近代汉语数词表示法

本文从近代汉语经典文献中收集、整理、归纳出零数、整数、序数、虚数、约数、分数、倍数、问数等数词表示法，并比照古代汉语和现代汉语数词表示方法，从中发现近代汉语在汉语史上“桥梁”意义。     

Practical problems in sampling for social and demographic inquiries in undeveloped countries

This article discusses practical problems in connexion with the taking of sample surveys for demographic inquiries in undeveloped countries.

The discussion is divided into three main topics, dealing with the problems of definitions, sampling and operation of a sample survey. The, conclusion reached is that, where previous information is available for the selection of a sample, the difficulties encountered in the problems of definition and operation are generally-intensified forms of those to be overcome in surveys in developed countries. Otherwise, the sampling aspect itself will constitute a difficult problem, for the solution of which experimental surveys in the form of sequential chain experiments carried out by the Indian Statistical Institute for crop surveys may have to be used.     

《诗经·蒹葭》"遡洄""遡游"诂训

<诗经·秦风·蒹葭>有叠句:"遡洄从之,……;遡游从之,……".其中"遡洄"、"遡游"何义?二者的区别何在?自古以来,训释家大同而不确诂,小异而见矛盾.本文认为,"遡"当训本词本义:趋向、朝向."洄",逆流而上;"游",顺流而下."遡洄":指诗人朝着逆流而上的方向走去."遡游",指诗人朝着顺流而下的方向走去.

在儒家正统哲学中,"性"作为人得以成立之依据,乃是天赋的.这也可以表述为"性善论".<郭店楚简·性自命出>篇的贡献在于,它论证了人性(天性)之实践环节在"心"上,由此形成"心性不二"的天-人关系框架.突出"心"之本体地位,"人道"内在同一于"天道",对"天道"的追求也实践地落实为人道追求;但另一方面,人道实践乃是天道实现的环节,又深刻地区别于"人类中心"的泥淖,从而有助于建立天-人,人-物的合宜关系.

信仰的缺失与重塑

信仰是人的目的性要求的终极目标及趋向,是构成人的目的性要求的前提和基点。信仰危机产生于人的目的性要求与自然界、人的目的性要求与现实世界的双向否定性关系。由此提醒我们既要保持清醒的反思批判意识,又要坚持“负责的人性”,从而在创造自身的实践活动中葆有自由的可能和向上的张力。     

Trends in marijuana and other illicit drug use among college students: results from 4 Harvard School of Public Health College Alcohol Study surveys: 1993-2001

The authors examined changes in college students' illicit drug use, patterns of polydrug use, and the relationship between students' ages of initiation of substance use and later use of marijuana and other illicit drugs between 1993 and 2001. Data from 119 US colleges and universities in the Harvard School of Public Health College Alcohol Study were used in the study. They found significant increases in percentages of students' use of marijuana in the past 30 days (from 13% to 17%), past year (from 23% to 30%), and lifetime (from 41% to 47%) between 1993 and 2001, with most of the increase occurring between 1993 and 1997. Past 30-day use of other illicit drugs increased from 4% to 7% and past year use increased from 11% to 14%. More than 98% of marijuana and other illicit drug users used another substance. They also either smoked, were binge drinkers, and/or were users of another illicit drug. Drug prevention programs should emphasize heavy alcohol use and smoking and should start when students are in high school or earlier.
