Organizational learning capability is a key element in organizational performance. This issue spurs interest to discover how to generate environments with high organizational learning capability. In this paper, we analyze the relationship between the degree of organicity of the structure, organizational performance and organizational learning capability. A total of 251 firms with demonstrated excellence in human resource management took part in the study. Results suggest that the degree of organicity of the structure has a positive relationship with performance perceptions and this relationship is fully mediated by organizational learning capability. 相似文献

Perceptions of Structural Injustice and Efficacy: Participation in Low/Moderate/High‐Cost Forms of Collective Action

Prior studies on perceptions of structural disadvantage and injustice, efficacy, and collective action have suffered from two major limitations: (1) they have used single‐country samples, usually of economically advanced countries, and (2) generally theorized and investigated perceptions of structural injustice and efficacy separately. Drawing on value‐expectancy theory, we provide an integrated theory to predict direct and conditional effects of efficacy and perceptions of structural disadvantage and injustice on collective action within countries. To address the limitations of previous research, we use cross‐national data of 29 countries, including economically advanced and less advanced nations, to test how well these hypotheses explain within‐country variation in collective action. We find that internal efficacy is significantly and positively associated with low‐ and moderate‐cost collective action, whereas organizational embeddedness, a proxy for political efficacy, is significantly and positively associated with low‐, moderate‐, and high‐cost collective action. Perceptions of legitimate and unjust structural disadvantage are also positively associated with all types of collective action. Importantly, the positive effects of both types of efficacy on high‐cost collective action are conditional on perceptions of structural injustice. That is, participation in high‐cost collective action is more likely for those who are both efficacious and perceive structural disadvantage as unjust. 相似文献

F. Tönnies's 'Gemeinschaft'/'Gesellschaft' dichotomy is discussed as an analytical and explanatory framework for identifying individual social work education modules' relevance to immigrant- and migration-related problems in social work practice. It is claimed that 'Gemeinschaft' (community) skills are especially needed in these practice contexts, as opposed to the more scientific, legal or administrative 'Gesellschaft' (state, society) skills. Two empirical studies from Germany dealing with the necessary competencies for social workers advising immigrants are drawn upon. In certain judgmental situations where a “correct” decision is presumed to exist, optimal decision making requires evaluation
of the decision-makers’ capabilities and the selection of the appropriate aggregation rule. The major and so far unresolved
difficulty is the former necessity. This article presents the optimal aggregation rule that simultaneously satisfies these
two interdependent necessary requirements. In our setting, some record of the voters’ past decisions is available, but the
correct decisions are not known. We observe that any arbitrary evaluation of the decision-makers’ capabilities as probabilities
yields some optimal aggregation rule that, in turn, yields a maximum-likelihood estimation of decisional skills. Thus, a skill-evaluation equilibrium can be defined as an evaluation of decisional skills that yields itself as a maximum-likelihood estimation of decisional
skills. We show that such equilibrium exists and offer a procedure for finding one. The obtained equilibrium is locally optimal
and is shown empirically to generally be globally optimal in terms of the correctness of the resulting collective decisions.
Interestingly, under minimally competent (almost symmetric) skill distributions that allow unskilled decision makers, the
optimal rule considerably outperforms the common simple majority rule (SMR). Furthermore, a sufficient record of past decisions
ensures that the collective probability of making a correct decision converges to 1, as opposed to accuracy of about 0.7 under
SMR. Our proposed optimal voting procedure relaxes the fundamental (and sometimes unrealistic) assumptions in Condorcet’s
celebrated theorem and its extensions, such as sufficiently high decision-making quality, skill homogeneity or existence of

The concept of a calling in relation to career choice is a topic of interest in current literature. Exploring variables that may contribute to the presence of a calling is an important gap in the literature. This study examined career thoughts and vocational identity in relation to the presence of calling in a sample of 329 undergraduate university students enrolled in a career development course. The findings revealed significant relationships among all the variables of interest, as well as moderate predictive power, indicating that vocational identity and career thoughts may contribute to the formation of a calling to pursue a particular career. We enhance understanding of the prejudice-induced "color coding" phenomenon among whites by determining whether racial and ethnic prejudices are associated with a previously unexplored policy outcome, spending on drug rehabilitation. We examine attitudes toward both blacks and Latinos; the latter is a group largely ignored in previous research. We assess the impact of several types of racial/ethnic views, including those that manifest modern/indirect prejudice (e.g., stereotypes about violence, individualistic causal attributions) and those that reflect social-distance-based traditional prejudice (opposition to residential proximity and to interracial marriage). These relationships are examined using data from the General Social Survey. Bivariate results support the linkage between both traditional and modern prejudice and rehabilitation spending. Logistic regression analyses also indicate that support for rehabilitation is racialized: Attributing race differences in socioeconomic outcomes to "structural" factors, namely discrimination and lack of chance for education, is associated with believing rehabilitation spending is inadequate, controlling for the effects of other racial/ethnic attitudes and background factors. The relationship between this measure of modern prejudice and the outcome is consistent with color coding. The implications of the findings are discussed, and suggestions for future research that further examine the scope of color coding are offered. 相似文献

This article reports the findings of a survey administering the personal well-being index (PWI) in six Chinese cities (N = 3,390) to ascertain the personal well-being of China’s urban population. The specific aims of the study were: (a) ascertain
whether Chinese urban residents are satisfied with their lives; (b) validate the PWI using an urban sample that is representative
of the urban population and larger in size than that which has been utilized in existing studies for Mainland China; (c) compare
the results to existing studies for Hong Kong, Macau, rural China and single city studies which have administered the PWI
in Guangdong and Shandong; (d) examine whether the responses to the PWI from participants falls within the narrow range predicted
by the ‘Theory of Subjective Wellbeing Homeostasis’ and provide further evidence on whether this framework is applicable to
Chinese samples; and (e) examine which participant characteristics predict personal well-being, examine whether own income
and/or relative income predicts personal well-being and compare these results with previous studies for China and other countries.
The data indicated a moderate level of personal well-being (PWI score = 67.1). The PWI demonstrated good psychometric properties
in terms of its reliability and validity, consistent with previous published studies. The PWI was within the normative range
for non-western countries and was within the narrow band predicted by the ‘Theory of Subjective Wellbeing Homeostasis’. Similar
variables were found to predict personal well-being to those found in previous studies for China and elsewhere. 相似文献
