This study identifies perceived mobility, security, connectedness, system and service quality, usefulness, attitude, and flow experience as key motivational factors for using social networking services (SNSs), and develops a theoretical model that explicates the process in which users adopt Facebook and Twitter by integrating these factors with the technology acceptance model (TAM). While results of structural equation modeling (SEM) on the collected data (N = 2,214) verified the validity and reliability of the research model, Facebook and Twitter users were found to emphasize different motivational factors when deciding to use SNSs. The implications of notable findings and directions for future studies are discussed. 相似文献

Despite a huge amount of speculation and expectation surrounding medical tourism, hard empirical evidence is only now beginning to emerge. This paper widens the focus of discussion by contrasting two country experiences (UK and Korea) which on the surface illustrate the diversity of medical tourism and little else. However, considered more comparatively, the accounts contribute toward wider, albeit tentative, theoretical understandings, and insights. The paper is drawn from two broad programs of empirical study conducted over three years in UK and Korea, respectively. The article is structured in three parts: first, a brief overview of policy, legislative, and accreditation frameworks that exist to govern medical tourist flows. Second, we present evidence around flows, demographics, treatment, and medical tourism for Korea and UK (both for supply and demand). Third, we examine conceptual and theoretical implications of this evidence. We argue that viewing medical tourism as a global market is problematic; some medical tourist markets are best viewed as networks with long-term exchange relationships; some specific areas of activity do function more strongly as price-related; decision making around medical tourism frequently involves a range of information and social networks (economic action as embedded social structure); and medical tourism is a function of globalization. 相似文献

Drawing on a qualitative exploratory study of the gambling narratives of a group of Chinese men with problem gambling in Hong Kong, this paper proposes an alternative understanding of problem gambling. Rather than identifying problem gambling as a personal deficit or pathology, a narrative analysis of these Chinese men's gambling stories reveals their existential yearnings behind problem gambling. Told from the perspectives of these men, their gambling narratives invite us as researchers and practitioners to explore the meanings gamblers ascribe to gambling which they derived from the interplay between the socioeconomic and cultural ethos of the society and their personal histories. This offers us new insights into their motivations of gambling. As an attempt to fill the methodological gap in gambling studies, this paper also shows how an in-depth narrative research method can contribute to expanding our understanding of problem gambling beyond pathology. 相似文献

This paper studies the effects of component commonality in the context of an infinite horizon inventory model. Three models are proposed that are characterized by different degrees of component commonality. Assuming the three models all follow the same inventory policy, exact service level measures are derived and incorporated into cost optimization problems. With the infinite horizon assumption, potential setup cost reductions can be evaluated due to the inclusion of common components. The results indicate that, as expected, commonality incurs significant cost savings; what is new and unique is that setup cost may increase or decrease when commonality is present. In addition, when the behaviour of the optimal solutions is examined, it is found that some of the well-known properties suggested by the existing one-period models do not hold for this infinite horizon model. 相似文献

ABSTRACT Social work education, first introduced to the Chinese mainland in the 1920s, was eliminated from all universities in the early 1950s, but was restored to higher education institutions to respond to the growing demand for social workers in the end of 1980s to resolve escalating social problems triggered by the open-door economic policy. In this paper, the authors will present the concept of transformative partnership and discuss the evolvement of the partnership relationship between The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Peking University during the past thirty years in fostering the reconstruction of social work education in Mainland China from 1988 to 2018 and beyond. The authors will illustrate the gradual deepening of our partnership from one which was transactional to one that is transformative in nature. The authors believe that our partnership has not only transformed the traditional paradigm of professional education in China but has also transformed all the key stakeholders involved, particularly the educators, students and service-users through the partnership process. 相似文献
