ABSTRACT Social work education in Australia has been based in universities since the 1940s. There are now 32 higher education providers offering social work programs across Australia. The significant growth in master’s level qualifying programs in Australia, along with recent higher education policy changes, has increased the need for social work academic faculty members with doctoral qualifications. This paper presents the findings of a scoping review of literature on social work doctoral education. Despite a growing literature on social work doctoral education in international contexts, the review found that there is a lack of Australian research and evidence on social work doctoral pedagogy, the number and diversity of doctoral students, the doctoral student experience, and doctoral graduate employment intentions and outcomes. Addressing the lack of Australian research in this area would be an important step to enabling Australian social work to address future research training and capacity needs and directions. The objective of this study was to examine the association between biomedical markers of disease management and psychosocial
constructs, while also assessing the correlates and predictors of variability for satisfaction with life (SWL) among African
American and Hispanic participants with type 2 diabetes. Data were collected from 142 participants during their first visit
within a collaborative care program. Pearson product moment correlations, a multiple linear regression, and a one-way analysis
of variance were used to examine the research questions. Researchers found psychological distress, social support, and spirituality
accounted for twice the amount of variance in SWL for African American participants compared to Hispanic participants. Social
support was the strongest predictor of SWL for African American participants, while psychological distress was the strongest
predictor of SWL for Hispanic participants. Social support moderated the relationship between psychological distress and SWL
for Hispanic participants, but not African American participants. Spirituality did not moderate the relationship for either
ethnic group. One significant relationship was noted for BMI and somatization; otherwise, no significant relationships were
documented between psychosocial-spiritual and biomedical constructs, which may relate to limited variability in HbA1c. Clinicians
and researchers who work with underserved minority patients with uncontrolled diabetes may see improvement in patients’ SWL
when screening, treating, and/or studying psychological distress, interpersonal strain, and existential struggles. It is important
for practitioners and researchers to consider ethnic group differences in their work since some dissimilarity existed. 相似文献

The professionalization of certain management occupations, such as project management and human resource management, has been neglected in recent debates on professions, which instead focus upon the deregulation of collegial professions or the failure or unwillingness of new expert occupations to professionalize. Project management represents one of a handful of ‘management professions’ which confound this interpretation, explicitly pursuing a ‘corporate professionalization’ project with some degree of success. This paper focuses on the strategic activities of the principal British professional association in this field, the Association for Project Management (APM), as it negotiates a path between exploiting established sources of legitimacy and exploring a novel conception of professionalism. In the process, the association manipulates collegial and corporate logics of professionalism, in terms of its relationships with key stakeholders, its global orientation, its knowledge base and strategies of occupational closure. Drawing on interviews with APM officials and broader documentary analysis, we analyse the conditions which have produced this hybrid model of professionalism, highlighting the pragmatic management of tensions through the combination of distinct, even contradictory, professionalization logics. 相似文献

Polytomous Item Response Theory (IRT) models are used by specialists to score assessments and questionnaires that have items with multiple response categories. In this article, we study the performance of five model comparison criteria for comparing fit of the graded response and generalized partial credit models using the same dataset when the choice between the two is unclear. Simulation study is conducted to analyze the sensitivity of priors and compare the performance of the criteria using the No-U-Turn Sampler algorithm, under a Bayesian approach. While advocacy was essential to establishing the field of marriage and family therapy, at present a social and political advocacy skill set is lacking for the typical marriage and family therapist (MFT). This article reviews the importance of being active in social and political advocacy and highlights the attributes of MFTs’ professional identity that uniquely position us for success in these areas. Other mental health fields’ pedagogical approaches to training and education are explored, and recommendations are made for how MFTs can begin to increase their competency in advocacy. Ideas for incorporating advocacy into a professional identity are presented for MFTs at every level of professional experience. Finally, the concept self‐of‐the‐advocate is introduced and discussed. 相似文献
