An Extended Projection Data Depth and Its Applications to Discrimination

This article investigates the possible use of our newly defined extended projection depth (abbreviated to EPD) in nonparametric discriminant analysis. We propose a robust nonparametric classifier, which relies on the intuitively simple notion of EPD. The EPD-based classifier assigns an observation to the population with respect to which it has the maximum EPD. Asymptotic properties of misclassification rates and robust properties of EPD-based classifier are discussed. A few simulated data sets are used to compare the performance of EPD-based classifier with Fisher's linear discriminant rule, quadratic discriminant rule, and PD-based classifier. It is also found that when the underlying distributions are elliptically symmetric, EPD-based classifier is asymptotically equivalent to the optimal Bayes classifier.     

Fundamental Equations of BLUE and BLUP in the Multivariate Linear Model with Applications

Ordinary least squares estimator (OLSE), best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE), and best linear unbiased predictor (BLUP) in the general linear model with new observations are generalized to the general multivariate linear model. The fundamental equations of BLUE and BLUP in the multivariate linear model are derived by two methods, including the vectorization method and projection method. By using the matrix rank method, some new results of linear BLUE-sufficiency, linear BLUP-sufficiency, and the equality of OLSE, BLUE, and BLUP are given in the multivariate linear model.     

Consistency and Normality of M-Estimators in Partly Linear Models with Stochastic Adapted Errors

The robust M-estimators for the partly linear model under stochastic adapted errors are considered. It is shown that the M-estimator of parameter is asymptotically normal and the M-estimator of the nonparametric function achieves the optimal rate of convergence for nonparametric regression. Some known results are improved and generalized. Some simulations and a real data example are conducted to illustrate the proposed method.     

Some Theoretical Comparisons of Negative Binomial and Zero-Inflated Poisson Distributions

In this article, we compare the zero-inflated Poisson (ZIP) and negative binomial (NB) distributions based on three most important criteria: the probability of zero, the mean value, and the variance. Our results show that with same mean value and variance, the ZIP distribution always has a larger probability of zeros; with same mean value and probability of zeros, the NB distribution always has a larger variance; and with same variance and probability of zeros, the ZIP distribution always has a larger mean value. We also study the properties of Vuong test in model selection in three cases by simulations.     

A Simple Method Using CuScore to Monitor Changes in ARMA Coefficients

This paper suggests a simple nonmetric method for smoothing time series data. The smoothed series is the closest polytone curve to the presmoothed series in terms of least sum of absolute deviations. The method is exemplified on several seasonally adjusted series in order to estimate their trend component.

245例老年住院患者死因分析

目的了解干部病房老年住院患者的死因现状。方法对2006年至2008年三年间在我院干部病房住院期间245例老年死亡患者的临床资料进行统计分析。结果三年间干部病房老年住院患者的前三位死因依次为：恶性肿瘤、循环系统疾病、呼吸系统疾病。结论恶性肿瘤、心脑血管疾病、呼吸系统疾病是危害老年人生命的头三位严重疾患。

民国时期海外留学生的经济学学术成就普遍未得到学术界的重视和认可,而事实上,这一时期的海外留学生在留学期间运用西方现代经济学理论和方法研究了中国的大量的经济问题,并取得了显著的成就。本文以"三农"为视角剖析了张培刚在哈佛大学的博士论文《农业与工业化》,重点研究了张培刚从静态与动态视野下对农业与工业化关系的论述,以此管窥民国时期海外攻读博士学位的留学生在留学期间对于"三农"问题研究方面所取得的学术成就。     

农村信访活动非秩序化之消极影响与对策

信访制度是在社会主义初级阶段民主法制尚不完善的背景下实现和维护公民民主政治权利的具体形式,但随着改革开放的深入,我国现行的信访制度已经出现了困境,尤其是农村信访活动中出现了越来越多的影响秩序的非正常上访现象.论文对农村非正常上访现象进行了专门的研究,对处置此类问题的工作方法进行了专门分析,对现行处理方法的合理性、存在问题及其与和谐社会的目标要求进行比对思考,进而提出了建立和维护良好的信访活动秩序的若干对策与建议.
