In the scheduling literature the learning effect is perceived as a process of acquiring experience by a processor (e.g. a human worker) in one ability. However, in many real-life problems the processor, during execution of jobs, increases its experience in different, very often independent, abilities (skills). In consequence, it causes the overall growth of the efficiency of the processor. According to this observation, in this paper, we bring into scheduling a new approach called multi-ability learning that generalizes the existing ones and models more precisely real-life settings. On this basis, we focus on a makespan minimization problem with the proposed learning model and provide optimal polynomial time algorithms for its special cases, which often occur in management. 相似文献

ABSTRACTThe recent wave of occupations has had a transformative effect on radical politics, but, to date, many have been restricted in their social and spatial expansion. Reflecting on these challenges, this article examines workplace occupation in the coordinadoras interfabriles in Argentina (1975–6) and the cordones industriales in Chile (1972–3) to understand how they overcame barriers to such expansion. Starting from debates in critical geography and social movement studies on space and occupations, I unpack the possibilities for popular power that emerged in this period by using approaches from critical labour studies and autonomist Marxism. First, I outline the generative role of the workplace in producing these possibilities in a context of wider social change. Second, I demonstrate how the capacity for expansion lay in the simultaneous capacity to disrupt and reconstruct social relations derived from solidarities that exceeded the existing physical space of occupation. 相似文献

Child welfare professionals (CWPs) have historically been ignored as a potential delivery system of relationship and marriage education (RME). Based on a sample of 1015 CWPs from two states, the current study shows that CWPs believe promoting healthy couple and marital relationships is relevant to the families they serve and their work, and that they are open to receiving RME training. Results from structural equation modeling indicate that CWPs' beliefs about the relevancy and appropriateness of RME may be influenced by their current RME ability and comfort level, their beliefs about the state of marriage and the prevalence of couples in their current caseload of families they serve. Implications related to promoting RME within child welfare and engaging CWPs in RME training are discussed. 相似文献

Under apartheid, there were an ever-increasing number of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) concerned about challenging the South African state and furthering a nonracial democratic society. In the 1990s, with the transition to an African National Congress-led democratic government, these organizations underwent profound changes. There is considerable interest in understanding how factors such as time and geographic distance between isolates might influence the evolutionary direction of foot‐and‐mouth disease. Genetic differences between viruses can be measured as the proportion of nucleotides that differ for a given sequence or gene. We present a Bayesian hierarchical regression model for the statistical analysis of continuous data with sample space restricted to the interval (0, 1). The data are modelled using beta distributions with means that depend on covariates through a link function. We discuss methodology for: (i) the incorporation of informative prior information into an analysis; (ii) fitting the model using Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling; (iii) model selection using Bayes factors; and (iv) semiparametric beta regression using penalized splines. Repeated measures designs such as daily diary methods provide flexibility for examinations of fluid phenomena. The focus of this paper is to evaluate the effectiveness of Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) as data collection tools with an end of the day (EOD) diary design and a non-professional sample. Participants reported the PDA was easy to use, convenient and enhanced the privacy of their responses. The PDAs minimized data entry errors and increased the data validity because responses were time stamped. Given the overall positive nature of participant reactions and the additional data PDAs make available to the researcher, the technology is recommended for further use in collecting data with non-professionals or in other couple or family research. 相似文献

Despite affirmation that students with disabilities should have equal access to education, individuals with disabilities are still not participating to the same degree as individuals without disabilities, particularly within postsecondary institutions. Students in Health and Human Service (HHS) programs experience many unique challenges and disadvantages. In-depth focus groups and interviews were conducted with 14 university stakeholders in HHS programs regarding their perceptions and experiences of working with students with disabilities. We found that the rhetoric of citizenship, specifically notions of rationality, autonomy, and productivity, interacts with beliefs about students with disabilities to allow stakeholders to justify their exclusion or limited participation. Our findings demonstrate how taken-for-granted beliefs can limit the inclusion of students with disabilities in ways that seem natural and unproblematic. 相似文献
