This study reports a meta-analysis of 75 estimates of the efficiency-wage effect. It reveals a strong efficiency-wage effect
that depends upon whether researchers control for potential simultaneity between wages and productivity. Studies that control

Employer-provided insurance is the leading source of medical insurance for non-elderly Americans. However, it leaves many
without coverage. Evidence suggests that the non-group insurance market does a poor job of filling in these gaps, for those
with both short- and long-term uninsurance. It does so for all income and age groups, as well as for both genders. It does
fill some of the gaps in employer-provided coverage for those with middle and high incomes, though very incompletely. 相似文献

Although it has been hypothesized in the literature that both human capital and social capital are important for the economic performance of new immigrants, few studies have examined these relationships empirically, especially in understudied populations such as Chinese populations. This study simultaneously examines the roles of human capital and social capital in the economic integration of new arrivals from Mainland China to Hong Kong, using a random sample of immigrants. In the early stage of immigration (less than 6 months after arrival), we find little support for the presumed positive effects of both human capital and social capital on employment status among new arrivals in Hong Kong. Follow-up studies are underway to investigate the dynamic relationship between social capital and economic integration in this group of new arrivals, and whether social capital, especially friendship networks, plays a more important role in the economic integration of new immigrants 1 or 2 years after arrival. 相似文献

Children living in foster care are an especially vulnerable population who often come to the attention of Medicaid mental
health providers. These children experience a high incidence of emotional and behavioral disorders and may have specialized
treatment needs related to their living arrangement status. This study assessed whether Children’s Psychosocial Rehabilitation
could effectively treat youth with severe emotional and behavioral disorders who live in foster care. Analysis of data from
an open trial of 218 clinically-impaired youth, aged 3–18 years, revealed no reliable differences in treatment outcome between
foster versus non-foster children, with a trend toward more favorable outcomes for foster youth. Findings justify further
study of the effectiveness of this Medicaid-funded service for the treatment of youth in care. 相似文献

Social workers are becoming increasingly aware of the unique experiences faced by children of incarcerated parents. Little
is known, however, about their experiences prior to their parents being incarcerated. Using data from a broader study of incarcerated
women, we examined women’s accounts of their children’s exposure to violence prior to maternal incarceration. Open-ended interviews
addressed family and relationship history, physical and psychological victimization, lifetime delinquency and crime, and interactions
with service and justice systems. Interviews were analyzed using ATLAS/ti software and a grounded-theory approach. The emergent
themes revealed a myriad of consequences experienced by the children, including child witnessing of violence, emotional sequelae,
bodily harm from abuse and neglect, sexual abuse, and birth defects from prenatal violence. Implications for research and

Anxiety disorders are among the most common psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents. Most empirically supported
treatments (ESTs) for pediatric anxiety disorders include various cognitive-behavioral methods. Although demonstrated efficacious
in controlled and clinic settings, there are barriers to implementing these types of therapies in social work settings due
to beliefs about the usefulness of ESTs in community settings; limitations of treatment manuals; time constraints of implementing
ESTs; fidelity and flexibility of implementing ESTs; and limited training opportunities. This article provides an overview
of ESTs for childhood anxiety disorders, highlighting options for overcoming common barriers to implementing ESTs. Collaborative

This study examines changes over time in ethnic affirmation/belonging and ethnic identity achievement, Spanish language use, English language use, Mexican/Mexican‐American affiliation/identification and Anglo affiliation/identification in a sample of Mexican‐American adolescents participating in a longitudinal study of juvenile offenders. The Multigroup Ethnic Identity Measure and the Acculturation Rating Scale for Mexican Americans‐II were completed by the Mexican‐American adolescents 7 times over a 3‐year period. The findings from longitudinal growth modeling analyses and growth mixture modeling analyses indicate that there is heterogeneity in the initial scores and changes over time on these variables that are related to markers for the cultural qualities of the home environment (i.e., generational status and mother's most frequent language use). In contrast to expectations, marginalized or assimilated acculturation trajectories/types were not overrepresented in this sample of adolescent offenders. Implications for our understanding of the nature of acculturation and enculturation processes and the way these processes are studied are discussed. 相似文献
