In this article, we study a new class of non negative distributions generated by the symmetric distributions around zero. For the special case of the distribution generated using the normal distribution, properties like moments generating function, stochastic representation, reliability connections, and inference aspects using methods of moments and maximum likelihood are studied. In this article, we consider local influence analysis for the skew-normal linear mixed model (SN-LMM). As the observed data log-likelihood associated with the SN-LMM is intractable, Cook's well-known approach cannot be applied to obtain measures of local influence. Instead, we develop local influence measures following the approach of Zhu and Lee (2001 Zhu , H. , Lee , S. ( 2001 ). Local influence for incomplete-data models . J. Roy. Statist. Soc. Ser. B 63 : 111126 .[Crossref] [Google Scholar]). This approach is based on the use of an EM-type algorithm and is measurement invariant under reparametrizations. Four specific perturbation schemes are discussed. Results obtained for a simulated data set and a real data set are reported, illustrating the usefulness of the proposed methodology.  相似文献

This paper presents two approaches for comparing several exponential accelerated life models under the usual stress levels. The approaches are based on on the likelihood ratio statistics and on the posterior Bayes factor ( Aitkin, 1991). These procedures can be useful in many practical situations. An exact distribution and a table of critical values of the likelihood ratio statistics are presented. A simulation study is also performed.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a new distribution, namely, the slashed half-normal distribution and it can be seen as an extension of the half-normal distribution. It is shown that the resulting distribution has more kurtosis than the ordinary half-normal distribution. Moments and some properties are derived for the new distribution. Moment estimators and maximum likelihood estimators can computed using numerical procedures. Results of two real data application are reported where model fitting is implemented by using maximum likelihood estimation. The applications illustrate the better performance of the new distribution.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a modified slash distribution obtained by modifying the usual slash distribution. This new distribution is based on the quotient of two independent random variables, whose distributions are the normal and the power of an exponential distribution of scale parameter equals to two, respectively. In this way, the result is a new distribution whose kurtosis values are greater when compared with that of the slash distribution. We study the density, some properties, moments, kurtosis and make inferences by the method of moments and maximum likelihood. We introduce a multivariate version of this new distribution. Moreover, we provide two illustrations with real data showing that the new distribution fits better the data than the ordinary slash distribution.  相似文献

As is the case of many studies, the data collected are limited and an exact value is recorded only if it falls within an interval range. Hence, the responses can be either left, interval or right censored. Linear (and nonlinear) regression models are routinely used to analyze these types of data and are based on normality assumptions for the errors terms. However, those analyzes might not provide robust inference when the normality assumptions are questionable. In this article, we develop a Bayesian framework for censored linear regression models by replacing the Gaussian assumptions for the random errors with scale mixtures of normal (SMN) distributions. The SMN is an attractive class of symmetric heavy-tailed densities that includes the normal, Student-t, Pearson type VII, slash and the contaminated normal distributions, as special cases. Using a Bayesian paradigm, an efficient Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm is introduced to carry out posterior inference. A new hierarchical prior distribution is suggested for the degrees of freedom parameter in the Student-t distribution. The likelihood function is utilized to compute not only some Bayesian model selection measures but also to develop Bayesian case-deletion influence diagnostics based on the q-divergence measure. The proposed Bayesian methods are implemented in the R package BayesCR. The newly developed procedures are illustrated with applications using real and simulated data.  相似文献

The main object of this paper is to discuss properties of the score statistics for testing the null hypothesis of no association in Weibull model with measurement errors. Three different score statistics are considered. The efficient score statistics, a naive score statistics obtained by replacing the unobserved true covariate with the observed one and a score statistics based on the corrected score statistics. It is shown that corrected and naive score statistics are equivalent and the asymptotic relative efficiency between naive and efficient score statistics is derived.  相似文献

In monomorphic species, determination of sex from behavior is prone to errors. The authors develop capture‐recapture survival models that account for uncertainty in the assessment of sex. They examine parameter redundancy for four basic models with constant or time‐dependent survival and encounter probabilities. They further develop a more refined and more appropriate model for an Audouin's gull data set where four distinct behavioral clues have been used. They examine how useful it is to incorporate the least reliable of the clues and the genetic determination of sex available for only a handful of individuals. They finally discuss the implications of their findings for the design of field studies.  相似文献

The purpose of the present note is to derive optimal population total predictors relative to the Linex (Zellner, 1986) loss function under some well known superpopulation models.
