This paper demonstrates the use of maxima nomination sampling (MNS) technique in design and evaluation of single AQL, LTPD, and EQL acceptance sampling plans for attributes. We exploit the effect of sample size and acceptance number on the performance of our proposed MNS plans using operating characteristic (OC) curve. Among other results, we show that MNS acceptance sampling plans with smaller sample size and bigger acceptance number perform better than commonly used acceptance sampling plans for attributes based on simple random sampling (SRS) technique. Indeed, MNS acceptance sampling plans result in OC curves which, compared to their SRS counterparts, are much closer to the ideal OC curve. A computer program is designed which can be used to specify the optimum MNS acceptance sampling plan and to show, visually, how the shape of the OC curve changes when parameters of the acceptance sampling plan vary. Theoretical results and numerical evaluations are given.  相似文献

This paper deals with an empirical Bayes approach for spatial prediction of a Gaussian random field. In fact, we estimate the hyperparameters of the prior distribution by using the maximum likelihood method. In order to maximize the marginal distribution of the data, the EM algorithm is used. Since this algorithm requires the evaluation of analytically intractable and high dimensionally integrals, a Monte Carlo method based on discretizing parameter space, is proposed to estimate the relevant integrals. Then, the approach is illustrated by its application to a spatial data set. Finally, we compare the predictive performance of this approach with the reference prior method.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the effect of a cold standby component on the mean residual life (MRL) of a system. When the system fails, a cold standby component is immediately put in operation. We particularly focus on the coherent systems in which, after putting the standby component into operation, the failure of the system is due to the next component failure. For these systems, we define MRL functions and obtain their explicit expressions. Also some stochastic ordering results are provided. Such systems include k-out-of-n systems. Hence, our results extend some results in literature.  相似文献

Abstract

In the recent critique of ‘Western metaphysics’ by post‐structuralist and postmodern theorists, there has emerged a distinctive line of thought which seeks to apply such critique to the domain of political theory. This paper approaches Hannah Arendt's conceptualisation of the political as a proto‐type of such a theorisation, deploying as it does key elements of the Heideggerian (and more broadly, phenomenological) position so as to rethink the nature of the political. By delineating the specifically ‘post‐metaphysical’ moments of Arendt's theory and its corresponding critique of political modernity, I endeavour to illuminate both the advantages and pitfalls of contemporary efforts at developing a philosophical conception of the political on the basis of a neo‐Heideggerian position.  相似文献

[0,1){theta, omega in[0,1)}, and q(·) is a positive weight function. we develop Bayesian estimators under Lr, w, d0{L_{rho, omega, delta_0}} with ω > 0 by relating such estimators to Bayesian solutions under Lr, w, d0{L_{rho, omega, delta_0}} with ω = 0. Illustrations are given for various choices of ρ, such as absolute value, entropy, linex, and squared error type losses. Finally, under various robust Bayesian analysis criteria including posterior regret gamma-minimaxity, conditional gamma-minimaxity, and most stable, we establish explicit connections between optimal actions derived under balanced and unbalanced losses.  相似文献

Previous studies focus on homogeneous and isotropic assumptions about the noisy data. Many methods have been developed recently for fitting concentric circles to data. In this paper, these statistical assumptions have been relaxed. To the best of our knowledge, only one iterative method has been recently developed. Due to its complexity, no such algorithm is available to compute the reliable maximum likelihood estimator (MLE). Accordingly, we have developed four new methods that outperform the existing methods including the orthogonal distance regression (ODR). We also discuss which of these methods is superior according to the four principles: statistical efficiency, accuracy, robustness, and computational efficiency. Numerical experiments on synthetic and real images have been conducted to validate our findings.  相似文献

Statistical inferences about the dispersion of multivariate population are determined by generalized variance. In this article, we consider constructing a confidence interval and testing the hypotheses about the ratio of two independent generalized variances, and the ratio of two dependent generalized variances in two multivariate normal populations. In the case of independence, we first propose a computational approach and then obtain an approximate approach. In the case of dependence, we give an approach using the concepts of generalized confidence interval and generalized p value. In each case, simulation studies are performed for comparing the methods and we find satisfactory results. Practical examples are given for each approach.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a novel approach for testing the equality of two log-normal populations using a computational approach test (CAT) that does not require explicit knowledge of the sampling distribution of the test statistic. Simulation studies demonstrate that the proposed approach can perform hypothesis testing with satisfying actual size even at small sample sizes. Overall, it is superior to other existing methods. Also, a CAT is proposed for testing about reliability of two log-normal populations when the means are the same. Simulations show that the actual size of this new approach is close to nominal level and better than the score test. At the end, the proposed methods are illustrated using two examples.  相似文献

A correct detection of areas with excess of pollution relies first on accurate predictions of pollutant concentrations, a task that is usually complicated by skewed histograms and the presence of censored data. The unified skew-Gaussian (SUG) random field proposed by Zareifard and Jafari Khaledi [19] offers a more flexible class of sampling spatial models to account for skewness. In this paper, we adopt a Bayesian framework to perform prediction for the SUG model in the presence of censored data. Owing to the presence of many latent variables with strongly dependent components in the model, we encounter convergence issues when using Monte Carlo Markov Chain algorithms. To overcome this obstacle, we use a computationally efficient inverse Bayes formulas sampling procedure to obtain approximately independent samples from the posterior distribution of latent variables. Then they are applied to update parameters in a Gibbs sampler scheme. This hybrid algorithm provides effective samples, resulting in some computational advantages and precise predictions. The proposed approach is illustrated with a simulation study and applied to a spatial data set which contains right censored data.  相似文献
