天国在洪秀全的宗教思想中占有十分重要的地位。本文通过对其天国二元论来源的探讨 ,以及对天上天国、地上天国特点的具体分析 ,说明洪秀全的天国观并没有游离出中国传统文化的藩篱 ,而是浸透了浓浓的传统文化精神。     

Appreciating Impact: Evaluating Small Voluntary Organizations in the United Kingdom

Within the mixed economy of care in the United Kingdom there are debates about the ways in which impact can be evaluated, in order to shape funding and policy decisions. One of the tensions evident in this debate is whether the evaluation approach should reflect the perspectives and goals of the voluntary organizations and their members, or whether evaluation should reflect the wider goals of the whole system of provision. The former runs the risk of being insular and self-congratulatory, while the latter may be inappropriate and dismissive of achievements. This paper explores this tension by reporting on a study that used Appreciative Inquiry to evaluate 10 small-scale not-for-profit schemes for older people. The data indicated some unexpected and long-term impacts that demonstrated the distinctiveness of the sector. Subsequently the findings were mapped on to the “impact grid” developed by Wilding and Lacey (2003). While this was straightforward at the levels of individuals and interorganizationally, it was more difficult at the sector/community level, suggesting that more work needs to be done to bring these two perspectives together.

太平军和清军在浙江长达六年的战争给浙江人口带来巨大影响。在重建战前人口的基础上 ,本文通过对文献记载中的人口死亡比例及战后人口数据的分析 ,以府为单位 ,估算出战争中的人口死亡数。在此基础上 ,本文对太平天国战争的性质及传统的历史观进行了新的探讨

额尔金眼中的太平天国

1858年额尔金访华,在清政府的许可下游历长江流域,此时正值太平天国与英国方面再度进行外交接触之际。在大叙事结构的背景下,额尔金的书信、日记记录了当时双方的真实交互。以此为切入点,可以更加清楚地看到太平天国作为一个政治主体,在1858~1861年间其官方外交手段是如何失败的。     

Factors Holding Back Small Third Sector Organizations’ Engagement with the Local Public Sector

In many developed countries there has been a shift from grants to contracts as a source of local public sector funding of the third sector. Smaller third sector organizations may struggle to compete for this funding due to the complex process of accessing and maintaining this funding and conveying their capabilities to funding providers. This study utilizes data from the United Kingdom to determine what factors increase these administrative and communication barriers for smaller organizations. Resources in income and volunteers affect perceptions of the process of obtaining funding. A solution may be standardization of evaluation and monitoring, but this may lead to isomorphism and loss of variety of provision. Better two‐way communication may allow local authorities to retain variety in public service provision through improved knowledge of their partners.     

The making and breaking of solidarity between unwaged and waged workers in the UK

ABSTRACT

This article explores in what way solidarity relationships are made and unmade between waged and un-waged workers in the UK. It thereby feeds into the broader discussion on the decline and future of trade unionism and new ways of organizing struggle. In particular, it engages with the literature on community unionism. Methodologically it draws on Participatory Action Research undertaken between 2013 and 2017 with 12 unwaged workers’ groups organizing outside of established trade unions. Conceptually the article challenges understandings of solidarity based on self-interest by emphasising its relational complexity. It argues for a concept of workers’ solidarity that is based on a broadened understanding of work but which at the same time goes beyond a common identity by paying attention to power-discrepancies and current inequalities. Through such a lens, solidarity is created through affective bonds and is based on a shared anger about injustice and a common desire for transformation.     

查尔斯·威瑟斯与英国历史地理学的“地理知识转向”

本文概要地回顾和评述英国历史地理学家、爱丁堡大学教授查尔斯·威瑟斯（Charles W. J. Withers）的研究脉络和学术成就，并讨论他在晚近以来的英国历史地理学中的角色。自20世纪80年代初开展独立研究之后，威瑟斯的研究重心经历了从区域历史地理（以苏格兰研究为主），到“地理知识历史地理学”的重大转向。对于地理知识以及相关的仪器、书刊、组织、人员等的关注，在挖掘英国地理学丰厚的历史资源上取得了令人瞩目的成功。这既是对地理学史的重新书写，也在传统的历史地理学之外拓展了新的研究领域，笔者将其称为英国历史地理学的“地理知识转向”。威瑟斯藉此参与和引领了英国历史地理学的最新进展。本文也对中国历史地理学研究现状提出扼要的反思。
