Staff-Family Relations and Institutional Care Policies

As institutional care providers increasingly recognize the importance of the family, the quality of staff-family relations has become a concern. This study investigated the relationship between selected facility care policies and staff-family relationships. Data secured from staff members and family members in rural nursing homes revealed a relationship between the family role that the care policy prescribed and the degree of staff-family integration. The study concluded that care policies viewing family members as clients will have positive consequences for staff and families and ultimately the residents.     

志愿服务:和谐社会的集体意识——试析志愿服务意识及其成长模型

文章认为,志愿者精神是中国社会转型过程中产生的一种新的用来增强社会整合的集体意识。志愿服务意识的形成能对公众的行为起到有效的导向作用,但意识的深浅将导致行为走势的连锁反映,而有我利他的深层志愿服务意识更有利于志愿者行动的持久化。本文在对志愿服务意识的含义和类型进行分析的基础上,建构了志愿服务意识的成长模型。     

Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Abstract

Data from a longitudinal study of older adults in an upstate New York county (N = 333) show that poor housing “fit” increases the likelihood that older adults are currently considering a move, as does lower residential satisfaction. Those adults who said only that they “might consider moving” focused on health transitions that might signal a need for a new housing situation. Residential satisfaction predicts actual moves even when controlling for moving plans. Older adults may be “pushed” to make a move by a crisis, but those older adults planning moves tend to be “pulled” into housing arrangements with desirable features.     

An Assessment,Using the Multiphasic Environmental Assessment Procedure (MEAP), of a Rural Life-Care Residential Center for the Elderly

This study reports the findings of an assessment of a life-care center for elderly persons in a rural area using the Multiphasic Environmental Assessment Procedure (Moos and Lemke, 1979a). The study assesses the physical and architectural features, the social climate, and the policies and programs of the home. The results are compared to previous assessments of sheltered-care facilities, and the findings of the study support similar research conducted by Moos and Lemke. The facility's selection process leads to a population with similar characteristics, tending to promote a harmonious environment. The residents have a positive perception of their personal environment which encompasses the physical and social environment and organizational structure. This type of environment offers a smooth transition from living in a private residence to a residential life-care center.     

物化的性别 迷失的主体——析三首流行歌曲中的女性主体意识

文章选取近年广为流传的三首大陆流行歌曲,即《香水有毒》、《女人如烟》、《找个好人就嫁了吧》,通过对歌词文本的分析指出,作为最具大众消费文化代表性的形式之一的流行歌曲,存在严重的女性主体意识缺位,表现为女性迷失自我,物化自我,遮蔽了独特的个性特征,心甘情愿地充当从属男性的“第二性”。原因是由于贬低女性社会地位的中国传统文化根深蒂固的影响,及社会转型期女性生存压力增大,也因为满足男性消费欲望的大众传媒推波助澜。女性主义解放的道路仍然漫长,当务之急是女性要重拾信心,树立起女性主体意识。

对内隐学习的意识性研究的反思

内隐学习的研究是近年来认知科学研究的焦点之一,而内隐学习的意识性正是内隐学习研究的核心.连续、动态变化地看待内隐学习的意识问题,是内隐学习的意识研究的新视角.分离(PDP)内隐学习过程中意识和无意识加工的影响,区分和操纵主任务和次级任务的刺激特性和加工程度这两个变量,探讨内隐学习过程中意识加工和无意识加工的关系及PSI和学习进程对内隐学习的影响,从内隐学习效果和内隐学习的意识性两个层面上探讨它们连续动态变化的关系,就是内隐学习意识性研究要探讨的问题.     

Reclaiming complexity: beneath the surface in residential child care

ABSTRACT

Residential child care is an inherently distressing and multi-layered endeavour undertaken by staff who are often poorly trained and supported. In addition, the children, and the adults who care for them, can provide a convenient receptacle for the split off negative feelings of professionals, politicians and the public. The complexity and difficulty of this work is often unrecognised and a simplistic response based on a programmatic, behavioural framework, reinforced by performance-based management and an audit culture, is common. This paper argues for the usefulness of a different approach, drawing on psychoanalytic and open systems thinking, to provide a more nuanced understanding of what is happening in these volatile settings that can guide interventions which match the complexity of the work. Alongside advocating the use of key psychoanalytic and systems concepts to improve understanding, it argues for the importance of providing a containing and reflective environment for staff.     

Critical Consciousness Raising as an Element of Empowering Practice with Survivors of Domestic Violence

Many practitioners who work with survivors of domestic violence (DV) attempt to raise survivors' consciousness about DV dynamics as well as about oppression they may encounter from the systems with which they interact. Such critical consciousness raising is one component of the “empowering practices” that many DV advocates aim to implement. Despite the significance of empowering practices for those working with DV survivors, the literature is not clear about the frequency with which practitioners engage in consciousness raising or how critical consciousness is related to psychological outcomes such as self-efficacy among survivors. To explore these effects, 98 women from two DV shelter programs in two midsized Midwest cities were interviewed shortly after they left the shelters about their experiences while accessing services. Women who reported that their advocates engaged in DV consciousness-raising practice also reported developing greater DV critical consciousness and self-efficacy while in shelter. These findings suggest that gaining greater understanding of the effects of society-wide oppression on their experiences can lead survivors to a greater belief in their general ability to meet their goals. Future research should explore the effects of such changes on survivors' lives over time, as well as the most effective practices to raise critical consciousness.     

苗族生命意识衍生的医药逻辑诠释——以东部支系(湘西方言)苗族为例

医学人类学的研究目标,是揭示潜藏在人类医药知识体系中“医行为”与“药行为”之间的内在联结,并寻求对医药现象的文化注解,而且,这一注解过程本身是完成医学人类学理论建构的重要环节。但是,这一过程的完成却离不开对相关民族生命意识的探讨。因为,特定民族的医药知识体系是该民族生命意识“锁定”下的文化建构。本文拟对东部支系苗族的医药个案以及在其语言、亲属称谓、宗教仪式等所表征的生命意识之注解为例,试图展开对苗族生命意识衍生的医药逻辑之理性说明。
