We consider the role of values as determinants of voting in the UK's 2016 EU referendum. First, we consider and clarify ‘values’ conceptually, before proceeding to utilise Schwartz's basic human values as the most appropriate. Second, we theorise how these basic human values determine both voting in the referendum as well as three of the most consistently demonstrated determinants of voting in that referendum: attitudes to immigration, identifying as European and trust in politicians. Finally, we demonstrate that this psychological theoretical framework effectively predicts voting behaviour in the referendum using multigroup structural equation modelling. Overall, we show that voting dynamics in the referendum are likely to reflect deeper, more personal psychological predispositions than those captured by existing explanations. In doing so, we make an original contribution to the literature on political psychology related to Brexit, Euroscepticism, political attitudes and electoral behaviour.  相似文献

The question of the social dimension of European integration has so far remained unsettled. While on the European level, the civil and political dimension of citizenship has been strengthened, the evolution of economic and social rights are unclear, contradictory—and still under-investigated. Our contribution applies citizenship as a central category of modernization theory to inquire into European integration. In particular, our focus is set on the analysis of Economic Citizenship as a specific category of civil rights in the case of Germany. We discuss these dynamics by drawing on the example of three policy fields which illustrate various levels of Economic Citizenship. In this article we are pursuing two goals: Firstly, we revise Marshall's modernization theory against the background of European integration. Secondly, we draw attention to the concept of Industrial Citizenship, which has so far been neglected as a source of further development. We argue that in the process of European integration, industrial rights develop through a double movement, meaning an individual extension of market-based rights complemented through national de-collectivization and—connected to this—a re-stratification of market correcting rights.  相似文献

Mainstream brand management literature views brands as products or organisations carrying brand names and brand managers as being in control of brand-related actions and outcomes. By contrast, recent empirical research shows the substantial influence of stakeholders on brands. Together with brand management, stakeholders shape brands by participating in brand-related interaction. European brand research accordingly treats brands as ongoing and complex processes in constant flux. Nevertheless, literature suffers from a significant lack of theoretical underpinnings for understanding brands as complex processes; in this respect, building on European philosophy is a fruitful avenue. This paper introduces the metaphor of the rhizome and draws on European process philosophy to further develop an integrative processual understanding of brands. Brand management claiming control over brands as processes turns out to be a delusion.  相似文献

随着世界经济的发展,区域一体化的发展愈发迅猛,其中尤以欧盟为典型。在欧盟一体化的进程中,出现了国家主权大面积的、深层次的让渡。在成员国交出或转让国家主权或职能的过程中,在欧盟国家内部同时形成了对这些权利行使的监督控制机制,从而维护了成员国国家主权的平等。欧盟国家间国家主权的这种让渡和演变,对传统的国家主权理论显然产生了深远影响。  相似文献

This case study illustrates the reality of trying to achieve the European Commission objective of fruitful international research co-operation with Third Countries. The process of responding to an EC research call, preparing a proposal and negotiating a contract are explored with areas of general applicability being highlighted. The case study is drawn from the Avicenne Initiative in the area of health systems research. The difficulties and inequality of access to information, administrative research support and resourcing are explored as both issues for individuals and institutions and also as part of the difficulties of developing south-north or east-west research partnerships. The backstage of research is explored in order to highlight issues of discourse, practice and procedure which, if tackled, could provide a more level playing field for researchers from a wide range of institutions and countries.  相似文献

随着全球地缘重心向印太地区转移,欧盟对印太地区的关注持续提升。欧盟为加速推动"印太战略",不仅提升了与印太地区国家在政治和经济领域的合作,强化其在印太地区的军事存在,而且积极配合"四国联盟"在印太地区展开针对中国的行动。欧盟加速推动"印太战略"的主要目的是在提高自身政治和经济利益的同时,借助美国势力进入印太地区,避免在大国博弈中陷入"选边站"的战略困境。欧盟加速推动"印太战略"有利于提升欧盟在印太地区的影响力,也有助于完善欧盟产业链的布局和对印太市场的开发。欧盟的举动无疑将会使印太地区的地缘竞争更加激烈,并且可能对中国的"一带一路"建设和周边安全产生负面影响。欧盟加速推进"印太战略"给地区带来一系列影响,但也面临着内部诉求不一,实现"印太战略"能力有限,对华政策错误以及与美国"印太战略"存在分歧等诸多挑战。  相似文献

海河工程局为中外合作疏浚海河航道而设,存在于1897年到1949年之间。相关研究基本理清了海河工程局的主营业务、运行制度,大体勾勒出了海河工程局与地方、国家、国际社会的广泛联系。文章在此基础上,利用多种中外文档案和报纸考察租借破冰船、潮白河决口、墙子河水闸三个事件,分析民国时期海河工程局与国际社会、中国国家、地方社会的关系,以期对海河工程局的运行实态有更加立体全面的认识,认为海河工程局在实践中表现出灵活多变的身份和角色,不断调整应对各方的策略,在国际政治、水利事业、地方社会中发挥独特的影响力;与此同时,海河工程局帝国主义的底色挥之不去。1916年,海河工程局出租的破冰船在海参崴除冰引发德奥两国指控中国违反局外中立,这一事件集中体现了各方对海河工程局的暧昧的机构性质的利用,最终事件在海河工程局代表团议事的框架内解决,体现了海河工程局平衡中外利益、解决中外争端的作用。民国元年(1912年)潮白河决口将海河工程局卷入全国水利规划与天津港口经济发展的矛盾漩涡。海河工程局在中国的其他水利机构的交锋中代表天津地方的商业利益。它依仗外交途径,一方面强势干预民国政府的水利统筹规划,一方面又促成了顺直水利委员会的建立,为上下游水利机构合作创造了平台。墙子河水闸引发的天津内部租界和华界的利益冲突,跨越晚清民国,展现了海河工程局与地方社会的关系及其对自身定位的转变。海河工程局最初与租界站在一起,积极谋求海河以外的管理权限,尔后逐渐退出水闸管理,力图塑造一个更加中立、专业的形象。然而在各国领事、租界当局,乃至中国老百姓的眼中,海河工程局仍然是洋人利益的当然代表。总的来说,海河工程局的身份有不同的面向,面对各方势力,它不断地调整自己的定位,以便在纷繁的时局中尽可能地实现机构自身的目的。海河工程局虽然在制度层面是一个独立的公益法人,但它的存在与运行都依附于近代条约体系,无法真正独立。  相似文献

自大众传媒产生之日起,关于法律案件的新闻报道便受到了种种竞争性法律价值的限制.拥有引导舆论功能的新闻媒体在诉讼程序的审前、庭审以及审后阶段的报道,对司法程序及相关利益产生了不同程度的影响.就某种意义而言,新闻媒体与诉讼程序俨然成为矛盾的对立双方.尽管这一矛盾无法避免,但通过界定和判断新闻自由与竞争性利益之间的关系,我们可以进行新的关系调整以减小矛盾影响,欧洲人权法院在削弱两者矛盾方面作出了许多探索和贡献.文章试图借鉴欧洲经验,分析审前阶段媒体介入司法程序的效果与规制,以确立媒体与司法程序之间的合理关系.  相似文献

The protagonists of this article are Lucien Matrat and the group of academics he led, known as the “European doctrine (or school) of public relations” (Boiry, 2004, p. 1). These public relations academics and professionals, who were mainly French, represented a body of knowledge which was characterised by an ethical and anthropological approach to public relations. It is this approach that led to Matrat's drafting of the Code of Athens and the creation of a theory of public relations based on human beings. The European doctrine also advocated the application of ethnographic methods to create corporate culture, such as the projet d’entreprise (corporate project). This paper analyzes, from a historical and theoretical viewpoint, this anthropological approach to public relations.  相似文献
