A Bayesian estimator based on Franklin's randomized response procedure is proposed for proportion estimation in surveys dealing with a sensitive character. The method is simple to implement and avoids the usual drawbacks of Franklin's estimator, i.e., the occurrence of negative estimates when the population proportion is small. A simulation study is considered in order to assess the performance of the proposed estimator as well as the corresponding credible interval. 相似文献

The use of the logit transformation on paired-comparison data in the weighted least squares analysis of response surfaces for aesthetic qualities of products is discussed. Monte Carlo simulations are employed to investigate the small sample properties of the estimators and test statistics. A secondary objective of the Monte Carlo simulations is the comparison of two transformation procedures. A well-known procedure for the optimization of a second-degree response function over a spherical region of interest is that of ridge analysis. Khuri and Myers (1979) introduced a modification of this procedure by incorporating a certain constraint on the prediction variance. Both procedures, however, assume that the response variable has a constant variance throughtout the experimental region. In the present article, we consider two extensions to Khuri and Myers modifioed ridge analysis. The first extension relaxes the constant variance assumption. In the second extension. generalised linear models are used instead of the trasitional linear model. which are commenly used in responce variables that are not necessaily continusly distribution, including these have discreate distributions, Two examples are presented to illustrate the implementation of the proposed extensions. 相似文献

The randomized response (RR) technique with two decks of cards proposed by Odumade and Singh (2009) can always be made more efficient than the RR techniques proposed by Warner (1965), Mangat and Singh (1990), and Mangat (1994) by adjusting the proportion of cards in the decks. Arnab et al. (2012) generalized Odumade and Singh strategy (2009) for complex survey designs and wider class of estimators. In this paper improvement of Arnab et al. AbstractWe propose a unified approach for multilevel sample selection models using a generalized result on skew distributions arising from selection. If the underlying distributional assumption is normal, then the resulting density for the outcome is the continuous component of the sample selection density and has links with the closed skew-normal distribution (CSN). The CSN distribution provides a framework which simplifies the derivation of the conditional expectation of the observed data. This generalizes the Heckman’s two-step method to a multilevel sample selection model. Finite-sample performance of the maximum likelihood estimator of this model is studied through a Monte Carlo simulation. 相似文献

ABSTRACTOften in data arising out of epidemiologic studies, covariates are subject to measurement error. In addition ordinal responses may be misclassified into a category that does not reflect the true state of the respondents. The goal of the present work is to develop an ordered probit model that corrects for the classification errors in ordinal responses and/or measurement error in covariates. Maximum likelihood method of estimation is used. Simulation study reveals the effect of ignoring measurement error and/or classification errors on the estimates of the regression coefficients. The relationship between contributions and elicited beliefs in a repeated two-person public good experiment is modeled with the help of a parsimounious random-utility function that allows for conditionally cooperative, opportunistic, and altruistic patterns of behavior. Under standard assumptions, a latent-class mixed logit specification with three sub-populations is shown to capture well heterogeneity in individual contribution levels over time, while also accomodating for different degrees of heteroscedasticity. The estimation results are consistent with the conjecture that the majority of players in public goods games are strongly conditional cooperators, with smaller fractions of the population leaning to opportunistic or altruistic behavior. 相似文献
