The Features of Development in the Pacific Countries of the African,Caribbean and Pacific Group

In this article we present a new proposal for the measurement of development, applied to the Pacific Countries of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group (ACP), conditional on their insularity, and with privileged relations with the European Union. Our index has been constructed attending to the criteria defined in the Goals of the Millennium Declaration. For this purpose we will use the P₂ distance method for the year 2007, the last year for which data are available. This index integrates socio-economic variables that permit a territorial ordering of the Pacific ACPs, in terms of those partial indicators.

一、问题的提出中国传统社会的宗族形态及其内涵 ,因社会经济条件和文化背景差别 ,在不同时期和不同地区呈现出许多差异。在福建、广东、香港、澳门等地区广泛存在的宗族组织 ,是该地区独特的文化和历史过程的产物。宗族发展历史中的文化过程 ,蕴涵着社会变迁的重要信息。从意识形态的角度来考虑的话 ,作为组织严密、结构完整、制度完善的中国宗族组织 ,到本世纪 5 0年代可以说已划上了句号。但这种制度化宗族的消失并不意味着基于血缘和文化机制的宗族关系的解体。这种关系即使是在运动频繁的 5 0到 70年代 ,也并没有为轰轰烈烈的革命运动…

Aspects of Arranged Marriages and the Theory of Markov Decision Processes

The theory of Markov decision processes (MDP) can be used to analyze a wide variety of stopping time problems in economics. In this paper, the nature of such problems is discussed and then the underlying theory is applied to the question of arranged marriages. We construct a stylized model of arranged marriages and, inter alia, it is shown that a decision maker's optimal policy depends only on the nature of the current marriage proposal, independent of whether there is recall (storage) of previous marriage proposals.     

Premarital sexual permissiveness of American and Chinese college students: A cross‐cultural comparison

Employing the Reiss scale of premarital permissiveness, the author compared attitudes toward kissing, petting and coitus among American and Chinese college students. The data were composed of self‐administered questionnaires completed in class by 227 students in a state university in Texas, and by 708 students in a national university in Taiwan. As expected, Chinese students were far less permissive than American students. The pattern of less permissiveness for females than for males was preserved across the two cultures. Chinese students tended to follow the traditional code of sexual mores, while their American counterparts tended to follow the code of “permissiveness with affection.” Explanations are proffered and speculations are attempted for the Sino‐American disparities in permissiveness by selected social variables.

文献资料是编写中国小说史的基础支撑。从文献资料的来源来讲,梳理现存历代官方藏书、民间藏书、考古发掘、域外汉籍等途径的文献资料对于重新认识和梳理古代小说史有着重大的意义。

本论文从评点家对《水浒》叙事意图的争论入手,论述了评点家自身的伦理道德指向以及小说暗含的伦理道德之＂善＂向艺术之＂美＂转化的条件和途径,重点分析了金圣叹的＂忠恕＂、＂格物＂观念的新内涵。同时,也试图分析评点中蕴含的感悟式、直觉式、心理性的美学因子。

冯友兰在长期的学术生涯中对魏晋玄学研究做出了重大贡献，是这一研究领域的开创人和重要奠基者。冯友兰的魏晋玄学研究具有开展早、持续长、成果多、影响大等显著的特点，尤其是在郭象玄学、玄学方法论、玄学的派别和发展阶段、魏晋玄学的精神特质等方面的研究具有独到的见解和卓越的贡献。     

新律师法实施给侦查工作带来的挑战

2008年6月1日，新的律师法开始实施了，修改后的律师法的最大亮点之一，是对执业律师在刑事诉讼中的会见权、取证权和阅卷权进行了完善和强化，这无疑增加了侦查工作的难度。侦查机关要在新形势下更有效地履行打击犯罪、保护人民的职责，一是应进一步转变思想观念，二是应从传统侦查模式走向现代侦查模式，三是应进一步加强与检察机关的合作。四是应更加注重全面收集证据，更加注重听取律师意见。
