Abstract

The University of Tennessee Libraries Career Employee Program (CEP) was inaugurated in 1999 to provide career staff with opportunities for educational and service enrichment and to financially reward support staff who meet the program requirements. This article describes the experiences of the participants, a review board member, and a supervisor, all of whom work in serials areas of the University of Tennessee Libraries. The libraries' human resources officer explains the origin of the CEP and the process of making it an ongoing program.  相似文献

Employees' self-identities, or the ways in which they define themselves relative to others, have implications for the quality of leader and follower relationships at work. Although self-identity has been examined within the context of transformational and charismatic leadership, its relevance for leader–member exchange (LMX) has received little attention. In this study we integrate LMX and self-identity theories. Doing so proved useful because it was found that leader and follower identities predicted LMX quality, as did the fit between leader and follower identities and interactions among fit at different self-identity levels. LMX quality fully mediated relationships of self-identity fit with job performance, regardless of whether LMX was reported by subordinates or their supervisors. Lastly, we also found that self-identity predicted LMX agreement across supervisors and subordinates. Implications of our findings for theory and practice are discussed.  相似文献

When a random effect is present, it is known that the hazard rates are generally underestimated in the context of continuous proportional hazards models. The smooth PL quantile estimator is proposed and the analog of Bahadur-Kiefer type process is constructed based on the PL estimator and the smooth PL quantile estimator when the data are subject to censorship. Using the qualitative participatory action methodology, collective memory work, this study explored how transgender, queer, and questioning (TQQ) youth make meaning of their sexual orientation and gender identity through high school experiences. Researchers identified three major conceptual but overlapping themes from the data generated in the transgender, queer, and questioning youth focus group: a need for resilience, you should be able to be safe, and this is what action looks like! The researchers discuss how as a research product, a documentary can effectively “capture voices” of participants, making research accessible and attractive to parents, practitioners, policy makers, and participants.  相似文献

In particularit focuses on three aspects which are central to social workand care management: current developments in residential andnursing home care; charging for care; and the shifting boundarybetween health and social care. It argues that, in all respects,these policies and the ways in which they are being implementedare incompatible with the notion of social justice. Over thelast fifty years, the older generation has invested heavilyin the welfare state and continues to make a significant contributionto it.
