东亚地区主义与美国东亚霸权

东亚地区合作的思想由来已久,并有着深厚的内在基础。但东亚地区真正起步还是在冷战以后。这个过程与美国东亚霸权紧密相连。某种程度上,东亚地区合作只是美国东亚霸权的附属产品。但美国东亚霸权目标和手段的内在矛盾决定了美国对东亚地区合作的两面性。东亚地区正是充分利用这个两面性,促进了本地区的合作与整合,形成了一股具有内生变量的,不以美国东亚霸权志趣为转移的力量或态势。但随着东亚地区实力的上升和进一步整合,美国这种内在矛盾性将进一步凸现。未来如何化解美国东亚霸权和东亚地区发展这种矛盾成为目前非常紧迫的课题。     

美国通用语言的发展策略及其特征

英语成为关利坚的通用语言,是英国殖民者和美国主流社会在其宗教使命感、文化优越感和强烈的母语情结的作用下,依靠军事、经济、文化实力对土著印第安人、非英裔白人和黑人等民族语言同化和融合的产物。它的实质是语言同化外衣下对少数族裔文化认同的瓦解和再造,是建立美国英语在全球语言霸权的初次演练。     

美国次贷危机发展演变及其启示

美国金融机构盲目的放贷行为及金融监管的不作为最终导致了美国次级房贷市场危机的爆发。尽管美国金融当局连续降息及注资,美国次贷危机仍愈演愈烈。中国同样存在这种隐忧,表现在经济增长的通胀压力、证券市场的泡沫及房地产市场的严重过热。因此,加强我国金融机构的监管已刻不容缓!

文章通过对以本土化伊斯兰文化居于主导地位的干旱贫瘠的宁南山区农村婚姻家庭现状及形成原因的深入分析,试图寻找在宗教文化居于主导地位且经济十分落后的民族地区,如何改变人们的观念,从而培养和提高他们的法律意识与权利意识。     

"拉美化"与拉美新政

"拉美化"是拉美地区现代化进程中出现的政治、经济和社会诸领域一系列问题的总称,这些问题的累积,导致拉美地区在20世纪80年代陷入了一场持续十多年的发展危机。为克服这场危机而形成的所谓"华盛顿共识"及其主导的新自由主义改革,不仅未能消解反而加剧了拉美地区的发展危机。近年来,拉美左派政府通过对新自由主义政策的调整,加强国家的宏观调控职能,在发展经济的同时,努力解决贫富两极分化和社会公正问题,促使拉美地区的政治、经济和社会发生了有利于民主、公正和发展的积极变化。     

The origins and nature of American nationalism

This article critically analyzes the origins and nature of American nationalism. The first part examines the historiographical debate on the question in what period the formation of an American national identity occurred, i.e. before or after the American Revolution. The second part is concerned with the nature of American nationalism, casting doubt on the claim that American nationalism is exceptional, i.e. inherently different and morally superior to other nationalisms. It refutes the exceptionalist claim by applying recent findings in European nationalism research to the American case and by reinterpreting American nationalism not as an introspective phenomenon but as a demarcation process.     

Promoting Fathers' Engagement With Children: Preventive Interventions for Low‐Income Families

Few programs to enhance fathers' engagement with children have been systematically evaluated, especially for low‐income minority populations. In this study, 289 couples from primarily low‐income Mexican American and European American families were randomly assigned to one of three conditions and followed for 18 months: 16‐week groups for fathers, 16‐week groups for couples, or a 1‐time informational meeting. Compared with families in the low‐dose comparison condition, intervention families showed positive effects on fathers' engagement with their children, couple relationship quality, and children's problem behaviors. Participants in couples' groups showed more consistent, longer term positive effects than those in fathers‐only groups. Intervention effects were similar across family structures, income levels, and ethnicities. Implications of the results for current family policy debates are discussed.     

A Commentary on “Gender Perspectives in Cross-Cultural Couples”

This commentary expands on Kellner’s article by discussing clinical practice with Asian and Euro-American couples. Differences in Western and traditional Asian cultural expectations around intimacy and styles of emotional expression can often lead to misunderstanding among couples. Therapy can also be a challenge for couples when they do not share the same first language. A therapist who only speaks English can inadvertently create an alliance with the partner whose first language is English. On the other hand, bilingual therapists who use both English and an Asian language in the session can face challenges differentiating their roles as a therapist versus a translator. Case illustrations are presented to illustrate these challenges.

Clinical Social Work and Psychoanalysis: Introduction to the Special Issue

As clinical social work developed in America it was highly influenced by the concepts and techniques of psychoanalysis and many of its practitioners became interested in seeking psychoanalytic training. More and more psychoanalysts are now coming from a background in clinical social work due to the development of a network of interdisciplinary training institutes and the opening of the Institutes of the American Psychoanalytic Association to non-medical candidates. This special issue considers how psychoanalysis may be affected as more of its practitioners and contributors come from a background in clinical social work. This introduction reviews the history of the development of clinical social work and outlines the issues related to “lay analysis” in this country.

19世纪初期事关贸易成败的美国客邮是学界研究的空白。通过分析美国“太平洋商人号”商船在澳门修理期间发往广州的一批信件,证明了美国在广州客邮的关键环节：依托十三行商馆区后勤服务区秘密栖身,接收转发地址为广州十三行商馆区凿石街的泗兴办馆,办馆承担了邮局的收发邮政功能,澳门广州间的美国短途客邮具有独立运行的特点。这也为19世纪初期美国在华客邮提供了详实的个案。
