Preparing Black and Latinx children for police encounters: Caregiver response profiles and child self-regulation

We hypothesized that the goodness-of-fit between profiles of observed, caregiver-provided ethnic–racial socialization (ERS), and child self-regulation (i.e., inhibitory control) would differentially associate with child behavioral outcomes. Conversations between 80 caregivers (45% Latinx; 55% Black) and their children (M _age  = 11.09; 46% female) were rated for ERS. Measures included an inhibitory control composite (ages 2.5–3.5) and the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL; age 12). Three profiles were determined: Comprehensive (n  = 34), Reactive (n  = 8), and Pragmatic (n  = 38). Only youth with low inhibitory control in preschool appeared to benefit from Pragmatic ERS, whereas youth with normative or high inhibitory control in early childhood displayed lower internalizing and externalizing behaviors when they had Comprehensive or Reactive rather than Pragmatic caregivers.     

Pseudo-likelihood inference for clustered binary data

The maximum likelihood procedure to estimate paraneters of a model has scveral attractive properties including the existence of the covariance matrix which yield asymptotic covariances: for a sample size N the asymptotics are in general of order 1/N. Here we give an asymptotic for the skewness of the distribution of the maximum likelihood estimator of a parameter; this is of order 1/ n2 and this expression is new. Applications relate to the parameters of (i) the Poisson, binomial, and normal density. (ii) the gamna density and (iii) the Beta debsity. Other application are being considered. The expression for the asymptotic skowness at one phase of the study tured out to be unusually complicated involving the asymptotic expressions for variance and bias. When these were identified a much simpler compact expression appeared which we now describe. The work is a much improved treatment of the subject described in Shenton and Bowman (Mariunm likelihood estimation in small samples, Griffin. 1977).

Emotion Socialization by Mothers and Fathers: Coherence among Behaviors and Associations with Parent Attitudes and Children's Social Competence

This study examined inter‐relations among different types of parental emotion socialization behaviors in 88 mothers and 76 fathers (co‐residing with participating mothers) of eight‐year‐old children. Parents completed questionnaires assessing emotion socialization behaviors, emotion‐related attitudes, and their children's social functioning. An observed parent–child emotion discourse task and a child social problem‐solving interview were also performed. Parent gender differences and concordance within couples in emotion socialization behaviors were identified for some but not all behaviors. Fathers' reactions to child emotion, family expressiveness, and fathers' emotion coaching during discussion cohered, and a model was supported in which the commonality among these behaviors was predicted by fathers' emotion‐coaching attitudes, and was associated with children's social competence. A cohesive structure for the emotion socialization construct was less clear for mothers, although attitudes predicted all three types of emotion socialization behavior (reactions, expressiveness, and coaching). Implications for developmental theory and for parent‐focused interventions are discussed.     

论我国传统社会政治社会化路径的多维整合

我国两千余年的传统社会被认为是停滞的社会,究其原因是完善的政治社会化机制促使了政治制度和政治文化的超稳定。基于封建政府与乡民社会既对立更互补的视角,将我国传统社会政治社会化的路径分为官方路径、非官方路径和内化路径三大维度,进一步又将官方路径分为政治录用、公开表彰和学校教化三层面,非官方路径分为家庭教化和乡规民约两层次,内化路径分为自我修养和宗族信仰两方面。最后指出我国传统社会的政治社会化即经此种多维路径而由宏观到微观、由具体到抽象而逐级递进因而效果显著。     

一种官民结合的慈善公益组织探究-以深圳市关爱行动组委会办公室为例

本文以深圳关爱行动组委会办公室为研究个案,基于其历史、现状及运作模式的初步疏理与探究,阐述了在政府与非政府之间形成的官民结合的混合型公益组织.同时,评估了这种公益组织的优劣,指出了其未来的发展方向及其衍生的历史意义.     

农户本位的农业社会化服务供给研究——基于江汉平原Y村的个案分析

在农业现代化背景下,发展农业社会化服务是实现小农户与现代农业有机衔接的关键,探索一种农户本位的农业社会化服务供给路径具有重大现实意义。在田野调查中发现,企业统一向分散农户供给农业社会化服务,存在交易成本过高、管理风险较大等困境,而且标准化服务也难以回应农户个体化需求与激励雇佣人员。在资本逐利性的驱使下,企业主动退出统一服务供给模式,其后由基层组织和村集体统筹服务,转变服务供给方式,在兼顾农民个体化需求的同时低成本供给服务。研究表明,发挥基层组织的统筹功能,调动多元主体协同供给服务,回应农户个体化服务需求,能够走出一条农户本位的农业社会化服务供给路径。这一路径有助于增强基层组织的治理和服务能力,实现以小农户为基础的中国特色农业现代化。
