Critical analysis of blogging in public relations

This essay conducts an analysis of blogs as public relations tools. Following an overview of blogs, attention is given to how blogs can be used more effectively by public relations professionals, and how blogs are favored by communication firms and consultants as essential public relations tools. The essay concludes that while blogs have incredible potential as research, framing, and persuasion tools, their utility as a public relations tool is currently limited.

“第三代”诗歌是八十年代中国诗歌发展史上一个重要环节，诗歌在89年的断裂使得八、九十年代诗歌创作上有很大差别，本文从“第三代”诗歌入手，以它和九十年代个人化诗歌创作的内在联系为着眼点，试图在二者的联系中找到诗歌发展至今的一脉相连的内在精神的延续和创作的积累，达到正确审视当代诗歌的目的。     

Four publics of anti-bioterrorism information campaigns: A test of the situational theory

Applying the situational theory, this study examines the extent to which citizens recognize bioterrorism as a social issue, their level of involvement with it, and how their perceptions of it affect communication and protective behaviors. A national sample survey (N = 363) showed that problem recognition was positively related to information seeking and processing while constraints recognition was negatively related to information seeking and processing. Involvement was positively related to information seeking. Respondents were segmented into four public types based on media consumption habits, source trust evaluations and intentions to perform recommended behaviors.

文章从国民经济核算的公共产品属性入手,认为国民经济核算作为核算手段和结果都是一种公共产品,并以GDP数据为例分析了中国国民经济核算的产品“缺陷”,即质量问题,最后讨论了把产品质量控制(TQC)理念引入到中国的国民经济核算中。     

Competencies of senior communication practitioners in the UK: An initial study

There is now a considerable body of knowledge conceptualizing the roles that public relations practitioners enact. A key element in the enactment of those roles is the competencies, or behaviors of those who occupy them, however there are no systematic studies of these competencies. Occupational psychologists who conducted in-depth interviews with 17 ‘top’ communicators in the UK, discovered 10 core competencies or behaviors specific to the senior communication practitioner role in publicly quoted companies, and 10 core competencies for those working in the public sector. These competencies are elucidated and compared and the implications discussed. Avenues for further research are also identified.     

Walk the line: Active Moms define corporate social responsibility

While many have suggested that corporate social responsibility is in part a response to stakeholders, little research has been done that gives primacy to the targeted publics’ voice, interpretations, and responses to corporate social responsibility. This research examines the meaning and attributes that Active Moms, an often targeted stakeholder group, assign to corporate social responsibility. In nine focus groups (N = 72), participants suggested that authentic CSR (a) is a combination of socially responsible business practices and campaigns to engage issues which impact their lives, (b) must be marked by longevity and consistency, (c) makes the most sense when linked to core business practices, (d) is distinct from philanthropy, and (e) is evaluated using a blend of rationality and emotionality.     

物权变动公信力与善意取得关系考——兼议善意取得标的物范围通说之修正

文章从物权变动的公信力入手,考究了其与善意取得之关系,指出公示公信力是善意取得的理论依据,并对“善意取得标的物仅限于动产”之传统观念进行了批评,指出不动产亦可适用于善意取得.文章最后对可适用于善意取得的不动产进行了列举分析,反驳了某些不合理的观点.     

抗日战争时期陕甘宁边区公营工业改革探析

陕甘宁边区的公营工业是在战争环境中建立和发展起来的。抗日战争时期,在全民族抗战高潮的有力推动下,边区公营工业发展迅速,影响广泛。但是,随着公营工业的快速发展,其中存在的问题也逐渐暴露。针对这些问题,党中央、西北局及边区政府对公营工业进行了一系列卓有成效的改革,使边区公营工业在效益和效率等方面都得到明显提高,充分发挥了其在边区工业经济中的骨干和主导作用。     

Value of engagement: Factors influencing how students perceive their community contribution to public relations internships

The purpose of this 3-year study is to assess how using what students (n = 203) learn in the classroom during internships influences their attitudes toward certain civic engagement issues. Results demonstrate that having more opportunities to use what they learn while on the job significantly predicts who the students believe benefit most (themselves, supervisor, the organization, the community, target public/s), how valued they believe their contributions are to their employers as well as to them personally, and career choices. Recommendations for public relations educators are suggested.
