When testing hypotheses in two-sample problem, the Lepage test statistic is often used to jointly test the location and scale parameters, and this test statistic has been discussed by many authors over the years. Since two-sample nonparametric testing plays an important role in biometry, the Cucconi test statistic is generalized to the location, scale, and location–scale parameters in two-sample problem. The limiting distribution of the suggested test statistic is derived under the hypotheses. Deriving the exact critical value of the test statistic is difficult when the sample sizes are increased. A gamma approximation is used to evaluate the upper tail probability for the proposed test statistic given finite sample sizes. The asymptotic efficiencies of the proposed test statistic are determined for various distributions. The consistency of the original Cucconi test statistic is shown on the specific cases. Finally, the original Cucconi statistic is discussed in the theory of ties. 相似文献

A single-stage lot/cell production under a Poisson arrival and exponential service in a batch is considered. The three economic queuing models of push and pull types are presented, an economic comparison of push versus pull types is considered, and a strategic management/design consideration to the lot production is given. First, the total expected operating cost is given for the three queuing models including the Omote-Kanban type similar to VMI. Second, the push versus pull system is discussed from a view of setup time, inventory or operating cost, and it is ascertained that the three types are alternative. ‘Kindling Backfires’ introduces the reader to a cohort of 70 white abolitionists who could be counted as members of the upwardly mobile, evangelical middle class in the USA of the 1830s. Instead of beginning in 1816 with the rise of the American Colonization Society and other voluntary reform associations, this study focuses on the roughly two-year period of greatest coordinated effort by 70 abolitionist agents to craft a national antislavery movement, 1836–1838. This brief period coincided with the largest expansion in numbers of local societies and enrollment of new members achieved by the American Anti-Slavery Society (AA-SS). The limited role of women as agents – and their essential role as the most active of recruits – also receives study. Finally, the myriad forms of opposition to the agency, from rowdy mobs to sexual scandal to national economic recession are plumbed as their cumulative effect compelled the AA-SS to discontinue most of their agents' commissions in late 1837. 相似文献

In the early 2000s, asylum seekers went primarily to destinations their countries had historical relationships, including former colonial ties, common languages and ethnic networks. Since the mid-2000s, there has been a shift towards asylum seekers arriving in destinations without such relationships. In this study, we apply spatial interaction models to understand the factors contributing to recent asylum migration from developing countries to developed countries from 2001 to 2015. We find that the push factors of political terror, civil rights violation and poverty do not result in increased asylum migration to developed countries. Instead, they act to reduce the number of asylum seekers. We also find that interactions between a range of push factors are important for understanding the movements and that immigration policies can have considerable effects on the destination choices of asylum seekers. 相似文献

A new multivariate inverse Polya distribution of order k, type I, is derived by means of a generalized urn scheme and by compounding the multivariate negative binomial distribution of order k, type I, of Philippou, Antzoulakos and Tripsiannis (1988) with the Dirichlet distribution. It is noted that this new distribution includes as special cases a new multivariate inverse hypergeometric distribution of order k and a new multivariate negative inverse one of the same order. The mean and variance-covariance of the multivariate inverse Polya distribution of order k, type I, are derived, and two known distributions of the same order are shown to be limiting cases of it. 相似文献

The approximation for the distribution function of test statistic is extremely important in statistics. The standard and higher-order saddlepoint approximations are considered in tails of the limiting distribution for the modified Anderson–Darling test. The saddlepoint approximations are compared with the approximation of Sinclair et al. (1990) for upper tail area. A multivariate two-sample testing problem is one of the most important topics in nonparametric statistics. One of the multivariate two-sample testing problems based on the Jure?ková–Kalina ranks of distance is discussed in this article. Further, a multivariate Wilcoxon-type test is proposed for testing the equality of two continuous distribution functions. Simulations are used to investigate the power of this test for the two-sided alternative with various population distributions. The results show that the proposed test statistic is more suitable than various existing statistics for testing a shift in the locationt and location-scale parameters. 相似文献

One modification of the Wilcoxon rank-sum test was proposed by Tamura [On a modification of certain rank tests. Ann Math Stat. 1963;34:1101–1103]. Deriving the exact critical value of the statistic is difficult when the sample sizes are increased. The normal approximation, the Edgeworth expansion, the saddlepoint approximation, and the permutation test were used to evaluate the upper tail probability for the modified Wilcoxon rank-sum test given finite sample sizes. The accuracy of various approximations to the probability of the modified Wilcoxon statistic was investigated. Simulations were used to investigate the power of the modified Wilcoxon rank-sum test for the one-sided alternative with various population distributions for small sample sizes.
