Strategy restoration

Discussions of strategic change generally assume that managers strive to break free from the constraints of their organization's past so that they can forge ahead into the future. However, some organizations instead opt to reinterpret and reenact abandoned strategies drawn from their own history. Such actions are largely unaccounted for in the literature on strategic change. Accordingly, we propose here a conceptualization of a distinct type of strategic change that we call “strategy restoration.” We first outline how strategy restoration fills a gap in current understandings of strategic change. We then elaborate conditions that motivate and enable organizations to pursue strategy restoration rather than other types of strategic change. Two components of the framework—organizational traditionality and memory—characterize the organization itself, and two—nostalgia and perceptions of the organization's authenticity—characterize the market in which the organization operates. The proposed conceptualization of strategy restoration and discussion of its underlying mechanisms carry implications for researchers and managers.

Precarious nostalgia in the tropical smart city: transmedia memory,urban informatics,and the Singapore Golden Jubilee

The memory of loss in Asia's leading global cities has been shaped by recurrent projects of urban renewal, which have sought to deliver economic prosperity and social order at the expense of longstanding spaces and practices. Singapore's Golden Jubilee in 2015, which commemorated its triumphant postcolonial development, was accompanied by the proliferation of public expressions of nostalgia across a variety of media platforms. Amid the rise of the participatory culture of media convergence, this article examines how nostalgic longing is no longer necessarily articulated as an antagonistic critique of the precarious present of neoliberal capitalism, which withdraws into a timeless image of a congenial past. Departing from this conventional understanding of nostalgia in the scholarship of Singapore, it explores how the ruling government since independence has reconfigured its dissemination of historical and cultural knowledge to manage its transition from a global city defined by rapid growth to a smart nation reliant on perpetual adjustment by cultivating a form of citizenship centred on entrepreneurship and innovation. Through immersive spatialization, commissioned mobile video games oblige players to internalize the protocols of knowledge and agency of the Singapore Story, the official narrative of economic success and national progress. Two other state-run interactive digital platforms, the National Library's online archive the Singapore Memory Project and the National Museum's art installation The Story of the Forest, are designed to cultivate a new openness to the inevitability of iterations in urban informatics. Helping to assuage popular anxiety over the constancy of change and the failure of risk-taking, the latter frames perpetual adjustment as a vital component of the cosmic cyclicality of deep time, in which vanished realities are recreated with different permutations.

回顾了新中国成立60年来农业社会化服务体系组织发展概况,在梳理农业社会化服务组织建构的分类及存在问题的基础上,总结出我国目前农业社会化服务体系组织建构的三种思路：＂统一主体＂、＂多元主体＂和＂统一主体与多元主体相结合＂。我国地域辽阔、各地经济水平参差不齐的国情决定了＂统一主体与多元主体相结合＂中所蕴含的＂权变性建构＂思路或将是我国农业社会化服务体系组织未来发展的主要方向。

RECLAIMING HERITAGE: COLOURIZATION,CULTURE WARS AND THE POLITICS OF NOSTALGIA

This article considers the discursive continuities between a specifically liberal defence of cultural patrimony, evident in the debate over film colourization, and the culture war critique associated with neo-conservatism. It examines how a rhetoric of nostalgia, linked to particular ideas of authenticity, canonicity and tradition, has been mobilized by the right and the left in attempts to stabilize the configuration and perceived transmission of American cultural identity. While different in scale, colourization and multiculturalism were seen to create respective (postmodern) barbarisms against which defenders of culture, heritage and good taste could unite. I argue that in its defence of the ‘classic’ work of art, together with principles of aesthetic distinction and the value of cultural inheritance, the anti-colourization lobby helped enrich and legitimize a discourse of tradition that, at the end of the 1980s, was beginning to reverberate powerfully in the conservative challenge to a ‘crisis’ within higher education and the humanities. This article attempts to complicate the contemporary politics of nostalgia, showing how a defence of cultural patrimony has distinguished major and minor culture wars, engaging left and right quite differently but with similar presuppositions.     

陆机诗歌中的士族意识

前人对陆机诗歌有情还是无情的争议,以及对陆机诗歌的抬高和贬低,都与他诗歌中的士族意识密切相关。士族意识的形成是魏晋文学史上的重要现象之一,陆机诗歌中的士族意识标志着中国诗史上士族意识的成熟。陆机诗歌对中国诗史的最大贡献就在于他第一次深刻地表现了士族意识。陆机诗歌中的士族意识主要表现在家族情结、乡曲之思、功名意识等方面。陆机诗歌展现了一个士族文人的心路历程,展现了他的自负、冲突、忧思、孤独。较之于建安诗人,陆机诗歌的确缺乏刚健的风骨,但较之于六朝时代盛行的玄言诗和宫体诗,陆机表现士族意识的诗歌毕竟言之有物,言之有情,既有一定的力,也有一定的气。
