Bivariate Bernoulli and bivariate geometric distributions are proposed to model reciprocity in weighted and unweighted networks. Sampling properties of commonly used reciprocity measures are studied, under both presence and absence of reciprocity. Extensions to situations where link parameters depend on outgoing and incoming nodes are investigated. A test for homogeneity of several populations against the simple tree alternative is proposed when the observations in various groups are subject to the same pattern of random right-censorship. The test is a generalization of the one proposed by Slivka (1970) which is useful when testing time is expensive so that an early termination of an experiment is desirable. The well‐being of children in informal kinship care and their caregivers is a growing concern globally. This study explored the lived experiences of 23 kin caregivers raising children left behind in rural Northeast China while their migrant parents worked and lived in cities. The findings show that the expected authority and responsibility caregivers carry sometimes conflict with their social role of being children's grandparents. Caregivers' feelings about and understandings of these roles are shaped through their social interactions in local communities. In view of their situation and caregivers' self‐conscious attitudes towards utilizing local resources' future formal service provision and social support should take caregivers' viewpoints into account. These views are embedded in and shaped by their rural living context and relationships with community members who influence caregivers' perceptions and child rearing practices. 相似文献

Student of Color often reference racial microaggressions when asked to describe their post-secondary experience. The racial battle fatigue framework assists in understanding the cumulative, negative effect of racial microaggressions on psychological, behavioral, and physiological outcomes. This paper assesses the racial battle fatigue framework for African American and Mexican American college students and the impact of coping on racial stress. Results demonstrate that racial microaggressions negatively impact stress responses for African American and Mexican Americans differently, but coping may help alleviate the impact of racial battle fatigue. Universities can address racial microaggressions and negative health outcomes by educating campus constituents about racial microaggressions, addressing Whiteness, and providing education about adaptive coping strategies. 相似文献

We employ a discretetime hazard model and a Blinder-decomposition approach to explore the possibility of racial discrimination
in the dismissal and retention of college football coaches by university administrations. A rich data set consisting of 81
institutions over an 11-year period (1990–2000) that contains, in addition to a coach's race, variables on cumulative winning
records, annual on-the-field improvements, and pre-/post-season game participation by institutions and their coaches is employed.
Our study finds that black coaches, on average, face a dismissal probability that is 9.6 percentage points below that of their
nonblack counterparts, ceteris paribus, suggesting that black head coaches may be the beneficiaries of favorable treatment
by university administrators. Such a result likely stems from universities ' approach to social concerns involving race and
gender issues. This finding also fits a construct that considers workplace discrimination as multi-dimensional. For example,
black representation in the college football coaching ranks may be disproportionately low, possibly as a result of discrimination.
