In this paper, methods are proposed in finding the robust design in both Taguchi and Standard setups when a signal factor is present. The robust design is a set of level combinations of control factors so that the effect of controllable noise factors on response is minimum. Both univariate and multivariate methods are used in finding the influential noise factors for the determination of robust designs.  相似文献

In this paper, the asymptotic distribution of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is derived and a new confidence interval for the SNR is introduced. An evaluation of the performance of the new interval compared to Sharma and Krishna (S–K) (1994) confidence interval for the SNR using Monte Carlo simulations is conducted. Data were randomly generated from normal, log-normal, χ2, Gamma, and Weibull distributions. Simulations revealed that the performance of S–K interval is totally dependent on the amount of noise introduced and that it has a constant width for a given sample size. The S–K interval performs poorly in four of the distributions unless the SNR is around one. It is recommended against using the S–K interval for data from log-normal distribution even with SNR = 1. Unlike the S–K interval which does not account for skewness and kurtosis of the distribution, the new confidence interval for the SNR outperforms S–K for all five distributions discussed, especially when SNR?? 2. The proposed ranked set sampling (RSS) instead of simple random sampling (SRS) has improved the performance of both intervals as measured by coverage probability.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a restricted Liu regression estimator (RLRE) for estimating the parameter vector, β, in the presence of multicollinearity, when the dependent variable is binary and it is suspected that β may belong to a linear subspace defined by ?=?r. First, we investigate the mean squared error (MSE) properties of the new estimator and compare them with those of the restricted maximum likelihood estimator (RMLE). Then we suggest some estimators of the shrinkage parameter, and a simulation study is conducted to compare the performance of the different estimators. Finally, we show the benefit of using RLRE instead of RMLE when estimating how changes in price affect consumer demand for a specific product.  相似文献

In this article, we modify a number of new biased estimators of seemingly unrelated regression (SUR) parameters which are developed by Alkhamisi and Shukur (2008 Alkhamisi , M. A. , Shukur , G. ( 2008 ). Developing ridge parameters for SUR model . Commun. Statist. Theor. Meth. 37 ( 4 ): 544564 .[Taylor & Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), AS, when the explanatory variables are affected by multicollinearity. Nine estimators of the ridge parameters have been modified and compared in terms of the trace mean squared error (TMSE) and (PR) criterion. The results from this extended study are the also compared with those founded by AS. A simulation study has been conducted to compare the performance of the modified estimators of the ridge parameters. The results showed that under certain conditions the performance of the multivariate ridge regression estimators based on SUR ridge R MSmax is superior to other estimators in terms of TMSE and PR criterion. In large samples and when the collinearity between the explanatory variables is not high, the unbiased SUR, estimator produces a smaller TMSEs.  相似文献

In this paper, we have reviewed and proposed several interval estimators for estimating the difference of means of two skewed populations. Estimators include the ordinary-t, two versions proposed by Welch [17] and Satterthwaite [15], three versions proposed by Zhou and Dinh [18], Johnson [9], Hall [8], empirical likelihood (EL), bootstrap version of EL, median t proposed by Baklizi and Kibria [2] and bootstrap version of median t. A Monte Carlo simulation study has been conducted to compare the performance of the proposed interval estimators. Some real life health related data have been considered to illustrate the application of the paper. Based on our findings, some possible good interval estimators for estimating the mean difference of two populations have been recommended for the researchers.  相似文献

Generalized least squares estimation of a system of seemingly unrelated regressions is usually a two-stage method: (1) estimation of cross-equation covariance matrix from ordinary least squares residuals for transforming data, and (2) application of least squares on transformed data. In presence of multicollinearity problem, conventionally ridge regression is applied at stage 2. We investigate the usage of ridge residuals at stage 1, and show analytically that the covariance matrix based on the least squares residuals does not always result in more efficient estimator. A simulation study and an application to a system of firms' gross investment support our finding.  相似文献

In this paper, an evaluation of the performance of several confidence interval estimators of the population coefficient of variation (τ) using ranked set sampling compared to simple random sampling is performed. Two performance measures are used to assess the confidence intervals for τ, namely: width and coverage probabilities. Simulated data were generated from normal, log-normal, skew normal, Gamma, and Weibull distributions with specified population parameters so that the same values of τ are obtained for each distribution, with sample sizes n=15, 20, 25, 50, 100. A real data example representing birth weight of 189 newborns is used for illustration and performance comparison.  相似文献

Although multiple indices were introduced in the area of agreement measurements, the only documented index for linear relational agreement, which is for interval scale data, is the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. Despite its meaningfulness, the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient does not convey the practical information such as what proportion of observations is within a certain boundary of the target value. To address this need, based on the inverse regression, we proposed the adjusted mean squared deviation (AMSD), adjusted coverage probability (ACP), and adjusted total deviation index (ATDI) for the measurement of the relational agreement. They can serve as reasonable and practically meaningful measurements for relational agreement. Real life data are considered to illustrate the performance of the methods.  相似文献
