Robust portfolio planning in the presence of market anomalies

In this study, a short-term portfolio modeling formulation is developed using existing anomalies as a single determinant for daily Istanbul Stock Exchange National 100 Composite Index (ISE) and US dollars (USD) returns in a Robust optimization (RO) framework. Using anomalies in planning within an RO framework establishes a balance between risk seeking and risk averse behaviors, as generating profit from anomalies is risky and RO enables to settle down the extreme risk seeking behavior. Applications of the model using various data sets result in real profit generation such that terminal wealth figures increase considerably more than Wholesale Price Index (WPI). This study demonstrates that RO is a viable approach to make use of anomaly information for short-term profits.

关于分割股票市场间信息传递的过程研究

应用结构向量自回归(SVAR)模型对国内外分割市场间的信息传递过程进行了研究,尤其是分析B股的开放和QFII制度的实施对国内市场信息传递过程的影响.研究发现:H股和S&P500指数对A、B股具有显著的收益率溢出效应,反映了国内外市场的融合趋势;QFII制度实施后,A、B股收益率之间的信息传递过程反映了A、B股系统风险的降低;相应地,国内A、B股投机性也在减弱,说明在国外投资者的示范效应下,国内投资者交易理念渐趋成熟,从而进一步反映了国内资本市场的成熟.     

Innovations to Make Markets More Inclusive for the Poor

Market failures, government failures and some of the characteristics of both the poor and business actors as well as their environment can act as barriers preventing the poor from participating more actively in markets, both as consumers and as producers. Private actors ‐ including for‐profit and not‐for‐profit entities, often in partnership with the public sector ‐ have been able to mitigate some of these constraints through innovations that have helped to make markets more inclusive for the poor, enabling them not just to gain access, but also to participate in ways that enhance their economic empowerment and human development. This article identifies the strategies and innovations used and devises a possible typology for them.     

Some indications for professional development in social work: a study of theoretical interest and attitudes towards research among Icelandic social workers

This study among Icelandic social workers generally showed positive attitudes towards research activity in the field. Most respondents, whereof half were practice teachers, saw the practicum as an important tool for the integration of theoretical application and research activity to practice. Almost all saw research activity as a feasible way to empower social work as a profession. Simultaneously, a relatively small percentage report their own research activity. Besides this discrepancy some interesting differences were found according to number of years after graduation, field employment and experience as practice teachers. It is argued that the theme in focus is a critical indication of professional development and highly relevant for the educational discourse as for future professional development.
