全球化在“统合与分裂”中进行,“支配与共生”成为当今的时代课题。在近代西方帝国主义侵略亚洲过程中,日本同时扮演帝国主义和原住民两种角色。当代日本在建构东亚共同体中,要以世界市民的观点,追求“普遍性”文明中的共生,参与全球文明的建构。     

Nonlinear surface regression with dimension reduction method

This paper considers nonlinear regression analysis with a scalar response and multiple predictors. An unknown regression function is approximated by radial basis function models. The coefficients are estimated in the context of M-estimation. It is known that ordinary M-estimation leads to overfitting in nonlinear regression. The purpose of this paper is to construct a smooth estimator. The proposed method in this paper is conducted by a two-step procedure. First, the sufficient dimension reduction methods are applied to the response and radial basis functions for transforming the large number of radial bases to a small number of linear combinations of the radial bases without loss of information. In the second step, a multiple linear regression model between a response and the transformed radial bases is assumed and the ordinary M-estimation is applied. Thus, the final estimator is also obtained as a linear combination of radial bases. The validity and an asymptotic study of the proposed method are explored. A simulation and data example are addressed to confirm the behavior of the proposed method.     

The roles of prior catchability assumptions and sample features on bayes estimates of the number of classes in a population

The object of this paper is to explain the role played by the catchability and sampling in the Bayesian estimation of k, the unknown number of classes in a multinomial population. It is shown that the posterior distribution of k increases as the capture probabilities of the classes become more unequal, and that the posterior distribution of k increases with the number of classes observed in the sample and decreases with the sample size. Moreover, it is shown that the posterior mean of k is consistent.     

What's in View for Toddlers? Using a Head Camera to Study Visual Experience

This article reports 2 experiments using a new method to study 18‐to 24‐month‐olds' visual experiences as they interact with objects. Experiment 1 presents evidence on the coupling of head and eye movements and thus the validity of the head camera view of the infant's visual field in the geometry of the task context. Experiment 2 demonstrates the use of this method in the naturalistic context of toy play with a parent. The results point to the embodied nature of toddlers' attentional strategies and to importance of hands and hand actions in their visual experience of objects. The head camera thus appears to be a promising method that, despite some limitations, will yield new insights about the ecology and content of young children's experiences.
