Refugee protection is an important content in International law, which is of great significance to both humanity assistance and human rights protection. The problem of refugee protection cannot be avoided in the face of complex border situation. Although the Chinese government has done lots of work in this field, it still lacks relevant laws at home. It is vital to improve efficiency and guarantee the fundamental rights for the claimants by making special laws that ensure the right of residence for refugees, setting detailed standards to identify them, and establishing specific responsible authority.  相似文献

Australia's approach to immigration, as internationally, is largely concerned with state sovereignty, border protection and restrictionism towards asylum seekers. However, with just under a million refugees currently residing in Australia, and with 13,750 more added to this number each year, there is also an interest in ensuring that those who are granted humanitarian protection are socially integrated. This article reports on a qualitative investigation of the integration experiences of 85 refugee adolescents aged 13–17 years resettled in Adelaide, South Australia. It explores, in particular, the role of social connectedness in the integration process. Relationships with family, ethnic group and host country are believed to affect multiple and interrelated integration outcomes including language acquisition, cultural knowledge, belonging, identity, civic engagement, social and economic participation, and access to public services. This research found that young people must negotiate the integration process with variable, and in many cases limited, support from the network of social connections surrounding them. We suggest that policy and programmes which strengthen the relationships young people have with others have the potential to enhance integration outcomes.  相似文献

The porous external border around the Schengen member states of the European Union (EU) became a colossal political problem in 2015 and 2016 as the migrant and Refugee Crisis unfolded. In Beetham’s seminal terminology, there was a crisis between the EU’s power and legitimacy on all three dimensions hereof: The Dublin regime was not followed, there was a gap between the beliefs of the governing and the subordinate peoples, and there were increasingly critical views among citizens and politicians alike (even from mainstream parties) against the inflow of refugees and migrants outside of the normal asylum system. The behaviour of the EU actors since then can be interpreted as an attempt at containing this crisis as regards Beetham’s legitimacy dimensions.  相似文献

Abstract

Refugees almost invariably have a history of traumatic experience and significant loss. However, for some, therapy is neither a practical nor a readily available solution and for others, it may present further challenges in terms of stigma or cultural inappropriateness. On the other hand, a classroom is generally considered unthreatening and, as teachers are with their learners on a regular basis, the opportunity exists for them to provide support and a form of healing. This article presents a range of therapeutic pedagogical strategies which can provide interventions for refugee backgrounds learners. It makes particular reference to the New Zealand on-arrival programme for refugees.  相似文献

Often, newly resettled refugees continue to face obstacles to acculturation long after initial resettlement. Findings from interviews with Karen refugees from Burma suggest that recently resettled refugees experience major obstacles in locating and accessing employment and health care due to language and transportation barriers. Interviewees expressed a need for assistance in learning English and help with transportation, job skills, and financial planning. Results of this needs assessment indicate that many of the basic needs of refugees are not being met following the initial relocation period, and significant efforts are needed to achieve social justice for this vulnerable population.  相似文献

日本难民甄别制度的建立始于1981年《出入境管理与难民认定法》的制定。虽然该制度明确了法务大臣在难民甄别事务上的权限,规定了难民甄别的标准和程序,但同时也因存在一系列问题而导致国会于2004年对《出入境管理与难民认定法》进行了修订。此次修订一定程度上完善了既存的难民甄别制度,但是,与国际标准及先进国家的实践相比,日本现行的难民甄别制度中仍存在一系列需要改进的问题。  相似文献
