Social workers increasingly practice in medical settings; however, there are few applications of clinical practice theories at their disposal. Using fictional composite cases based on the writers’ experiences in medical social work, the authors illustrate how clinical practice theories can be used in the assessment and treatment of Veterans. These cases illustrate real world applications of clinical practice theories for what is often seen as task-oriented work. The authors place case management or casework in medical settings within the confines of clinical social work and suggest clinical practice theories have important applications to these efforts.  相似文献

Sibling warmth has been identified as a protective factor from life events, but stressor-support match-mismatch and social domains perspectives suggest that sibling warmth may not efficiently protect youths from all types of life events. We tested whether sibling warmth moderated the association between each of family-wide, youths' personal, and siblings' personal life events and both depressive symptoms and risk-taking behaviors. Participants were 187 youths aged 9-18 (M = 11.80 years old, SD = 2.05). Multiple regression models revealed that sibling warmth was a protective factor from depressive symptoms for family-wide events, but not for youths' personal and siblings' personal life events. Findings highlight the importance of contextualizing protective functions of sibling warmth by taking into account the domains of stressors and adjustment.  相似文献

How do followers react to their leaders' emotional expressions, and how do these reactions influence followers' perceptions of their leaders' effectiveness? This research examines cognitive and emotional reactions to leaders' expressions of positive and negative emotions, and demonstrates how these reactions affect perceptions of leadership effectiveness. We show that follower interdependence (dispositional or manipulated) plays an important moderating role in understanding reactions to leaders' emotions. Results of three studies demonstrate that followers not only share their leaders' emotions, but also make attributions about the sincerity of their leaders' intentions, and these attributions affect their perceptions of their leader's effectiveness. Results also demonstrate that interdependent followers are sensitive to leader emotional valence and react more positively to leader positivity; non-interdependent followers do not differentiate positive from negative emotions in their leader. We discuss the implications of our research for the literature on leadership.  相似文献

Using performativity as a theoretical angle, this paper explores how shared value, a strategic management concept, shaped a gambling company's strategy despite the inherent inconsistency between gambling, a socially harmful activity, and shared value, which is intended to create economic value by creating social value. The study introduces the notion of “forced performativity”, the process wherein a concept performs in a highly infelicitous context. It identifies three moments that were determinant in the forced performativity of shared value: the Porter author-isation, referring to the mobilisation of the author's persona to establish the legitimacy of the concept; the causality distortion, when causalities drawing explicit links between social and financial performance are created; and the incitement of friction, wherein the purposeful maintaining of tensions ensured the stabilisation of the socio-technical assemblage. These three moments are connected within a process model of forced performativity. The paper contributes to the ongoing debate about how recent sociological ramifications of performativity relate to its linguistic origin by arguing for the complementarity of these two approaches. The intent is also to open a discussion about a performativity-based understanding of corporate social responsibility.  相似文献
