Impatience versus Incentives

This paper studies the dynamics of long‐term contracts in repeated principal–agent relationships with an impatient agent. Despite the absence of exogenous uncertainty, Pareto‐optimal dynamic contracts generically oscillate between favoring the principal and favoring the agent.     

Managing Logistics in Regional Banknote Supply Chain Under Security Concerns

We study the logistics problem faced by Regional Branches (RBs) of a central bank in managing the currency supply under security concerns. While making banknote supply decisions to Sub‐Branches (SBs), the management of RB must achieve two goals simultaneously: (i) guarantee that each SB has sufficient inventories of all denominations of banknotes to satisfy the demands from all commercial banks within its service area, and (ii) control the annual spending on this banknote supply operation. Due to security concerns, the following methods are implemented in the process of transporting banknotes: (i) the capacity of a cash truck is limited by the total face value (instead of the physical space) of banknotes, and (ii) empty decoy trucks are deployed along with the trucks filled with banknotes. After deriving a polynomial‐time strategy to guarantee an optimal solution for the special Bin‐Packing Problem faced in this study, we provide an exact formulation for the RB's supply planning problem. We also propose several polynomial‐time algorithms for deriving either optimal or near‐optimal solutions for the problem under different settings. Using the weekly demand data obtained from the central bank, we verify the performance of our algorithms, and analyze the impacts of changes in these features and in the fleet capacity on the total cost incurred by an RB under various scenarios.     

Abundance estimation with a categorical covariate subject to missing in continuous-time capture-recapture studies

Abstract

In continuous-time capture-recapture experiments, individual heterogeneity has a large effect on the capture probability. To account for the heterogeneity, we consider an individual covariate, which is categorical and subject to missing. In this article, we develop a general model to summarize three kinds of missing mechanisms, and propose a maximum likelihood estimator of the abundance. A likelihood ratio confidence interval of the abundance is also proposed. We illustrate the proposed methods by simulation studies and a real data example of a bird species prinia subflava in Hong Kong.     

中国区域经济理论演进与未来展望

中国区域经济70年的发展离不开科学有效的区域经济理论支撑。在服务区域经济发展现实与借鉴国外区域经济理论方法的基础上,中国区域经济理论的演进呈现以解决现实问题为导向的阶段性特征,逐渐形成了"引进-吸收-消化-创新"的发展模式。中国区域经济理论在研究视角、研究范式、研究内容及发展模式等方面表现出不同于西方区域经济理论的差异性特征。面对跨越中等收入陷阱与区域经济高质量发展的现实要求,中国区域经济理论研究未来将在学科融合、假设前提、研究范畴、研究机制与区域政策等方面取得突破性进展。此外,本文还对"十四五"时期中国区域经济理论研究进行了展望。     

四海之内皆兄弟:从《我的几个世界》看赛珍珠的世界公民思想

赛珍珠作为文学上的民族书写者的形象和定位早已深入人心,但实际上,特殊的命运和经历使得她超越了单一民族的禁锢和束缚,成为一个有着"四海之内皆兄弟"情怀的世界公民。在自传《我的几个世界》中,赛珍珠回顾作为一名"第三文化小孩"的特殊成长经历和背景,追溯了自身世界公民思想的来源,同时,也通过对狭隘的民族主义、文化沙文主义以及种族主义的批判,阐述了自己的世界公民思想和主张。     

失地农户生计策略多样化研究

利用九江和襄阳两地的失地农户调查数据,刻画失地农户生计策略多样化特征;并利用广义线性模型和广义线性混合模型,分析生计资本对失地农户生计多样化的影响。主要研究结论包括：1）失地前后农户的生计多样化与收入水平、兼业程度和劳动力流动具有某种关联;2）失地农户实施生计多样化的能力依赖于一定的生计资本,生计资本的提高有助于扩展失地农户实施生计多样化的能力;3）生计多样化虽然是失地农户发展生计的重要途径,但当生计资本超过某个临界点后农户不再将生计多样化作为其最优的选择。     

话语伦理学的一次文学实践——以胡风事件为例

胡风事件的发生距今已有半个世纪,但回想起来仍令人震惊不已。与过去相比,今日的文学环境显然有很大的改善,但前些日子的韩（寒）白（烨）之争仍让笔者心存不安,中国人的非理性由来已久,由此可见一斑。改革开放以来,世界先进文化的理念不断涌入,哈贝马斯提出的交往理性和话语伦理学的理论便为我们解决这一问题提供了一个很好的参考工具。     

浅析中国城市的都市区划研究

城市总是在发展的过程中,城市地域在不断地扩大,和周边的联系在不断强化,相对稳定的区划格局很显然不能持续反映城市体系的变化,更不能长久地促进以城市为核心的整个区域的发展,所以发达国家积极探讨设立独立于行政区外的地域概念实体来解决这个矛盾,美国、加拿大等发达国家通过"都市区"来解决行政区划和城市发展脱节的问题.     

在中部崛起背景下长株潭城市群一体化建设研究

一、背景 最近,国家明确提出中部崛起战略,要求中部六省以中心城市和交通干线为依托,立足于自身的自然资源、地理区位和加工制造业等优势,加速发展各自的城市群和产业带.结合各自实际,中部六省相继提出中心城市群发展战略,如大太原、中原城市群;大武汉、长株潭、环鄱阳湖城市群;皖江城市带等发展战略.与西部大开发、东北老工业基地振兴、东部率先发展相呼应,中部六省现已进入加速发展时期.     

滨海新区土地的开发与高效利用

继深圳、浦东之后,国家将大规模开发天津滨海新区.国家"十一五"发展规划,将开发滨海新区列入国家重要的战略布局,期冀通过开发滨海新区,带动环渤海区域经济发展,进而改变我国经济"南快北慢"的局面.这给滨海新区带来了前所未有的发展机遇,但同时,土地资源的有限性也成为制约滨海新区发展速度的因素之一.因此滨海新区今后的土地开发方向、如何实现土地资源的高效利用成为目前亟须研究的课题.
