Shaping the right to education for Roma children: a case study of present practices in Ghent,Belgium

Western European cities are increasingly confronted with Roma immigrants. Societal changes associated with this phenomenon create new challenges for schools. Using a case study, this article sheds light on present practices that shape the right to education for Roma children. Three principal success factors are distinguished: boundary-blurring practices, a lifeworld-oriented approach and commitment. Finally, the relation between promising practices and a rights-based approach to educational justice is discussed.     

Intercultural education through a bilingual children’s rights project: reflections on its possibilities and challenges with young learners

Despite the growing importance of intercultural education, literature is still lacking in related research with young learners. This study reports on a yearlong university–school collaborative research project that aimed to promote students’ intercultural competence and critical bi-literacy skills through their exploration of the issue of children’s rights. Grounded in the critical perspectives of intercultural pedagogy and dynamic bi-/multilingualism, the two collaborating Grade 3 teachers engaged their students in critical inquiry of children’s rights in both English and French. Through a range of hybrid translanguage literacy practices and experiential learning activities, students came to understand what children’s rights are and appreciate the importance of solidarity, equity, and compassion. Apart from highlighting some activities developed during this project and the impact of the activities on student participants, the study also attempts to critically reflect on some of the challenges in conducting intercultural education with young learners, in particular their emergent but conflicted understanding of other cultures. Further, the study speaks to the issue of how such an important education can be practiced in a non-reductionist and non-simplistic manner yet still be accessible to young learners.     

对“中国民俗文化学”须要再认识——有关学科建设的思考

本文认为 ,当代的中国民俗文化学有许多特点和不可取代的学科优势 ,但在本学科领域内有许多人都处于知之不清、似知非知或只知其昔而不知其今的状态 ,其他社会各界更是如此 ,再加上追求“大、洋、玄、奇”的社会心态 ,使这一学科受到有意无意的排斥。因而提出要从学界自身开始从实求知 ,对中国民俗文化学再认识。     

环太湖区域协同创新模式研究--以嘉兴市为例

环太湖地区江浙两省五市几年来创新发展积累的成果,为下一步全面开展区域化的协同创新奠定了坚实的基础。但仍存在创新服务体系不全、创新活力不足、协同路径单一以及区域核心形象不突出等问题。为打破协同创新存在的区域樊篱和鸿沟,环太湖地区应顺应区域经济一体化发展趋势,重点从激活创新资源、完善创新机制、营造创新环境等方面重构创新模式。借鉴美国、欧盟、中关村等国内外先进地区的成功经验,“‘政产学研金介用’架构性创新＋区域联动共建创新平台核心形象＋接轨上海开展跨区域合作”的路径将是环太湖区域协同创新最优且可行的模式。     

The significance of the racial contract in teachers’ college expectancies for students of color

ABSTRACT

Drawing on the theories of the racial contract and whiteness as property, this one-year qualitative case study explored the ways in which 27 classroom teachers harnessed school structure and classroom curriculum to support the college readiness of students of color in two California school districts. The study discovered that these teacher participants displayed different degrees of race consciousness, prompting contradictory expectancy practices. Negative expectations often reinforced ideologies and material conditions associated with the racial contract and, in effect, perpetuated whiteness as the racial construct of college-going abilities. Conversely, those teachers who operated with a higher degree of race consciousness reported more equitable teaching practices that emphasized self-respect, solidarity, and education as a collective contract for the common good. The study draws conclusions that impact educational policies, particularly those that identify college readiness as the benchmark of equity and high-school success.     

Collaborative Product Development: The Effect of Project Complexity on the Use of Information Technology Tools and New Product Development Practices

Collaboration is an essential element of new product development (NPD). This research examines the associations between four types of information technology (IT) tools and NPD collaboration. The relationships between NPD practices and NPD collaboration are also examined. Drawing on organizational information processing theory, we propose that the relationships between IT tools and NPD collaboration will be moderated differently by three project complexity dimensions, namely, product size, project novelty, and task interdependence, due to the differing nature of information processing necessitated by each project complexity dimension. Likewise, the moderation effects of the project complexity dimensions on the relationship between NPD practices and NPD collaboration will also be different. We test our hypotheses using data from a sample of NPD projects in three manufacturing industries. We find that IT tools are associated with collaboration to a greater extent when product size is relatively large. In contrast, IT tools exhibit a smaller association with collaboration when project novelty or task interdependence is relatively high. NPD practices are found to be more significantly associated with NPD collaboration under the contingency of high project novelty or high task interdependence. The findings provide insights about circumstances where several popular IT tools are more likely to facilitate collaboration, thus informing an NPD team's IT adoption and use decisions.     

中国农村养老意愿和养老方式的研究

本文以抽样调查数据为基础 ,对中国中西部农村地区的养老观念、意愿以及养老方式进行了分析研究。研究发现 ,亲子关系的反馈模式的养老观念、养老方式依旧在中西部农村有着很大的市场 ;政府需要在农村各类养老保障制度的建设中发挥主导作用。     

抗战时期一个彝区土司的边务实践与民情叙述——《倮情述论》中的彝人社会与边疆图景

抗日战争时期,岭光电作为一个兼有彝区土司和军政职务的彝族精英,其《倮情论述》一书所陈述的彝区的边务实践与民情风俗,展现了在国族政治抱负下,彝区精英如何对彝人历史、社会、文化之图景进行重新的组织与呈现。在民族国家的语境下,他的论述获得了时代意义:即让西南边地的人民与现代中国的国家化进程接轨,从而在使国家更为完整的同时,也让边民获得其民族地位与国民权益。岭光电所具备的时代穿透性和空间跨越性,也使得他的边务实践和民情叙述充满了一种宝贵的韧性和灵活性,而这些正是当代社会科学研究所缺乏的。     

海洋渔业权益研究的回顾与展望

海洋渔业权益维护研究涉及海洋学、政治学、法学、管理学等多个学科领域,具有显著的跨学科和交叉融合的研究特点。系统梳理和评述国内外海洋渔业权益维护研究文献,认为现有国内研究虽然在海洋渔业权益的理论内涵、国际争端表现、维护实践等方面取得了一定的进展,但研究的系统性不足,在多个研究层面还存在许多盲点。未来中国海洋渔业权益维护问题需要进一步拓展研究空间,在理论层面要明晰海洋渔业权益及其维护的理论机理,并在此基础上统筹时间和空间两个视角深入研究现有的争端解决机制,提炼出对中国海洋渔业权益维护有借鉴意义的国际经验,进而探索解决中国海洋渔业权益维护的机制、实现路径以及法律制度保障等科学问题,为解决现实中的海洋渔业权益国际争端提供理论指导。
