This paper describes a qualitative study of individual client interviews (n?=?26) from four social service agencies to understand how clients experience trauma-informed care services and implementation challenges. We used the Fallot and Harris framework to explore client experiences of the five core concepts of trauma-informed care (safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment) using semi-structured interview questions with each client. The four agencies consisted of: refugees (n?=?4), substance abuse (n?=?8), older adults (n?=?12), and maternal/child health (n?=?2), and the agencies varied in size, service goals, and clientele. The results of the study suggest that clients’ experience of these concepts was shaped by the actions of other clients, and these experiences were either mitigated or hindered by actions of the agency employees. Agency policies either supported or enhanced their experiences as well. The results also suggest that it was challenging for agencies to provide for all of the trauma-informed care (TIC) concepts at the same time. We discuss the implications of these findings for social service delivery in a range of agency types. Future research should examine the effects of trauma-informed policies on client experiences of each TIC domain.  相似文献

Almost all recent works on teaching and learning ascribe to the social aspects a significant role. However, the question why learning is something social remains unanswered, if it is asked at all. For the most part, only the observation of social activities surrounding learning processes delivers the raw material for the concepts on which sociality is based, whereas the conncections between learning and the relationships between human beings remain unconsidered. The following paper therefore pursues the question, in how far sociality can be seen as a constituting factor for learning processes. On the basis of the socialisation theory of Alfred Lorenzer it will be shown that in the relation of the child to it’s primary object of relationship interaction forms related to this object are practised, although the psychological situation of the infant does not make a separation between subject and object. Lorenzer therefore speaks of individualism and socialisation as a single unit of function. For this reason the others, whether factual or virtual, dwell within every learning process, however individual or autodidactic. This knowledge is currently supported by neurobiological research which therefore is drawn upon for comparison. The meaning of the social environment is above all stressed by the research in the genetic-environment-interaction as well as the discovery of mirror neurons. The aim of this discussion is also to show that the demand for social learning is not a mode of pedagogical welfare, but rather a man-oriented structural feature and therefore takes a key position in the definition of pedagogical professionality.  相似文献

It is almost a decade since the last empirical study of Australian public relations appeared in the academic literature. This paper reports on a survey conducted immediately prior to the onset of the global financial crisis aimed at revealing the state of public relations in Australia. In particular, the study investigated levels of professionalisation in terms of such criteria as the strategic orientation of public relations, its position within organisational hierarchies, and the importance placed on ethics and professional development. The findings show Australian PR professionals to be highly educated, comparatively well paid and frequently in positions of influence with their CEOs. Paradoxically despite these strengths, the profession in Australia does not seem to have outgrown public relations’ pervasive identity crisis.  相似文献

Summary We deal with double sampling plans by variables for a one-sided specification limit when the quality characteristic is normally distributed with unknown standard deviation. An algorithm is presented that allows to calculate the OC of the sampling plans proposed by Bowker and Goode (1952). We give several examples. This paper is a microsociological study of a group of people who have undergone a threat experience. Within the combined theoretical frameworks of symbolic interactionism and phenomenology, the event is seen as a "reality shock" for its participants, involving cognitive crises in group and individual definitions of the situation. The after period is one in which procedures toward making the threat experience meaningful on both group and individual levels are instituted within group networks. These procedures on a group level involve the construction of a "real" event by the objectification of time and experience and through the emergence and attribution of post-hoc norms. Strategies toward the maintenance and continuity of identity include reconstruction of the threat situation, of other participants' behavior, of post-hoc norms, or of individual behavior, and the negotiation of identity on these various bases.  相似文献

There has been a clear and consistent shift in social work practice from offering treatment as usual to implementing empirically supported treatments (ESTs). As social work researchers and practitioners continue to evaluate the effectiveness of ESTs, their impact on clinical outcomes, and the various obstacles to their adoption, a developing literature could offer some guidance on characteristics of EST adopters. This article provides a beginning discussion of the ideal characteristics of EST adopters both at the organizational and individual levels. While this is a developing area of study, there are some important findings that could better serve community-based organizations, their work force, and the communities they serve.  相似文献

Recent years have seen the development of formal and microsimulation models of the structure and dynamics of kin networks. These models generally assume uncorrelated fertility within and across generations. Several sets of real data, however, show positive correlations between the frequencies of various categories of kin. This paper uses formal models to calculate the correlations that will exist between certain categories of kin even if mothers and daughters have independent fertility. Mechanisms by which fertility might be transmitted from mothers to their daughters are considered and the implications for kin correlations are evaluated.  相似文献
