Recently, several authors have been concerned with ordering comparison of known distributions of the family of generalized power series (GPS) distributions with their mixtures in various senses. In this article, we shall employ a unified approach and obtain similar results, more generally, for all members of the class of the GPS distributions. Some of the previous findings of Misra et al. (2003), Alamatsaz and Abbasi (2008), and Aghababaei Jazi and Alamatsaz (2010) in this connection, then, follow as corollaries. Further, we have derived some more ordering comparison results. 相似文献

Individual-level models (ILMs) for infectious disease can be used to model disease spread between individuals while taking into account important covariates. One important covariate in determining the risk of infection transfer can be spatial location. At the same time, measurement error is a concern in many areas of statistical analysis, and infectious disease modelling is no exception. In this paper, we are concerned with the issue of measurement error in the recorded location of individuals when using a simple spatial ILM to model the spread of disease within a population. An ILM that incorporates spatial location random effects is introduced within a hierarchical Bayesian framework. This model is tested upon both simulated data and data from the UK 2001 foot-and-mouth disease epidemic. The ability of the model to successfully identify both the spatial infection kernel and the basic reproduction number (R 0) of the disease is tested. 相似文献

The long‐term settlement of Afghan immigrants in Iran, along with their high fertility, has produced an important shift in the composition of their population with the emergence of a “second generation”. This article aims to examine how second‐generation Afghans have adapted to the host society and to what extent their adaptation patterns have correlated with demographic and contextual factors. The data is drawn from the 2010 Afghans Adaptation Survey which covered 520 second‐generation Afghans. Results revealed that second‐generation Afghans have a variety of adaptation patterns. Integration is the most prevalent pattern of adaptation and acculturation (which is observed among 35.8 per cent of respondents) followed by separation (33.3%), assimilation (17.1%) and marginalization (13.8%). Our multivariate analysis showed that such socio‐demographic factors as gender, education, ethnicity, perceived discrimination, family context, neighbourhood characteristics, length and city of residence are associated with their adaptation patterns.
Policy Implications
- Successful implementation of policies and durable solutions for Afghans in Iran rests on the diversity of the adaptation patterns of their second‐generation.
- Restriction on employment opportunities has led to downward assimilation and marginalization of some of the Afghans in Iran. Improvement in labour laws would promote the integration of Afghans in the society.
- Afghan females have relatively better access to a gender‐equitable environment in Iran than they do in Afghanistan, and are less willing to return to their homeland. The Government of Afghanistan should improve service and security provisions for women to ensure their voluntary repatriation.

In 2006, around 1.2 million documented Afghans remained in Iran, of whom half were second generation. This paper is based on the results of a qualitative study conducted in three settings: Tehran, Mashhad and Isfahan, and draws on data collected via 80 in‐depth interviews and six focus group discussions with second generation Afghans in Iran. The aim of the paper is to explore the adaptation of second‐generation Afghans in Iran, particularly in relation to marriage and family formation. The results show that educational achievements and occupational skills of the second‐generation Afghans in Iran facilitated their adaptation to the host society, and inspired different marriage and family behaviors and aspirations in comparison with the first generation. 相似文献

A subset M of vertices of a graph is called a static monopoly, if any vertex v outside M has at least \(\lceil \tfrac{1 }{2}\deg (v)\rceil \) neighbors in M. The minimum static monopoly problem has been extensively studied in graph theoretical context. We study this problem from an integer programming point of view for the first time and give a linear formulation for it. We study the facial structure of the corresponding polytope, classify facet defining inequalities of the integer programming formulation and introduce some families of valid inequalities. We show that in the presence of a vertex cut or an edge cut in the graph, the problem can be solved more efficiently by adding some strong valid inequalities. An algorithm is given that solves the minimum monopoly problem in trees and cactus graphs in linear time. We test our methods by performing several experiments on randomly generated graphs. A software package is introduced that solves the minimum monopoly problem using open source integer linear programming solvers. 相似文献

Transportation of evidence-based programs (EBPs) to a new cultural setting is often preferred over the comprehensive process of developing a new program. Intervention fidelity has been suggested as a predictor of successful transportation. The present study examined whether fidelity and parent behavior improved when implementing the U.S.-developed Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-up (ABC) intervention in Norwegian child welfare services (CWS). 11 child welfare workers received training and supervision to become ABC parent coaches. Fidelity was assessed through video-recordings of parent coaches' in vivo feedback at each home-visit session. Parent sensitive behavior was assessed using video-recordings of parent–child interactions, recorded before each ABC session. Mixed effects modeling showed that ABC fidelity increased over the course of training and supervision. Furthermore, parent behavior improved over the course of families' exposure to the intervention. These demonstrate that an EBP transported to a novel cultural setting can obtain promising levels of fidelity and intervention outcomes. 相似文献
