In this paper we propose a computationally efficient algorithm to estimate the parameters of a 2-D sinusoidal model in the presence of stationary noise. The estimators obtained by the proposed algorithm are consistent and asymptotically equivalent to the least squares estimators. Monte Carlo simulations are performed for different sample sizes and it is observed that the performances of the proposed method are quite satisfactory and they are equivalent to the least squares estimators. The main advantage of the proposed method is that the estimators can be obtained using only finite number of iterations. In fact it is shown that starting from the average of periodogram estimators, the proposed algorithm converges in three steps only. One synthesized texture data and one original texture data have been analyzed using the proposed algorithm for illustrative purpose.  相似文献

We propose inference procedures for partially identified population features for which the population identification region can be written as a transformation of the Aumann expectation of a properly defined set valued random variable (SVRV). An SVRV is a mapping that associates a set (rather than a real number) with each element of the sample space. Examples of population features in this class include interval‐identified scalar parameters, best linear predictors with interval outcome data, and parameters of semiparametric binary models with interval regressor data. We extend the analogy principle to SVRVs and show that the sample analog estimator of the population identification region is given by a transformation of a Minkowski average of SVRVs. Using the results of the mathematics literature on SVRVs, we show that this estimator converges in probability to the population identification region with respect to the Hausdorff distance. We then show that the Hausdorff distance and the directed Hausdorff distance between the population identification region and the estimator, when properly normalized by , converge in distribution to functions of a Gaussian process whose covariance kernel depends on parameters of the population identification region. We provide consistent bootstrap procedures to approximate these limiting distributions. Using similar arguments as those applied for vector valued random variables, we develop a methodology to test assumptions about the true identification region and its subsets. We show that these results can be used to construct a confidence collection and a directed confidence collection. Those are (respectively) collection of sets that, when specified as a null hypothesis for the true value (a subset of values) of the population identification region, cannot be rejected by our tests.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a new approach to sieve estimation for a general regression function when the dimension of the finite dimensional subspaces is a random quantity depending on the values of the observations.

The technique is introduced with the help of a simulation study on a functional linear model under extremely mild assumptions.

Thinning of point processes is a useful operation that is implemented in various stochastic models. When the initial point process is the nonhomogeneous Poisson process (NHPP), the thinned processes are also nonhomogeneous Poisson processes independent of each other. The crucial assumption in deriving this result is that the corresponding classification of events is independent of all other events, including the history of the process. However, in practice, this classification is often dependent on the history. In our paper, we define and describe the thinned processes for the history-dependent case using different levels of available information. We also discuss the applications of the obtained general results to the corresponding shocks models.  相似文献

Autoregressive models with infinite variance are of great importance in modeling heavy-tailed time series and have been well studied. In this paper, we propose a penalized method to conduct model selection for autoregressive models with innovations having Pareto-like distributions with index α∈(0,2)α(0,2). By combining the least absolute deviation loss function and the adaptive lasso penalty, the proposed method is able to consistently identify the true model and at the same time produce efficient estimators with a convergence rate of n−1/αn1/α. In addition, our approach provides a unified way to conduct variable selection for autoregressive models with finite or infinite variance. A simulation study and a real data analysis are conducted to illustrate the effectiveness of our method.  相似文献

We derive the optimal regression function (i.e., the best approximation in the L2 sense) when the vector of covariates has a random dimension. Furthermore, we consider applications of these results to problems in statistical regression and classification with missing covariates. It will be seen, perhaps surprisingly, that the correct regression function for the case with missing covariates can sometimes perform better than the usual regression function corresponding to the case with no missing covariates. This is because even if some of the covariates are missing, an indicator random variable δδ, which is always observable, and is equal to 1 if there are no missing values (and 0 otherwise), may have far more information and predictive power about the response variable Y than the missing covariates do. We also propose kernel-based procedures for estimating the correct regression function nonparametrically. As an alternative estimation procedure, we also consider the least-squares method.  相似文献

In previous work we established a closed-form optimal stocking strategy for an EPQ model with partial backordering at a constant rate β. Here we extend this work to allow for the possibility that the percentage of demand backordered will increase when production starts again. We show how our previous model can be adapted to find the optimal decision variable values for this new assumption and develop the condition that the initial value of β must meet for partial backordering to be optimal.  相似文献

While there are several measures of living environment restrictiveness, none has used the youth perspective in conceptualizing and operationalizing restrictiveness. The purpose of this qualitative study was to obtain the perspectives of child welfare involved youth who have lived in out-of-home care. Using focus group methodology, 40 youth were asked to define restriction and give examples of how it is operationalized in practice. Youth defined restriction as “rules”. The rules were about what youth can do, where they can go, who they can be with and how and with whom they can communicate. These rules were primarily characterized as inconsistent, arbitrary, non-individualized and developmentally inappropriate, although some characterized them as beneficial in the long term. Rules were mostly attributed to adult need for power and avoidance of legal responsibility for the youths. Typical feelings about the rules were anger, resentment, feeling labeled, isolated and stigmatized. Relationships influenced perceptions: within a positive relationship, youth understood and tolerated the rules that limited independence. The perception of what were normal restrictions for other youth not in out-of-home care was another influencing factor. These findings are examined in light of cognitive and affective development in adolescence. Recommendations for improving the measurement of living environment restrictiveness as well as enhancing child welfare services are proposed.  相似文献

In many transactions concerning selling and buying, a specified delay of payment is offered or accepted by the seller. This can be regarded as a kind of discount and has potential consequences for the order size. These kinds of effects are not explicitly incorporated in the classical formulas for economic order quantities (EOQ). In this research we consider an EOQ problem under partial delayed payment. A fraction of the purchasing cost must be paid at the beginning of the period and the remaining amount can be paid later. Shortages are permitted and occur as a combination of backorders and lost sales. The aim of this paper is to determine the order and shortage quantities.  相似文献

Estimating parameters in heavy-tailed distribution plays a central role in extreme value theory. It is well known that classical estimators based on the first order asymptotics such as the Hill, rank-based and QQ estimators are seriously biased under finer second order regular variation framework. To reduce the bias, many authors proposed the so-called second order reduced bias estimators for both first and second order tail parameters. In this work, estimation of parameters in heavy-tailed distributions are studied under the second order regular variation framework when the second order parameter in the distribution tail is known. This is motivated in large part by a recent work by the authors showing that the second order tail parameter is known for a large class of popular random difference equations (for example, ARCH models). The focus is on least squares estimators that generalize rank-based and QQ estimators. Though other possible estimators are also briefly discussed, the least squares estimators are most simple to use and perform best for finite samples in Monte Carlo simulations.  相似文献
