AbstractObjective: This study assessed university policies for addressing confidentiality issues for students seeking STI services. Participants: Universities with sponsored health insurance plans (SHIP) and/or wellness centers were selected from a university health services survey in 2017. Methods: STI service coverage and polices for addressing confidentiality issues related to explanation of benefit (EOB) forms were stratified by institution type (4-year versus 2-year) and minority serving institution (MSI) status. Rao-Scott chi-square tests were used to assess for differences in STI service coverage and polices. Results: More non-MSIs (61.6%) had SHIPs compared to MSIs (40.0%, p?<?.001). Only 40.8% of health centers had a policy for addressing EOB-related confidently issues. Of those, the most reported policy was that students could pay out-of-pocket to avoid generating an EOB (36.2%). Conclusions: Reducing confidentiality barriers are important for STI prevention in students. Universities may consider establishing policies for addressing EOB-related confidentiality concerns. 相似文献

AbstractThis article describes the initial phase of a user-centered, inductive process for informing the development of a smartphone application (app) to complement an in-person trauma-focused knowledge and skills training class for child welfare resource parents (i.e. foster, kinship, and adoptive parents). Based on the participatory design approach for technology development, a qualitative study was designed to capture and triangulate relevant knowledge and opinions from resource parents, training instructors, and parenting education experts. The most prevalent themes emerging among these stakeholder groups included the need for a simple app interface and the potential for the app to (1) cultivate connection, affirmation, and combat resource parent feelings of isolation; (2) reinforce in-class knowledge and support skill practice at home; and (3) monitor resource parent, child, and family progress over time. Detailed findings are presented, including direct quotes from focus group and interview participants and elaboration on the prevalent themes, which may benefit others in the early stages of human services app design and contribute to the creation of guidelines for the development of technology-based human services interventions. 相似文献

In the paradigm of computer experiments, the choice of an experimental design is an important issue. When no information is
available about the black-box function to be approximated, an exploratory design has to be used. In this context, two dispersion
criteria are usually considered: the minimax and the maximin ones. In the case of a hypercube domain, a standard strategy consists of taking the maximin design within the class of Latin hypercube designs. However, in a non hypercube context, it does not make sense to use the
Latin hypercube strategy. Moreover, whatever the design is, the black-box function is typically approximated thanks to kernel
interpolation. Here, we first provide a theoretical justification to the maximin criterion with respect to kernel interpolations. Then, we propose simulated annealing algorithms to determine maximin designs in any bounded connected domain. We prove the convergence of the different schemes. Finally, the methodology is applied

Of the limited number of studies employing positive event (uplift) measures none have published detailed psychometric information
about the scale that was used (Maybery and Graham, 2001, Stress and Health 17, pp. 91–104). Building on previous work with
university students and employing conceptually distinct measurement strategies (i.e. measuring event frequency and intensity),
this paper examined the component structure, concurrent validity and reliability of an uplift measure designed for an adult
middle aged population. The 373 participants were 73% female, largely in paid work (72%), in permanent relationships (69%),
62% having children and the sample having a mean age of 41.83 years (SD = 16.14). Principal component analyses of separate
frequency and intensity scores from 43 uplifts highlighted generally consistent component structures. The nine uplift factors
were friends, social events, work, interactions with workers, with supervisor, spouse/partner, parents, children and household.
There were moderate to strong correlations between frequency and intensity scores for each subscale. The subscales had very
good reliabilities and weak to moderate correlations with well-being instruments (life satisfaction and positive affect) and
selected personality variables, and as expected there were no correlations with distress or negative affect. The results highlight
a generally clear uplift factor structure that includes a range of interpersonal, social and work subscales from the positive
event domains. The findings extend previous research by improving the conceptual understanding of the sources of uplifting
events for individuals and provide a valid and reliable measure for future research. 相似文献

Numerous studies have shown that the sex ratio at birth, defined as the relative number of male and female births, may be
dramatically lower for small cohorts with high chemical exposures. Meanwhile, reports from different countries have shown
recent declines in male births for the general population, perhaps implicating environmental factors. The sex ratio at birth
has, therefore, been suggested by some as a sentinel environmental health indicator. This paper examines variation observed
in sex ratio at birth in Greece since 1960. The analysis incorporates a number of demographic parameters including the age
and nationality of the mother, partnership status and birth order, as well as urbanisation level. The latter is considered
an indirect indicator of potential environmental incidence. Our main finding is that the sex ratio in Greece has experienced
a slight, albeit statistically significant, downward trend, especially since 1980. Further, this decline is not attributable
to changing demographics. Geographical differentiations were found to be quite significant: the sex ratio is significantly
higher in rural areas compared to urban centres or Greater Athens, and this difference is increasing over time. We offer a
preliminary interpretation suggesting that these temporal and spatial trends may, at least partly, be attributed to chemicals’
exposure due to higher levels of indoor and outdoor air pollution and different consumption habits encountered in urban settings.
We argue that such possibilities warrant further research with explicit measures of exposure.

The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze use of pornographic material in a representative sample of adult Norwegians. The data collection was carried out by means of a standardized questionnaire administered via personal telephone interviews. Among the 90% of participants who reported ever having examined pornography, 76% reported examining a pornographic magazine, 67% had watched a pornographic film, and 24% had examined pornography on the Internet. Significant gender differences emerged in the reporting. The percentage of men and women who reported frequent use of pornography was small. We identified three dimensions of attitudes toward pornography: pornography as a means of sexual enhancement, pornography as a moral issue, and social climate. These attitude dimensions were included in path models as intermediating variables between demographic variables (age, gender, and level of education) and frequency of reading or watching pornographic materials. These models explained 36% of the variance in frequency of watching pornographic films, 35% of the variance in frequency of reading pornographic magazines, and 21% of the variance in frequency of watching pornography on the Internet. 相似文献

This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation on how increased expected information affects subjects' choices. We show that Claude Henry's (1974) result (the Irreversibility Effect) is strongly supported by our experimental data. According to the Irreversibility Effect a rational (expected utility maximizing) agent who anticipates more information before making his future choices, will take a less irreversible position today. In our experiment, present and future choices are framed respectively as portfolio and investment decisions. The degree of irreversibility (or flexibility) chosen by experimental subjects in response to additional information indicated that subjects react to anticipated information as predicted by theory. 相似文献

Die Untersuchung stützt sich auf eine Befragung von mehr als 3 000 Personen im Alter zwischen 20 und 60 Jahren in Ost- und
Westdeutschland. Die Ergebnisse zeigen: Entlassungen werden nicht als selbstverst?ndlich akzeptiert. Darauf weisen die Bewertungen
hypothetischer Szenarien und eigener Erfahrungen hin. Durch die Prozessgestaltung kann jedoch die Wahrnehmung der Ma?nahmen
positiv oder negativ beeinflusst werden.
