长期以来,语言测试工作者研究的核心是如何提高测试的信度与效度,以客观、精确地测量考生的语言能力。语言测试尤其是大规模高风险语言测试带来的社会影响,很难由改良测试本身来解决。批判语言测试 (Critical Language Testing) 的提出把语言测试置于更广阔的社会政治语境中,对测试后效 (consequences) 的反思不再局限于反拨效应 (washback),而是重新审视测试中渗透的权力与控制,测试所具有的社会价值、政治功能等。 相似文献

The relation between theory and empirical data in sociology and social policy is explored through a critique of Ulrich Beck's influential book, Risk Society . Consideration is given to the extent to which a book that purports to describe contemporary societies in general is actually rooted in the unique circumstances of postwar Germany. The various arguments of Risk Society are reviewed and tested against relevant empirical reports from England. Many of the historical and contemporary generalizations made by Beck are shown to be questionable. The conclusion reflects on the popularity of the genre in which Beck is working and questions the consistent glumness of its attitude to contemporary societies—whether those of the 1890s or the 1990s. The new millennium might be a time for a new spirit and the rejection of the nostalgia and conservatism of humanities-oriented scholarship. 相似文献

strategies, antiracist education claims to be the most progressive way today to understand race relations. Constructed from
whiteness studies and the critique of colorblindness, its foundational core is located in approximately 160 papers published
in peer-reviewed journals in the past 15 years-identified through a comprehensive search of Academic Premier Search, EBSCOMegaFile, Education Abstracts, JSTOR, and SOCIndex. A critical assessment of these papers concludes that antiracist education is not a sociologically grounded, empirically
based account of the significance of race in American society. Rather, it is a morally based educational reform movement that
embodies the confessional and redemptive modes common in evangelical Protestantism. Inherently problematic, whether or not
antiracist education achieves broader acceptance is open to debate.

This study surveyed 747 firefighters on their perceptions of work stress. The current emphasis in the fire brigades is on the management of traumatic or critical incident stress, but other work stressors may also be important. The firefighters rated their jobs as more stressful than other occupations, and psychological work stress as highest among a set of potential sources and types of stress. Although many factors were mentioned, the most frequently indicated stressors were associated with exposure to traumatic incidents such as major accidents or the suffering of others. Those who had previous experience with stress were more likely to rate current and future risk of stress as higher. Knowledge of existing organizational approaches to stress management was limited. The firefighters rated individual and informal sessions for dealing with stress as potentially more useful than the formal debriefing sessions now common in many emergency organizatins. Those who had previous experience with stress, however, were more likely to favour a formal organizational approach. 相似文献
