He Said,She Said: Comparing Mother and Father Reports of Father Involvement

This study compares mother and father reports of fathers’ involvement, including frequency of involvement and emotional involvement, with their child and examines demographic and social factors that predict the discrepancy in father and mother reports. Using matched pairs of parents (n = 2,058) from the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing data, this study finds that father and mother reports of fathers’ involvement differ significantly. For example, fathers report spending 17.6% more time engaged in 11 activities with their young children than mothers report. How parental disagreement is measured yields starkly different results given the underlying distribution of these data. The paper also provides insight into what data issues should concern researchers studying fathers’ involvement and contributes to the growing literature on fathers’ involvement.     

The Linkages Between FDI and Domestic Investment: Unravelling the Developmental Impact of Foreign Investment in Sub‐Saharan Africa

While the recent increase in foreign direct investment (FDI) to African countries is a welcome development, the impact of these resource inflows on economic development remains in doubt. This article argues that a key channel is its effects on domestic factor markets, especially domestic investment, and analyses the two‐way linkages between FDI and domestic investment in sub‐Saharan Africa. The results suggest, first, that FDI crowds in domestic investment and, secondly, that private investment is a driver of FDI, implying that African countries will gain much from improving the domestic climate. Moreover, there are alternatives to resource endowments as a means of attracting foreign investment to non‐resource‐rich countries.

用Black-Scholes期权定价模型评价知识管理投资

针对知识管理项目不确定性的特点,提出运用实物期权的方法对知识管理项目投资进行评价。在比较了实物期权和贴现现金流两种评价方法的基础上,分析了知识管理的实物期权特性,指出知识管理存在的期权形式,并分析了知识管理期权与美式看涨期权的对应关系,论证了实物期权评价知识管理投资的可行性。最后以算例的形式给出了Black-Scholes期权定价模型对知识管理项目的评价过程。

ARIMA模型在上海市全社会固定资产投资预测中的应用

本文采用自回归求积移动平均(ARIMA)法,对《上海市统计年鉴2002》提供的固定资产投资额资料进行了分析。结果显示,ARIMA(1,1,10)模型提供较准确的预测效果,可用于未来的预测,并为上海市全社会固定资产投资提供可靠依据。

社保基金投资的国际趋势及对我国的借鉴

自80年代以来,国际社保基金运作呈现出向私人机构倾斜及投资管制宽松化以及投资组合多样化趋势。我国社保基金95%以上都投资于银行存款和国债,投资收益率较低,不能实现社保基金的保值增值。随着老龄化社会的来临,为减轻乃至防止出现社保基金的支付风险,我们必须对现行的社保基金投资渠道进行拓展,将社保基金的储蓄形态转化为投资形态,最终达到提高社会总福利水平和总产出量,得以帕累托改进。
