击的响应比较小,在第8个月达到最大,以后则开始衰减,而且达到的最大的影响以后,甚至出现负的、不稳定的影响。

综观蒙古族当代文学研究，在文学原理的普及和文学民族性的理论探索、蒙古族当代作家作品批评、蒙古族诗学理论研究、蒙古族当代文学的宏观解读等方面尤为突出。要想构建新的蒙古族当代文学批评语境，探索蒙古族当代文学研究学术生长点，首先，必须强调蒙古族当代文学批评的独立地位和健全品格。新的蒙古族当代文学批评，不应像过去的批评那样追随于作家的创作之后，成为蒙古族当代文学作品的附庸，而应具有超前性和预测性。其次，必须强化蒙古族当代文学批评的多元格局，多元共生，是生态系统中的一个事实，新的蒙古族当代文学批评也应如此。
