Waste identification diagrams

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a very popular tool in lean environments to represent production flows, mapping value stream of a product or family of products, and helps to identify some types of waste. Although very popular, this tool has some limitations as already described in many publications, especially in terms of restrictions in showing most types of waste as well as in its inability to represent various production routes. The purpose of this study is to introduce the waste identification diagram (WID), a new tool to represent production units with its different forms of waste, which overcomes some VSM limitations. The originality of WID comes from the use of its symbols’ dimensions to convey, in a visual and immediate way, relevant information about a production unit. In this paper, WID is applied on a production unit of a lift manufacturer, for testing its performance and comparing it to VSM. The main findings are that WID is in general more effective than VSM in terms of representation of complex production units and in terms of identification of more forms of waste. WID must however overcome some of its limitations such as the lack of information-flow representation and the links to suppliers and clients.

贵州省本科院校学前教育专业学生专业认同研究

学前教育专业学生专业认同感对学生当前的学习状态以及后续职业的选择与发展具有重要意义。基于目的性抽样,采用均值比较、方差分析、独立样本T检验,对贵州省783名学前教育专业本科生专业认同现状进行调研。研究发现：贵州学前教育专业本科生专业认同达到中上程度;在专业认同的各个维度上,专业培养得分最高而专业行为得分最低;学前教育专业本科生专业认同在年级、学生填报志愿、自愿性上存在显著差异。建议：提高幼儿园教师的工资待遇,将幼儿教师职业变成让人羡慕的职业,提升第一专业报考率;增强学生选择专业的自主性;多种途径满足学生专业发展所需,为学生成长创造良好环境。     

高教管理存在的问题及其挑战

目前高教管理存在的问题主要是人本缺失。这主要表现在：忽视了以育人为本；忽视了以教师为本；忽视了以学生本。矫治这种人本缺失现象，切实有效地贯彻人本精神，是目前高教管理面临的主要挑战。

An echelon inventory-based single-stage cost function for a two-station tandem system

We propose an alternative cost-accounting function for inventory control problems on a make-to-stock setting. Our proposal is based on observing that the traditional holding and backlog parameters introduce some odd short term distortions on the inventory state space. Our single-stage cost function accounts for echelon inventories and possesses a pair of cost parameters for each echelon inventory variable, depending on whether it is positive or negative. With the modified cost-accounting function, we study a twostation tandem system producing a single product, and investigate how it compares with the performances obtained with the usual single-stage cost function. The results available so far show that the optimal policies approach a multi-echelon base stock structure for each machine. Also, the service levels achieved are better under the modified function without increasing the levels of finished goods inventory.
