The standard technique for estimating the variance of a linear regression coefficient is unbiased when the random errors of the observational units are independent and identically distributed. When the unit variances are not all equal, however, as is often the case in practice, this method can be biased. An unbiased variance estimator given uncorrelated, but not necessarily homoscedastic, unit errors is introduced here and compared to the conventional technique using real data. 相似文献

Peer victimization is a common occurrence in school settings. This study investigated the relationship between peer victimization and school adjustment in a sample of 1,022 sixth-grade students. Measures used in this study include peer victimization, perceived peer non-support, school attachment, inattention problems, and academic achievement. Multivariate path analyses were conducted to test direct and mediation effects in the over-all model and to explore gender differences. The results provided support for the hypothesized model indicating that the relationship between peer victimization and school attachment is mediated by perceived peer non-support, and that school attachment is related to inattentive school behaviors and poor academic achievement. Paths indicated invariance across models for gender. Prevention and intervention implications of these findings are discussed. 相似文献

By offering negative sanctions for certain types of behavior, a society preserves its stability and reaffirms its norms. What is labeled as deviant varies from social context to social context. The social worker should not be preoccupied with deviant behavior per se, but with the individual, himself. He should treat the deviant within the same metapsychological perspective that he utilizes for the treatment of any patient. He studies the patient's wishes, conflicts, and life story, and particularly focuses on where psychosexual maturation has been halted.
