一、芬兰文化——独特性与多元性 说到芬兰．很多人会想到这里是圣诞老人的故乡．是桑拿浴的发源地．是诺基亚的总部．这些都是芬兰文化的独特体现。其实基于斯堪的纳维亚文化传统．并融合了西欧和俄罗斯文化的芬兰文化还具有多元性的特征。     

International Trade Inoperability Input-Output Model (IT-IIM): Theory and Application

The inoperability input-output model (IIM) has been used for analyzing disruptions due to man-made or natural disasters that can adversely affect the operation of economic systems or critical infrastructures. Taking economic perturbation for each sector as inputs, the IIM provides the degree of economic production impacts on all industry sectors as the outputs for the model. The current version of the IIM does not provide a separate analysis for the international trade component of the inoperability. If an important port of entry (e.g., Port of Los Angeles) is disrupted, then international trade inoperability becomes a highly relevant subject for analysis. To complement the current IIM, this article develops the International Trade-IIM (IT-IIM). The IT-IIM investigates the resulting international trade inoperability for all industry sectors resulting from disruptions to a major port of entry. Similar to traditional IIM analysis, the inoperability metrics that the IT-IIM provides can be used to prioritize economic sectors based on the losses they could potentially incur. The IT-IIM is used to analyze two types of direct perturbations: (1) the reduced capacity of ports of entry, including harbors and airports (e.g., a shutdown of any port of entry); and (2) restrictions on commercial goods that foreign countries trade with the base nation (e.g., embargo).     

铁路运营管理机构与城镇形态的演变——以1905～1937年间的华北铁路沿线城镇为例

在铁路与近代中国社会经济发展这一研究领域内,铁路与城市形态演变之间关系的研究,是学者们关注的一个热点。但已有成果大都陷入铁路与城市工商业发展、人口增长及街市扩充这一分析框架的窠臼,鲜有突破。本文试图以1905～1937年间华北铁路沿线城镇为考察对象,通过考察铁路运营管理机构对近代城镇形态演变的影响,为深化相关研究提供一个新的思路。     

城市文化：我国新时期城市发展的亮点

党的十七届四中全会指出：“我国正处在进一步发展的重要战略机遇期，要在新的历史起点上向前迈进。”在这个新的战略机遇期，在城镇化发展战略和政治、经济、社会、文化以及生态文明建设全面推进，我国城市发展已经取得辉煌成就的基础上，新时期城市发展将会加大哪些方面的力度？亮点又是什么呢？我认为，这就是城市文化，即以人为本，进一步展示具有中国特色的城市文化。用文化铸造城市的灵魂，用文化张扬城市的魅力，用文化激发城市的活力，用文化推动城市发展迈上一个新的闪亮的台阶。     

Empirical behavior of some tests for normality

The behavior of a range of tests assessing the normality of a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables is investigated.An examination of the empirical significance level of the tests is undertaken for different sample sizes. The empirical power associated with these tests is also calculated under some alternative distributions.

Improving communication via quantitative management

Villa Soft Drinks Ltd, established in 1884, manufactures and bottles spring waters and carbonates for both the growing adult soft drinks market and the more traditional soft drinks market. The company employs just over 100 people split between the manufacturing site in Sunderland and the head office and distribution centre in Washington. One of the fundamental problems affecting the day-to-day running of Villa, and most companies, is communication. There is a lack of awareness of the impact that changes in one department have on other departments (e.g. if production efficiency is increased by 10%, what impact will this have on warehousing?). Villa had recently identified key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor all aspects of manufacturing performance on a regular basis. This enabled the current production situation to be evaluated and helped familiarize staff with charts and measurements. The use of Pareto analysis and problem solving techniques helped to boost efficiency and utilization. Key performance indicators were then developed in most other departments and are monitored and displayed regularly. The KPIs can be used further to improve transparency across the company by incorporating them in an interactive, interpretative tool to aid communication and understanding at all levels of the company. Individual departmental flow diagrams will be linked together to represent how the company operates. The diagrams will include both material flow and information flow. These data will then be organized in a software package and the end result will be a fully integrated simulation of the company in which any variable can be altered to demonstrate the effect this has on other departments and therefore the company as a whole. This will be an extremely valuable tool for the company as it will have many different applications, such as calculating manning requirements, identifying potential cycle time reductions and optimizing warehouse space.
