AbstractThe need to implement halal value creation into logistics and supply chains has been recognised recently. Yet, there is a lack of efforts to leverage resources and capabilities in contributing to the halal value creation for competitive advantage and subsequently firm performance. The purpose of this paper is to understand the halal value creation of current practices and its role in adding value and enabling logistics service. A structure interview of seven third-party logistics (3PL) providers is conducted to provide more precise perception about works by viewing with the lens prescribed by practitioners rather than reviews. The results draw the novel practices of halal value creation in logistics, that have not been revealed and further identifies five emerging resources of ‘resource-based halal logistics’. These create innovation capability (ability to launch successful halal goods/services) in logistics services, which are transformed into benefits of profits for 3PLs and value for customers. 相似文献

This study assesses the community’s standard of living using the well-known Sustainable Livelihood Approach (SLA) as an analytical framework within the Marine Park Areas (MPAs) in Peninsular Malaysia. We focus on livelihood sustainability and environmental issues challenging MPAs. In order to protect and conserve vulnerable marine life, our efforts assess the residents’ wellbeing and identify major environmental issues associated with MPAs. The major findings of this study indicate that social and physical assets of the societies within the Marine Park Island improved with economic development, but they continue to lack in human capital, and financial and environmental assets. It is expected that this study would assist policy makers to formulate enhanced policies for conserving marine diversity as well as to improve the socio-economic status of the communities that reside therein. 相似文献

AbstractThis paper deals with the problem of estimating the regression of a surrogated scalar response variable given a functional random one. We construct an estimator of the regression operator by using, in addition to the available (true) response data, a surrogate data. We then establish some asymptotic properties of the constructed estimator in terms of the almost-complete and the quadratic mean convergences. Notice that the obtained results generalize a part of the results obtained in the finite dimensional framework. Finally, an illustration on the applicability of our results on both simulated data and a real dataset was realized. We have thus shown the superiority of our estimator on classical estimators when we are lacking complete data. 相似文献

This article describes a methodology for applying a discrete-time survival model—the complementary log-log model—to estimate
effects of socioeconomic variables on (1) the total fertility rate and its components and (2) trends in the total fertility
rate and its components. For the methodology to be applicable, the total fertility rate (TFR) must be calculated from parity
progression ratios (PPRs). The components of the TFR are PPRs, the total marital fertility rate (TMFR), and the TFR itself
as measures of the quantum of fertility, and mean and median ages at first marriage and mean and median closed birth intervals
by birth order as measures of the tempo or timing of fertility. The focus is on effects of predictor variables on these measures
rather than on coefficients, which are often difficult to interpret in the complex models that are considered. The methodology
is applicable to both period and cohort data. It is illustrated by application to data from the 1993, 1998, and 2003 Demographic

Abstract Job design has long been found to affect the work-related psychological responses of employees, such as psychological strain, job satisfaction, and turnover intentions, but scholars have begun to question whether established theoretical relations regarding job design continue to hold given the enormous changes in the nature of work during the past two decades. It is also increasingly recognized that individual differences affect work behaviours in substantial ways, but few studies on work design have investigated these differences. We addressed these concerns with a two-wave longitudinal study among 245 technical workers at a telecommunications company in Malaysia, a country that has a collectivist culture and a high power distance between managers and subordinates. We examined the moderating effects of job control and self-efficacy on the relationships between job demands and employee responses. The results failed to support the job demands-control model, as job control variables did not moderate the impact of demands on employee work-related psychological responses. However, self-efficacy moderated their impact on psychological strain (although not on job satisfaction or turnover intentions). Our findings provide insight into the moderating effect of self-efficacy, and suggest that practitioners interested in reducing psychological strain should consider making efforts to increase self-efficacy among employees. 相似文献

Violence exposure has a significant impact on victims' psychological well-being. This study examined the relationship between two types of violence exposures (threats and physical assaults), coping styles (emotion focused, avoidant, and problem focused), gender, and depression among 211 (147 females and 64 males) young urban adults (ages 18-24). Most participants (60%) endorsed being physically assaulted, whereas many (40%) endorsed being threatened. Hierarchical multiple regressions were conducted. As hypothesized, women reported using more emotion-focused coping and reported greater depression than men. Avoidant coping was a predictor for increased depression for both men and women. However, women who employed problem-focused coping after their first physical assault reported lower rates of depression. These findings have implications for designing early interventions. 相似文献
