Experience in developing a Transitional Employment Program (TEP) for the psychiatric patients in an acute general hospital in Hong Kong

This paper describes the application of a transitional employment program (TEP) for psychiatric patients in Hong Kong. The TEP and its values in psychiatric rehabilitation are introduced. The differences between TEP and Supported Employment (SE) were also highlighted. A TEP for psychiatric patients in an acute general hospital is outlined. Interviews of employer and trainees showed that, apart from increasing income, qualitative changes in the trainees were observed such as increased self-confidence, improved assertive and social skills, and increased work tolerance. Ongoing objective measurement should be conducted to demonstrate its effectiveness. TEP could be considered as a feasible alternative of vocational rehabilitation for patients with mental illness.

Knowledge,attitudes and experiences of Macao's casino workers with regard to second-hand smoke exposure at work

This study investigates the knowledge, attitudes and experiences of casino workers in Macao with regard to exposure to second-hand smoke (SHS) in the workplace through structured face-to-face interviews with 377 workers. The results indicate that the majority of casino workers dislike SHS exposure at work, recognise that such exposure is harmful to their health, support the establishment of separate smoking and non-smoking areas for customers and would like greater restrictions than those that exist at present. The survey also found that there are statistically significant differences in knowledge, attitudes and experiences among workers of different smoking status. The findings of this study support the need for more comprehensive smoke-free legislation in casinos in Macao. The results also add to the existing evidence for smoke-free legislation across casinos worldwide.

在国际A类刊物发表文章的10条建议——以市场营销刊物为例

1 引言 在国外研究型的综合大学,若想在市场营销系成为终身教授,在国际A类刊物发表文章是必需的条件。在市场营销领域被普遍认定为国际A类的期刊包括Journal of Marketing、Journal of Consumer Research、Journal of Marketing Research、Journal of Consumer Psychology、Marketing Science、International Journal of Research in Marketing,这些刊物的总体特点是拒稿率极高,往往会达到76％以上,比如Joumal of Consumer Research(JCR)在对投稿人的公开信息里就指出刊物的拒稿率在90%以上.     

早锻炼对大学生学习疲劳和脑力工作能力影响的研究

目的 了解大学生早锻炼活动的开展与学习疲劳和脑力工作能力的关系,为促进大学生身心健康,推进高职高专早锻炼活动的健康发展,提供必要的理论依据与参考.方法 选取某高职高专学校学生102名,随机分为干预组(早锻炼组)和对照组(未早锻炼组),采用剂量作业试验(校字法)测量全天不同时段的学习疲劳情况及脑力工作能力曲线,并自编问卷调查学习疲劳的可能影响因素.结果 干预4周后,干预组比对照组学生上午的工作速度、错漏率和IMC指数差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05);两组IMC指数均表现为第1节课前和第5节课前最高,上午第4节课后和下午第8节课后最低.结论 该校医学生学习疲劳普遍存在,早锻炼确能改善学生的脑力工作能力,特别是对上午的学习状态和学习疲劳影响较大.     

How to launch the activity of propaganda month of family planning in Sichuan province]

In mid-July to the end of August 1982, the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and the Sichuan Provincial People's Government launched a 1-time family planning propaganda month in all of its cities and villages. The purpose was to promote and to carry out consistently and thoroughly the "Going a Step Further in Family Planning Work Directive" of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the State Council. Through the propaganda efforts, cadres and masses of Sichuan became familiar with the Party's family planning policy and the basis for population theory, thereby benefitting the nation, its people and future generations. In addition, people sensed the urgency, glory, and responsibility of population control. Based on incomplete data, during the month of propaganda, there were 174,182 new applications for 1 Child Certificates, which was 94.82% of the certificates applied for in the 1st half of 1982; 419,696 cases of contraceptive use, or 43.32% of those using them in the 1st 6 months of the year; 247,808 cases of those taking remedial measures, or 35.62% of those doing so in the 1st half of the year. The 1 child rate rose from a June 1982 figure of 68.21% to 68.71%; the multiple child rate dropped from 8.24% to 8%. The projected birthrate for 1982 is 16-17/1000. The success of the propaganda month was attained through: 1) organized responsibility, clearly defined goals and complete preparations that existed at all provincial Party and provincial Governmental levels; 2) the propaganda effort that was a priority of all governmental leaders, who utilized every propaganda tool available; At every level, propaganda sessions of every kind were convened, the entire propaganda machine was mobilized, and propaganda was brought into the home and to individuals; 3) propaganda, experience, and implementation that were all utilized simultaneously; and 4) the organization and administration of propaganda work that was systematized.
