Missing Grandchildren: Grandparents’ Lost Contact and Implications for Social Work

The critical importance of maintaining family contact and intergenerational relationships for ongoing wellbeing is known to social work. Equally known is the damage caused by severed relationships. Recent literature has suggested an increased incidence of grandparents raising their grandchildren, often after family breakdown. Less evident in the literature is grandparents’ experience of reduced, lost, or denied contact with their grandchildren. In the qualitative, exploratory study reported here, the lived experiences of 21 Queensland grandparents were documented through in-depth interviews. The overall findings suggest that disrupted, lost, or denied contact with grandchildren was very distressing and impacted on grandparents’ health; that seeking to safeguard and support grandchildren could result in damaged family relationships and denied contact; and that a cycle of lost and regained contact can occur in some circumstances. These findings indicate that an increased role for social workers may be warranted, in listening to and including grandparents when working with families, and recognising grandparents’ need for support.

严歌苓在其作品《扶桑》中再现了第一代华人移民在异域的生存和精神困境,基于对拉康三界论的释读,剖析小说中三位主要人物的主体建构历程,发现他们皆遭受想象界中“小他者”的映像之欺和象征界中“大他者”的异化规训。小说人物在象征界屡受重创后,陷入主体建构的僵局;透过知觉的缝隙,认知到符号秩序的荒谬,企图回归实在界实现自由。这无疑在警醒主体需要保持反思的意识,审视虚妄的他者映像和既存的符号教化,从实在界中积攒力量,超越不合理的秩序。     

失地农民子女教育现状调查及对策——以浙江省金华市秋滨街道为例

土地征用是城市化进程中不可避免的经济行为,伴随而来的是严峻的失地农民子女教育问题.教育是经济发展的根本动力,保障失地农民子女教育是解决"三农"问题与推动城市化进程的一项重要内容.本文选择金华市征地情况较为典型的秋滨街道为案例,通过分析土地征用对失地农民子女教育产生的影响,探索了若干保障失地农民子女教育的措施与对策.

“迷惘的一代”是一战后出现在美国的一个文学流派。流派中的成员经历过战争的创伤,渴望寻求理想生活,他 们对美国的社会现实感到焦虑,选择了逃回欧洲去,在此过程中经受历练,获得对艺术和生命的真知。卡伦.霍尼在精神分析 方面的研究恰好科学地说明了这一过程。海明威的作品《太阳照常升起》在诠释“迷惘的一代”这段经历时具有代表性。     

From Being Unbanked to Becoming Unbanked or Unbankable: Community Experts Describe Financial Practices of Latinos in East Los Angeles

ABSTACT

Appropriate use of formal financial institutions facilitates saving and asset building. Yet 20% of the US Latino population is unbanked. In this cross-sectional qualitative study, 34 community experts were interviewed regarding financial practices in the predominantly low-income Latino and immigrant community of East Los Angeles. Thematic analysis of these in-depth, semistructured interviews suggests that immigration status fuels fears regarding banking and ultimately the persistence of unbanked status; limited financial education prompts community members to move from being unbanked to being unbankable. Techniques employed to reverse this cycle appear helpful, but ultimately overwhelmed by the magnitude of community mistrust and misinformation.

基于收益共享契约的网络零售联合促销策略研究

网络零售业造节促销已成常态,优化网络零售平台(简称平台商)和销售商联合促销策略是一项值得深入研究的课题。本文基于收益共享契约,利用不同的博弈模型刻画入驻销售商和平台商之间三种不同的促销模式,包括由其中一方率先发起促销的模式和二者同时发起促销的模式,研究不同模式下销售商和平台商的最优促销策略。研究结论表明,在三种促销模式下,二者的最优促销策略均随着商品佣金费率的增长依次呈现三种不同的形式:从仅由销售商提供促销到联合促销再到仅由平台商提供促销。当且仅当佣金费率和商品的日常售价高于一定阈值时,销售商和平台商才会有动机开展联合促销。研究还发现,销售商和平台商在各自率先发起的联合促销模式下具备先动优势。销售商(平台商)率先发起的联合促销将更有利于对佣金费率较低(高)的商品实施。当销售商和平台商同时独立发起促销时,供应链整体促销力度最大,供应链的整体利润也最高。     

论《失乐园》中亚当的正当理性与选择

在《失乐园》中，亚当的正当理性与选择涉及弥尔顿的古典资源与神学思想之间的复杂关系。通过区分自然法与实在法，可以说明正当理性与选择之间并无抵牾。上帝赋予亚当自然法，使其可以遵从正当理性。但是有关知识树果子的命令属于实在法，与正当理性不自动相合，因此亚当才有了真正意义上的选择。《失乐园》中自由选择(free choice)与真正的自由(true liberty)之间实有差异：前者对应亚当自由选择的能力，后者则是他遵从正当理性的结果。亚当在吃知识树的果子时，行使了自由选择，但他选择的是夏娃，而非遵守上帝的命令。这一事件的后果之一便是正当理性被蒙蔽，亚当从此失去了真正的自由。     

A production model for deteriorating items with stochastic preventive maintenance time and rework process with FIFO rule

Due to unreliable production facility and stochastic preventive maintenance, deriving an optimal production inventory decision in practice is very complicated. In this paper, we develop a production model for deteriorating items with stochastic preventive maintenance time and rework using the first in first out (FIFO) rule. From our literature search, no study has been done on the above problem. The problem is solved using a simple search procedure; this makes it more practical for use by industries. Two case examples using uniform and exponential distribution preventive maintenance time are applied. Examples and sensitivity analysis are conducted for each case. The results show that rework and preventive maintenance time have significant affected the total cost and the optimal production time. This provides helpful managerial insights to help management in making smart decisions.
