Abstract

This study is part of a larger study airned at the development of a system for quantifying the inconvenience of shift schedules and schedule characteristics. The results can be used to reduce inconvenience (counter-value compensation) and to compute the monetary (counter-weight) compensability of shift schedules. The results presented here show that consensus exists among subjects from different organizations and with different background characteristics on the utility of several features, e.g. working at inconvenient hours, the irregularity of a schedule, and working during the evening (which has a positive value). The opinions slightly differ with respect to some other characteristics, such as very long shifts, work during the weekend and the average sequence length. The differences are possibly due to job characteristics.  相似文献

This paper outlines some of the relationships between Kamula understandings of embodied personhood and place. It seeks to supplement existing accounts of place in the Bosavi region of Papua New Guinea (PNG). Such understandings have largely been based on song, poetry and myth (Feld ; Schieffelin ). By way of contrast, this paper describes comparatively mundane Kamula experiences of place. The Kamula talk I consider emphasizes socially mediated forms of unification of person and place associated with notions of shared ‘appearance’, ‘equivalence’ and ‘enhancement’. Such terms are further explained by reference to Kamula understandings of the effects of losing a relationship with place. I conclude by showing how such understandings of loss are being deployed in Kamula demands for compensation from the state and logging companies. Through a discussion of these themes the paper contributes to the growing literature on the relationship between personhood, place and development in Papua New Guinea.  相似文献

征地补偿标准不合理是引发我国失地农民问题的重要原因之一。合理的征地补偿标准应该实践人本主义和公平理念。我国现行征地补偿标准的不合理性主要表现为忽视了对农民作为人的补偿,没有充分考虑农用土地对于农民的多重效用。合理的征地补偿标准应该包括对被征地农民生存需求、安全需求、生活环境需求与发展需求的补偿。实施合理征地补偿标准需要的条件保障为确立公平补偿原则,建立促进利益补偿的相关保障机制以及设立征地补偿基金并落实持续补偿资金来源。  相似文献

流域水权交易、流域政府间生态补偿、排污收费与排污权交易、污水处理设施民营化等策略选择或是采取了产权自由化的设计,或是表现出对竞争机制的倚重,又或是将两者相结合,最终它们均可以增进流域政府间协调,减少流域水资源消费负外部性现象.也正是在这一意义上,可以将它们全部归为一种流域水环境治理的市场型协调机制.此种协调机制对于增进流域合作治理,更深刻的意涵则在于,由市场发挥对水资源乃至其他各类资源配置的基础性作用,才能真正减少和规范流域政府行政权力的活动范围,进而抵制其纵容辖区流域水资源消费负外部性的地方保护行为,最终促进流域政府间横向协调和对负外部性的联合治理.  相似文献

This study examines the transfer pricing and incentive compensation problems in a multinational enterprise facing currency risk. It is shown that, in the presence of diverse risk preferences among managers, the Hirshleifer (1956) transfer pricing rule results in inefficient resource allocation decisions by division managers. Following the approach developed by Kanodia (1979), two transfer pricing and compensation systems are proposed. The proposed systems enable central management to achieve efficient resource allocation and partial or global risk sharing. It is also argued that the proposed plans can be implemented in conjunction with existing transfer pricing systems that primarily serve tax and tariff concerns.  相似文献

Chief information officers (CIOs) play increasingly strategic roles in firms in this competitive global economy, which is now largely powered by information technology (IT). However, research has shown a lack of board of directors’ oversight on CIO‐ and IT‐related issues. Drawing on agency, resource dependence, and alignment theories, we investigate the effect of board of directors’ IT awareness on CIO compensation structure and firm performance. We conduct cross‐sectional time series analyses of data collected from various sources. Our study underlines three important findings. First, we show that some commonly known executive compensation determinants, such as individual characteristics and governance structure, do not have significant effects on CIO compensation structure. Second, with regard to CIO compensation structure, firms respond to increasing information asymmetry differently according to the level of IT awareness of their boards. Finally, firms perform better when their boards have higher levels of IT awareness, and this positive effect of IT awareness is considerably larger in IT intensive industries. Overall, our study provides empirical support for the important role of boards’ IT awareness in shaping CIO compensation and improving firm performance. Our results suggest that boards with functional area knowledge—or higher IT awareness in this case—can more effectively monitor and better incentivize executives, and consequently lead to better firm performance.  相似文献
